We stayed at the Hilton next door and this bakery was so easy to reach. Bought a cake for $ 20 that has a layer of Taro fillings, so good, even though the design was decades old but I’ll bet it tasted better than the fancy modern looking other kinds we could’ve chosen. The other baked items such as buns and pastries are all pretty good. The only quib I had was that it’s a cash-only business, so make sure you have money on you!

Really small bakery that gets their bake goods delivered from Cathy’ bakery. So far we had the ham and cheese loaf. It was $ 3.50 but recently when up to $ 3.75. So delicious when you microwave it for a few seconds… Mmmmm! Call in advance to put things you like on hold.

OMG yes. I always come here everytime I visit Cali. They are always nice as much as their English can take them haha the food is always beautiful and tongue watering looking. The taste is just a great or even better. The price is perfect so affordable anything back at home would be twice if not three times as expensive.

They have beautiful cakes. Whoever designs them are very talented indeed. I recently came in to purchase a bday cake off the shelf. There was a decent amount to choose from. I’ve had their cakes before and they were absolutely delicious– filled w/mango & strawberries. I’ve had my share of bakeries and either the bread was too dry or not enough fruit or it just plain didn’t taste good. This place… the cakes are loaded w/fruit inside and out– which I luv!!, the cake bread is moist and delicious and the cake designs are so pretty. The prices are decent for me– up to $ 35. I’ve had cake w/just plain cream or mocha inside(yuck!) and they charged me over $ 40, so this place had the right prices for me! Yes parking can get packed but there’s always street parking. Hope you enjoy!

I love their cakes! Some would say it is a pricy place but after a taste of their cakes, you’ll think it’s worth it too. Their customer service isn’t mind blowing, but it isn’t too bad either. You can customize a cake but you would have to give them a day to two days notice. You’ll be able to chose a design and what will be inside. I always go with strawberry and vanilla, but I recently tried their mango and vanilla and it was good too! Those who had a piece of the cake I bought here complimented the cake as well.

Bought bakery here for a friend. IT was around noon and perhaps it was about 60% still stocked with bakery goods. Not a busy store but they were nice to display it all in a box for us since it was a gift.

Extremely helpful and friendly. English wasn’t the first language of the employee that helped me, however, she was kind and very patient with explaining everything that the shop had to offer. I wanted to get some Melonpan(I made it as a surprise«Dinner and Movie Night» for my wife while we watched Shakugan no Shana and was curious if I came close), but they either didn’t carry it or she couldn’t understand my explanation. No matter, she pointed me in the direction of her favorite snack(Pineapple Bun) and the one that her daughter enjoyed the most(Pork Bun). I picked up two more buns that looked tasty(one was a Cream Bun). I enjoyed all of the Buns and brought my wife back that night so that she could try the Cream Bun(my favorite). We picked up three that night for a snack and for breakfast in the morning(they open early, but we had to leave for our flight at 5am). I’m giving it 4.5÷5 stars. If they had some seats outside(I’m not sure if this is allowed at the shopping mall though), I’d give it a 5⁄5. As it is, I had to take my treats back to the hotel.

I bought the cranberry bread and a couple of other sweet bread. Very good! Prices are great and the lady in the front took the time to explain the the different types of breads she had available.

Been here a few times already… bought their cake before, their buns and cheesecake Cake was a little better than average… Buns were okay… The Asian burrito tasted a bit off. Well, my fault I shouldn’t have bought it in the first place but I was craving some meat lol so why not… Cheesecake was good! Service: ehh? I don’t mind them staring at me here and there but the whole time? Made me felt awkward and like some freaken criminal… it annoyed me and I couldn’t even get a thorough look at all their goodies… was it my fault because I were pj’s? Still, minimal the staring level… it makes the customers feel more comfortable when choosing or looking for what they want.

They didn’t have a huge selection but the girl was super helpful. I told her how many people were gonna be at the party and it took her one minute to write a happy birthday greeting to my grandma in Chinese. Friendly, no attitude or anything. Parking downstairs in the garage. Cash only!

Cool cakes! Don’t understand why they call it Yo Yo Bakery instead of Cathy’s. This is a great place to buy birthday cakes, but it was annoying cause the prices weren’t listed and the description wasn’t either. We bought a cake and it wasn’t what they told us it was… ugh…

tried their pineapple butter milk bun for $ 1( ). the bread itself taste quite dry and the crust on top isnt crispy at all. but they did give a generous amount of butter milk inside, even though it didnt taste that good and quite dry also. the breads are decently priced(from $ 1 to $ 1.50 for a regular bun and $ 3 and up for a slice of cake). pretty much the same varieties as any other chinese bakeries.

This oddly named bakery is actually another Cathy’s Bakery, as they have the same owner. Stop by for their su pi dan gao, for $ 12. It’ll be a hit, wherever you bring it! It’s fresh, because when I got there, I could see the lady in the back stacking up the cakes and slicing them on order. Cash only, easy parking. Mandarin is the primary language of the bakery’s staff.

I passed by this place when I went to Ajisen a couple doors down, so I decided to stop by before I left the plaza. I like their wide variety of breads and cakes they have. When I come here I usually get, the mini croissants, the long horns(bread filled with a bean paste i think) and lastly the sponge cake. I like the mini croissants because I don’t have to finish the big portions that other bakeries make. I like the long horns because I have never seen anything like it at other bakeries. Lastly, I like the sponge cake because it’s very moist and there is a thin layer of cream which makes it just sweet enough for my taste. I can’t really write about the service because it’s self serve basically. But I took one star away because it seems like their long horns, and mini croissants seem to run out almost every time I go to the bakery. Final Verdict: I will keep coming back to this bakery for a long time, this is one of my favorite bakeries in the SGV. The breads and cakes are fresh and delicious!

RUDERUDERUDECUSTOMERSERVICE! Since my friends were in here buying some stuffs, I decided to check it out too. I found a mini sponge cake for $ 1.50 and made the purchase. I gave the cashier $ 20 because I didn’t have change and BOTH of the ladies gave me a DIRTYLOOK. WOMAN! If I had change, I’d try to get rid of it too and wouldn’t give you my $ 20. If only I could type this in Chinese so they could understand how horrible they are with their customers. So with that said, come in here only if you have changes or else she’ll give you that deadly stare. Oh, and the sponge cake I got wasn’t too bad. Not enough cream but not too sweet either. I’d get some more but I can’t come back unless I have changes.

Yo! Yo Yo Bakery: What’s up with the no picture policy? Thankfully, Jenny B. and Dave H. managed to get some clandestine shots of the carbolicious confections before yours truly got shut down. There was ONE item in particular that intrigued me: the Ebony and Ivory cake — toast thing. We were milling about outside, letting our dim sum and then some settle after doing some serious damage at Elite Restaurant… and a handful of us trickled in before Ching T.‘s UYE started at Strawberry Cones for Mochi Pizza. Jenny B. and I both contemplated the novelty of this particular petite loaf, before reaching out to pull the solo offering from its tray. Her hand touched it first. Okay, that’s cool… So I asked if they had more in the back. No dice. I was truly disappointed, because I was imagining the intriguing combination of this cake + toast hybrid. So I spent a few moments wondering how I could pilfer Jenny B.‘s purchase, which should have been rightfully mine in the first place. The cases of fondant covered cakes were«pretty» but not dazzling — I’m typically suspicious of confections that are aesthetically pleasing but do nothing for my palate… and these seemed to be more decorative than delectable. I didn’t buy anything because I was too annoyed at the«no pictures» policy. Next time I’m in town, I’ll make some purchases, but if Jenny B. said the Choco-toast was just kind of «meh» — I may stick to the usual suspects and stay away from the cakes.

I went in just to kill time while waiting for Ching T’s arrival at the Strawberry Cone next door and lucky for me, I got shots of this establishment before the cashier woman said, «No pics here!» Upon entry, I saw this one last piece of Chocolate cake with white bread inside, I’ve never seen such concept like that, it’s so cool and since I saw only one left, I grabbed it without knowing what it tasted like. Guess what? MY friend saw that too and she actually offered to wrestle me to the ground for it. Thank God there were crowds, if not, she’d probably took me down for it. LOL! I also got myself a bread with some chopped sausage and onion and that choco-cake bread. I think their bread were too packed and so it wasn’t that soft and fluffy, more like thick and stuffy, however their chocolate cake was pretty moist combined with the hard-white bread inside, I guess it gave a good combination, but the dough was just too much. Not really a big fan of this bakery, but it’s alright.

Yo Yo or Cathy’s Bakery? Frenchinese! Things I don’t understand in life, are many. Here are two! 1. Why does the outside of this bakery say Yo Yo when the ladies and the business card say Cathy’s Bakery? Even the bakery items state «Cathy’s Bakery.» 2. How does this bakery have the rating it does. This is one of the better bakeries I have been to in San Gabriel. Peeps just take things for granted! Very French and Very Chinese. Frenchinese! ~Vanilla Cookies Innocent and sweet. Twice as pretty as sugar but not too sweet. And guess what? You get a yummy strawberry treat in the middle. I love juicy yummy strawberry treats in the middle. These cookies were a surprise and a delight for me. Nice texture and each cookie perfectly sized equivalent to a bite. A very nice balance between flour, sugar, egg, and butter. I could care less about the packaging… Very beautifully packaged, these make for a great treat to give any of your loved ones. ~Napolean Lite and a flaky goodness that must have been prepared for the heavens. At a buck a piece, this is for sure my favorite item. What a deal. This is something you would find straight out of a French bakery. Amazingly textured to perfection, this bakery item is truly a heavenly delight. Yes, one dollar. You could have dropped me blindfolded in this bakery and I never would have guessed it was in San Gabriel. This is a unique twist and new style for me. I have favored Japanese-French and Vietnamese-French Bakeries all my life, but never Chinese. Here is my first and one for the books! I look forward to finding more of these places. One of the better Chinese bakeries I have been to and it blows away anything OC has to offer in this category(including 85c). This is a must try and I will be back ASAP!
