A Better Way Housekeeping

I’m very new to Unilocal,but I want to share my experience with this company I experienced a few plus years back.
I’m a registered nurse and I used to care for My aunt lizzy, R.I.P. was an elderly lady in her upper 80s. This became such a huge task, that I hired a Better Way to clean her house and that business relationship lasted close to three years.
They’d had a lot of various ladies switch, which wasn’t preferable, but I understand and they did such a great job. We had them clean for quite some time.
They’d come, I’d pay them and everything was great.
Until one day I was going to wear Aunt Lizzy’s old broach, that I put back into her jewelery box after I wore it to a funeral a few months prior, and it was gone! I didn’t call and accuse them of their staff stealing, because my father in law is very knowledgeable of the law, and basically there’s no way to prove that this company took it, because we didn’t actually see them do it, so I started monitoring and paying closer attention to things.
My husband decided to set trap, a $ 50 bill crumbled with a few scrap papers and envelopes on the floor beside the kitchen cupboard and this table they pull out and sweep/​mop around, as if they fell between, to see if they’d take the bait and I’m sorry to say she did! She didn’t take it the first time, she took it the second time around.
I know I can’t prove they stole the brooch, but I’m 100% positive the lady took the money!
I know you’re probably thinking maybe my aunt went in the jewelry box and misplaced the item, so I would like to clarify that with you… my aunt is disabled and cannot walk. It’s difficult to move her without assistance, plus the cleaning ladies are the only other human beings that have been in the home in the last year, aside from my husband and I, and a nice plumber that I actually escorted and chatted with while he fixed the guest’s bathroom. He was never left unattended.
So after the money incident I just canceled them.
I didn’t have Unilocal back then, so I’m sharing now!
Two stars because they did clean very good, you just can’t trust them!
It’s just heart-​wrenching mourning the loss of your family heirlooms.

Love this cleaning service! They are always on-​time, respectful of my home, and do an excellent job. I especially appreciate the flexibility with my schedule and their willingness to fulfill all of my corky requests. Like the last reviewer, I too like that I supply my own products. I have a small child and I like to know that what is being used in my home is safe.

I’ve used A Better Way for almost 10 years now. The first few months were a bit bumpy because we were trying to find a good match and, frankly, some of the cleaners who were originally assigned to our home just weren’t cutting it. However, the management recognized fairly quickly when we needed a change and they were quick to reassign. Eventually, we were matched up with a pair of sisters who ended up staying with us for years. Mary, the younger sister, eventually moved down south to be with her grandkids and we were left with Martha. She’s been fantastic and is very reliable. Lately she’s had some health issues and the folks who subbed for her did a great job too.
One of the biggest bonuses for me about using this company vs. someone like Merry Maids is I get to supply the cleaning products. This might not sound like a great thing but it is if you are into eco cleaning products.
My only complaint is the responsiveness of the office. While they are always quick to contact me if we need to make a schedule change or anything of that nature, I have found that unless I get a live person on the phone, they don’t always return their calls as promptly as I’d like. But truthfully, it’s a small price to pay for having such a fantastic cleaner! Like all cleaning companies, it really does depend on the quality of the individual cleaner who you are assigned. We’re very pleased.

poor job of cleaning had them for 5 months left 25 min early quiet few times management did not even correct the problem. WARNING WATCH YOUR VALUABLES…

The people that cleaned our house were very very kind and nice. The quality was not that great though I kind of wished I would have saved my money and just cleaned my house myself … I will not use this company again … I was quoted a price of $ 103 for 4 hours and then billed $ 125 but let it slide thinking that maybe they were going to do an extra good job? WRONG … Save your money look elsewhere for a cleaning service

Very hard working girls got here right on time fast and efficient a friend of mine referred them to me. she’s picky so I knew I could trust it would be a great experience.

2 cleaners for 2 hours is 4 hours for $ 76. generally punctual. did a good job from 2005 – 2010 come every 2 weeks. in 2011 the quality went down hill, frequent turnover of cleaners quitting. i have gone thru 3 teams of cleaners this year so far. waste of my money to spend 20 minutes with new team of cleaners explaining were everything is and what/​how i would like things cleaned. they use my supplies. i leave a list in english but i dont think they can read english. — — -i like to have my floors mopped with pinesol once. then with another mop seperate clean water only mop — go over the floors a 2^nd time to remove loosened dirt and pinesol residue. —– any way they didnt even use the 2^nd mop which was dry. i have 5 quickie mops because i hate dirty floors. when i clean my floors u can eat off them. i cleaned houses in college so i know its a hard job. i rather have 2 rooms cleaned really really good, then a whole house so — so.

I highly recommend using A Better Way housekeeping. They are always available to schedule service and we have never had a issue with theft. In fact a $ 100 bill was presented by housekeepers after it was found in the dryer.

Just an update… I still think they are good but I will be ending my service at some point for a change. Since my 1^st review, the quality of work is good, but I prefer more detailed. I leave lists and ½ of the items don’t get done. They have damaged furniture and baseboards of the house due to hard vacuuming. I’ll recommend these folks if maybe you are looking for something short-​term (a year or for a major move out cleaning). I think they maybe getting complacent with having me as a customer.

We’ve used A Better Way since 2004 and we couldn’t be more pleased. Martha has been with us the entire time and she’s never missed a single day. Additionally, she makes time to help us with special cleaning needs like prep for a party or cleaning after a move. My children love her and consider her part of the family! I would be lost without her.

Disappointing. I have used other cleaning services and when its the first cleaning, it your time to show what a great job your crews can do. First, the kitchen. A counter left dirty, the stainless steal appliance left unpolished, sink left with water spots, garbage not emptied. Living room, couches not dusted, pillows and blankets not straightened. Bathroom, mirrors left with smudges. Guest bedroom left with blankest not straightened, finally, the master bed not made with fresh linen on the bed. When I called to cancel and provide the list of «not done» the question was «Did you leave a list» Are you kidding? These are basic to any cleaning service. Will not use again.

I have used A Better Way Housekeeping for a few years and I noticed the quality is going downhill. In the past year, they had missed quite a few scheduled cleaning appointments and the management can’t seem to make any improvement after several complaints. I finally decided to go with some other company because they once again decided to change my schedule to accommodate someone else’s, without even notifying me before the change. I will never use their service again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
