Allstate Insurance: David Tofig

I have never had such personal attention from an insurance agency. Everyone in the Tofig family is so friendly and knowledgeable. The entire office is eager to please and they really care about their clients. When my son first bought his Jeep and met with Josh to add it to the automobile policy, Josh was so excited and went out to see the Jeep! The two of them sat in the Jeep for a few minutes just enjoying the moment — priceless! Josh is attentive to details and always works hard to find the best rate for all of our family’s insurance needs — Automobile and Homeowners. Five Stars to everyone at the Tofig Allstate Insurance Office!

Well first off let me say that everyone that works there especially David is always willing to do what’s best for you. Always willing to go the extra mile to make you satisfied. Another well-​deserved/​earned 5 star rating for David. I’ve been with Dave since 5 years now! Extremely helpful and quick responder! All correspondence with him, either over phone or emails have been pretty smooth and casual and he’s not pushy at all. Sometimes I feel like I am talking to my friend instead of an insurance agent. :-) He even sent me a «thank you» note and a macy’s gift card last year when I referred my friend to him. Highly recommended.

I have known the Tofig family for roughly 20 years or more. My mother was fortunate enough to work at an Allstate office that was closely associated with that of David’s father’s office. I recall hearing many great examples, during my teenage years, of the great care Mr. Tofig put out towards his insured customers.
I would say that it wasn’t until the last five years that I enlisted David Tofig as my immediate insurance agent. It’s easy for me to say that Mr. Tofig raised David and his brother Joshua (on the same Allstate team over there) to be true gentlemen in the insurance world.
I have pretty simple coverage as a single dude. Either David or Joshua call me a few times a year to make sure my needs are still met. I never have any doubts with them helping me out on the other end. Oh, and by the way, I live in Los Angeles now, and I’m STILL loyal to them. They’re that good.

In 12 years, David Tofig and his office has been one of the rare businesses that I go out of my way to promote. The level of customer service Dave and his team provide, is not only uncommon but beats all other services I am currently signed up with. It’s not simply about the friendly reminders about due dates to pay bills, etc. (which they really don’t need to do, but they go that extra mile) but most of all it is about how they truly care for their customers.
From the very first phone call I made to them to each interaction thereon, I feel like I am the most important customer and they make me feel so valued. I don’t believe any team member in their office is ever having a ‘bad day’, that’s how committed they are in what they do. They are THE BEST and every customer oriented business could learn from them.

I went into the Tofig Allstate office with someone else and was so impressed with the way they handled her business over the course of a few months that I asked for a quote. I did not expect them to save me hundred of $$ but that is what happened. David Tofig looked at the policy we had with another carrier and objectively discussed the coverage and then asked me several questions about our family and our driving habits, needs and requirements. He also discussed with us our upcoming need for new driver insurance. He not only saved us money but improved our coverage level. Every time I had any problem — maybe I needed an extra day or two to make a payment or had questions about the policy or coverage David was there to talk with me about it. If he was busy when I called he would call right back, I often went by in person to make payments or just to say «hello» because it is so pleasant in the office! I became a client of theirs and would never have changed except I moved to another state. I still go by and visit whenever I am in San Jose and everyone in the office is so nice. David Tofig is the best insurance agent I have ever dealt with and I have been purchasing auto insurance for over 30 years. David is professional and friendly at the same time and all the other guys in the office always greeted me by name when I walked in or called. David even called me a few months after I moved to check and see if I was doing okayl It is rare these days to find a truly caring, «family style» business with this level of professionalism along with the friendliness.

Tofig Insurance is a top-​notch business with uncommon integrity. I look to Dave and his team as consultants for all of my insurance needs. Dave is so honest, he has even turned away my business when he knows my current policy has been better than what he can offer. Going a step further, Dave has done research for me on policies that his office does not even deal with just to help out my family and I. Dave is as good as it gets. I’ve been a client of Tofig Insurance for 3 years now, and in that time Dave and his team have helped me make numerous decisions from which policy works best for me, to when the right time to buy life insurance is, to insuring my wife’s engagement ring so I can breathe easier around sinks and large bodies of water (that last one is priceless!).

I have been through several insurance company’s in the past, some better than others. That being said I have NEVER dealt with any company as family friendly, and truly concerned with the customers well being as this one. David sat down with me and explained everything to me in detail that I needed to know. He saved me money in every way possible as well as making me aware of the places that I should not be cutting corners. Come to find out I am paying way less for my umbrella policy then I was for just a few policy’s elsewhere.
When meeting with David for the first time to discuss my future policy, I was unable to find childcare so I had to bring my 1 year old son. Immediately after walking through the door. He was greeted by smiling faces that played with him for the extent of our visit. These people are all about family, and treat you as such.
I have contacted them a few times since to research my policy, and not only did they find every way possible to cover what is needed, but he remembers my son and asks about him. This company is a class organization and I will never go anywhere else for any type of insurance

As someone who genuinely hates all insurance companies… Seriously… I have absolutely loved working with Dave. My husband and I live in Los Angeles and have had our fair share of break-​ins and obnoxious /​inconvenient situations (car stolen out of driveway, entire house robbed two months earlier) and every time Dave went above and beyond to make sure we were 1) OK and 2) compensated for all of our losses.
He’s awesome. I’ve recommended him to everyone I know who have moved to California and, as word of mouth is the most important way to find someone solid, they all signed up and have been nothing but pleased!
I don’t write a lot of reviews but honestly, saw the negative one below and felt the need to contribute. Dave’s awesome. The guys at his firm are awesome. And if you look at their ranking overall (they’re the #1 ranked customer service Allstate agency in California) — it shows.

I feel so taken care of by Tofig Insurance. It is so comforting to know that your insurance agency will be there for you in the event that disaster strikes.
I have been with this family-​run business for years, and could not be happier.
A few months back, I needed assistance when my car’s windshield was damaged by a rock. I called Josh and David immediately, and within minutes they had a repair service at my door step. My car looks perfect, and the services were 100% covered. The speed at which they responded and the diligence that followed was incredible.
No wonder they’re ranked as the #1 Allstate agency in California for the last 3 years!

If a negative star could be rated, he should get it.
This guy charges my credit card for 2 policies I didn’t authorize and wouldn’t reverse the charges when I contacted his moments after he sends an email he put the policy through. He said «it doesn’t work that way».
He sent over 2 policies for me to review and I didn’t sign either of them. I can’t believe this guy would do something so unethical. He won’t even talk to me on the phone and said I would have to call the number he provided. The number circles back to him and he won’t provide any other person or contact information to resolve this.
The way dave is handling this situation I think he has done this more than once. He is trying to say the contract was cancelled and there is a cancellation fee. He won’t provide an alternate contact to discuss the matter. He won’t talk to me about it and hangs up.
I have my creditcard company disputing the charges and now have to spend my time chasing this. I have over 30 years in sales and instinctively trust sales people will do the right thing. To do something like this the guys business must be really suffering. I would hate to see what would happen if an accident claim had to be filed…
Follow up: 6-​8-​2014
My MasterCard dispute has been cleared and all funds are returned. MasterCard said Allstate never responded so they extracted the funds from their bank account. Now Allstate has sent me to a collection agency.
I spoke to several representatives of Credit Collect Service who were helpful and profession. I had to send documentation separately for the 2 policies and explained the course of events. One rep asked if I had retained legal counsel and said it might be required. He also said they have experienced other insurance agents acting in this manner to get a sale. At the Collection reps request I also sent an affidavit. I was an SJPD LEO many years back so this brought back memories of these situations and those that conducted themselves in this manner.
For reference: Fraudulent use of a credit card is under CA Penal Code 484.502.9
It is grand theft to use a CC without cardholders authorization Section 484(e). Do not give your credit card number to anyone even if they ask for it as a reference check.
I learned from one Collection rep that Allstate’s phone service automatically reroutes calls to the policy agent. The way to get around this is to call from an unrecognized phone line or block your caller ID. I never got through to Allstate so I cannot confirm this. david could have easily told me this information but didn’t and hung up on me instead (3 times). He also ignored my request for a person to contact in the dispute (2 times).
Learn from my mistake and find another insurance company. We have been using insurance from Costco and they are less expensive and have better coverage limits so I never agreed to change to Allstate.
Learn from my mistake and look elsewhere for your insurance. This guy and company are a match made in hell.

Everything has been settled to our favor and at no time has this guy ever been involved in resolving the dispute. He just threw it over the fence and forgot about it and let us deal with everything. We did and he and Allstate gets nothing as was expected. The collection agency was considerate and understanding. As a consumer the best recourse is to not do business with someone that conducts themselves in this manner.

Such a genuine guy, he helped save me $ 450 on home and auto insurance a year. Straight forward, nice and honest about the frills that you may not need.
I like that this is a family business, too.

It’s hard to find a «family» feel in the insurance industry and that’s where this place is different from all the the other insurance companies. David Tofig is always looking out for the best interest of his clients and truly makes you feel like a member of the family. I’ve been through many accidents in the past few years :(but Dave has always been there for me to see me through. Thanks!

I’ve had an absolutely phenomenal experience with David and his team over the last two years. I would highly recommend his service to anyone. They are competitive on price, but far more important deliver the best service I’ve experienced… which is hard to find.
I had a fender bender last year and could not have asked for better support and advice in getting through the process. They were highly responsive and handled matters very efficiently. I was extremely impressed.
David and his group are also extremely knowledgeable about all areas of insurance. For efficient and high quality service you need to look no further.
