Yoga Flow SF – Union

I liked the class just fine, but the layout of the studio is so strange and inefficient that you end up navigating huge crowds (of sweaty, sweaty yogis) wherever you go, especially between classes. Students were lined up on the stairs just to slip on their shoes. There was a 5 – 10 minute line just to sign into class at the desk.
As for the class itself, the «All Levels Flow» felt more like an advanced, athletic power flow, which was fine with me but perhaps intimidating for beginners. I didn’t *love* the sequence because it did feel a bit repetitive, but there were a lot of interesting transitions and some deep hip stretches. This is one of those classes where you do bicycle crunches, so don’t expect a traditional sequence. At times, the music was WAY too loud and it was blaring during final resting pose. No bueno.
I’ll probably be back since it’s so close, but it’s not one of my favorite studios.

Really great studio in SF and is very accessible. The teachers range from good to awesome. Most have a great sequence (as a yoga instructor this is something I look for). Most have good music playing. Some have a suuuuper warm studio (which I love) others don’t use the heat as much, so you really have to find the instructors with the style you like. The place is always super clean, which is great when you’re walking around sweaty people. The owner also mentions that she bleaches the mats after each use to make sure all bacteria is sanitized and off of the mat. My favorite instructors are Anna Hughes, Susannah Freeman, and Lindsay Foreman.
The only downside is they’re VERY strict with their packages. I had one session remaining in my purchase, and I came one day after it’s expiration. While I get that they have to be stringent, a little flexibility on this would be awesome.
Also, parking can sometimes be a total pain, especially if you go for the 11am Saturday or Sunday class.

Beautiful studio that’s heated and spacious (the natural light is an added bonus). Instructors are great and attentive. Pace is great – not too fast and not too slow and the music adds to the ambiance. Great community vibe!
Class is great for all levels – meaning, you do you. Need a break? Pop down to child’s pose. Need to take an inversion? Go for it. No one will judge you and there’s a good chance the instructor will come over and help you.

I came with my friend to try Yoga Flow Union out and had a truly bad, unwelcoming and unfriendly experience. I generally love hot yoga and do it regularly, so this was very disappointing.
We arrived, clearly new to the studio because we were asking many questions and the lady who checked us in was rude from the start. She was not friendly, not helpful and rather unpleasant. We continued onwards, purchasing the mat, towel (which at other studios is 2 $ while here, is 3 $ ?!) etc and waited for class to start. The teacher came late to class and people were chatting loudly, reading a book, looking at their cell phones in the studio… The teacher was competent and the class was pretty good and challenging. The heat, however was blowing on us at times which is not what I am accustomed to — and prefer a consistently heated room.
After class we wanted to use the shower which the teacher said we had to wait 15 minutes to do and there was no soap provided. So we waited, and then we showered, and then she literally KICKED US OUT of the space saying we couldn’t be there anymore (it had been a total of 30 minutes and we were literally gathering our jackets to leave) — and yet there was NO ONE ELSE THERE. I have never been treated so poorly in a yoga studio before and would never recommend this experience for anyone else!!! I regret trying Yoga Flow and will never go back.

I tried this place last Sunday night for hot yoga and really liked it. Huge room and wood floors. The yoga place in nob hill that does hot yoga has carpet and that is just funky. The class, staff, and yoga room are great! I look forward to going back again this weekend.

I had mistaken the times when I booked a class and the person behind the counter wound´t let me take the class even though it wasn´t full. I even logged in to show that I had booked the exact same time but only tomorrow. She wasn´t sympathetic at all, but the opposite, she was rude. She treated me like I wasn´t welcomed at all, not even the day after when the class had been booked.
Then she added with a none-​welcoming tone, «you can take the class if you pay $ 20». I actually left crying. It wasn´t about the $ 20. I actually used to do that before I started with Classpass, it was about this place being willing to loose a customer, turn them down, because of $ 20!
I could totally understand that with people who have class pass that they can risk people just showing up saying «I booked a class» and then they maybe didn´t, but I logged in at the computer to show that I had made a genius mistake as it was the exact same time, the exact same class, only on the next day. That day I had been sitting for 2 hours across street at sushi place and waited for this class. I bought extra food at the sushi place to make sure that I wasn´t just one of the people sitting there without constantly eating, but my yoga class was 2 hours away and was little point in going home and back. To then finally be ready for the yoga class only to be meet with a rude not welcoming person, not being accommodating at all, makes me not want to return to this place. Which in the opposite of what I feel yoga places shoud be.
Dear Yoga Flow, I don´t understand how $ 20 can be worth treating someone like this or loose a customer. I understand you need income to survive but I have already payed thru class pass I had just booked the wrong day! To not let the person take the class when they have taken the long way over (and me who had waited 2 hours to take it) is straight out stupidity.

Libby’s Hip Hop Yoga Workshop was such a blast! She always makes the best playlists & adds some pulses and fun moves to the poses for a more intense workout. I wish they had this class every week

I love aha yoga. I wish they had better times though, the 8 pm all levels flow class is kind of late for me.
Pros:
+ HOT yoga (room is between 90 – 100 degrees I believe). The heat is amazing for your body, so I highly recommend trying hot yoga if you currently haven’t! Sometimes you gotta just sweattt that ishhh out! I don’t like classes that are only 80 degrees heated so thank you Yoga Flow for heating it up :)

+ Decent prices

Love this studio! Staff are all very friendly and are always welcoming when you arrive. The classes here are challenging — I usually get bored in yoga but here, you are constantly moving and constantly engaged. My favorite instructors are Libby and Stephanie. Libby’s class has great music and her voice is calming and inspiring. Stephanie’s class is challenging and she is very motivating. No matter what class you take — you will sweat. It’s a great studio for those who want the benefits yoga but also want a great workout.

I’m definitely a «newer» yogi, but still know a good yoga studio from a bad one. This place is great. All the instructors I’ve had are awesome & they offer a plethora of classes starting from 6am through 8pm. So schedule wise– its very easy to fit this in. The 1 hour cancellation policy helps deal with unexpected schedule/​life changes as well.
The studio itself is clean and welcoming, and the staff is really nice. I enjoy the ab workouts that are fit into all the classes, and have really come to enjoy the hot yoga sessions. My favorites though are the 6am classes, great way to start your day.
Only thing to keep in mind is that the classes get PACKED, especially the 8pm. So come early to get a good spot.

A hot yoga place that doesn’t smell– I AM IN!
I love the concept of hot yoga for myself but I have always had an issue with studios not being clean enough or super smell because people sweat buckets, but I never have had that problem with Yoga Flow SF.
I studio itself is a love spot, surrounded by greenery and a glass roof. I love coming to class early and just lying down and staring at the sky with leaves rustling around. The lady at the front desk is great. The instructors are amazing, they have a soothing voice that I appreciate. You need to pay for a mat ($ 2) if you don’t carry one. They let us participate at a pace that you are comfortable in but do guide you if they see room for improvement. Most of the attendees are good at what they do, but being a budding yoga enthusiast, I don’t feel out of place here.
Also the convenient location just aides the fact that I will surely be back for more hot yoga without paying the stench price: P

ClassPass brought me here, but this is the first studio that moved me to purchase a class pack outside of my membership. I just can’t get enough.
I remember my first class, Saturday 11am with Tom Lee. I didn’t realize it was heated (moderately), jam-​packed, and fast-​paced. 2 things I didn’t think I would enjoy as a beginner yogi. Now having advanced my practice, Yoga Flow remains one of my favorite studios. I love every instructor. They each have their different vibe and approach but always a just-​right challenging practice that can be adjusted despite your level. It doesn’t hurt that there’s a certain cool factor about them that I find both inspiring and beautiful. I’ve had Lindsay, Erin, Libby, Julia, and Kat… each has her own unique vibe. LOVE.
The music is great, the energy and sense of community addictive. Even the students who come here give off a really good vibe. Yes it gets crowded but there is something about moving together with everyone in such close proximity that makes me give my all in each class. Though yes, classes feel maybe 2 – 3 people overbooked… because it’s hard to move comfortably sometimes.
Be it a class to kick off or close out a day (and always a good # of attendees,) I always leave refreshed, exhilarated, and looking forward to the next time.

Love their classes, although make sure to book early because they fill up. Typically you can get in off the wait list though (I’ve never not gotten into a class off the wait list). Studio is great as long as you can get through the rigamarole of the front desk.
I was there on Friday, July 3 for a 9am class and wanted to rent a mat. I usually bring my own but that morning decided not to since I run to the studio. The woman at the front desk let me know it would be a $ 20 charge since they have a $ 20 minimum for credit card charges – interesting, since businesses aren’t legally allowed to require credit card purchases over $ 10. Check the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform Act of 2010. Also interesting since I’ve never seen this at a yoga studio.
While I love the classes themselves, business processes need a little work. I ended up just buying another class so as not to waste $ 16 (renting two mats – rented two since they’re pretty crappy). On the subject of mats, they really could have nicer ones for rent. I don’t think I’ve seen mats of such poor quality and in such a dilapidated state as they are here. But they work fine if you bring your own towel, which you will definitely need!
Overall, love the classes. They’re so good I overlook their inability to manage the business properly.

Came here for the first time a few weeks ago. I absolutely love the look of the studio! All of the windows and natural light put me in a great mindset. The class itself wasn’t bad either. It was challenging, but also not impossible and fairly easy to follow along. The main downfall was the mass amount of people they shoved in the class. All of a sudden my «great mindset» became me stressing about trying to not whack the girl next to me while ignoring the ones kicking me from in front and behind. So that was a bummer… but the potential is there and I’ll definitely give this place another shot.

I loved my first experience here! I signed up with Class Pass for heated yoga and will certainly return again.
Convenient location, lots of cubby space for belongs and 2 changing stalls, lots of room in a beautiful open studio with sky lights! The instructor Libby was amazing and had a great playlist!
The heat level was just enough but not uncomfortable. Great for all levels — with opportunity to take practice further if you prefer but has safe modifications for beginners too.

I tried out Yoga Flow with their 3 classes for $ 30 promotion. Signing up online was really easy, as was scheduling a place in a class. I had no problems using the promotion or finding a class that would fit my schedule.
That being said, I will not be back. I’m trying to get into yoga because I’m a runner and I’m looking to build up the muscles that I don’t normally use. There didn’t seem to be much of a focus on upper body strength in the classes I took, but rather on leg strength and flexibility, which I don’t need. I’ve taken many yoga classes sporadically throughout the years, so I know the basics but definitely want to learn more. The classes are not instructive at all, and you’ll spend a lot of time peeking at your neighbor.
The biggest deterrent for me was the atmosphere. Plan to arrive early, because classes in the big room fill up very quickly. The classroom is LOUD and busy before class starts, with everybody (including instructors) catching up with friends and gossiping. The classes felt more like something that happens before brunch than a workout. On top of that, they seem to overbook by 10 – 15 people, which means you’re all packed in very, very tightly (but hey, all the better for figuring out what you’re supposed to do, right?) The atmosphere was way too stressful for me when I was supposed to be in a place of zen or something, and I left my classes far less relaxed than when I started.
It seemed like there was a problem with the heaters when I went. One instructor had to open the windows to cool it down because it was over 100 degrees. Paired with the overcrowding of bodies, it was just a really uncomfortable and sweaty experience.
Given the heater situation, I decided to try out the non-​heated class for the third class in my package. I arrived about 15 minutes early on a Saturday morning for a class that was being held shortly after a class in the big room. Before I could check in, the front desk girl told me that I had lost my spot because I was late. Great, except I wasn’t there for the class in the big room. Even though there was still room in my class, being among a crowded swarm of bodies in the lobby competing for precious floor space brought back bad memories of classes past, and I ended up skipping out before it started. Oh well.

I love this studio. I always walk out of class feeling refreshed and happy!
The space is beautiful with a ton of windows and natural light shining through. However, they tend to pack a lot of people in so it can get a bit crowded. The workout is the perfect balance between challenging and relaxing. The classes I’ve taken have always been heated to just the right temperature — despite the heat and plethora of people, I’ve never felt suffocated or uncomfortable!
Also, the music in Libbey Murfey’s classes are always on point and she always posts the playlists on Spotify! Woohoo!

I recently joined this studio and have always walked away a little bit happier, accomplished and sweaty.

+Rebecca Costa– she really does make you flow through yoga, perfectly paced and feels manageable even for beginner yogi’s; she knows how to keep things exciting and changes it up enough that the 90 minutes flies by
+Christie Marshall– also a great instructor who actually stopped to correct some of my poses (which i appreciated). i wish they could do this more actually

When it comes to yoga, it usually takes me a few classes to really get a feel for the studio. I like to experience most of the instructors and figure out whether the studio is a great fit for me. Having said that, my review could change after attending more classes, but for now these are my initial thoughts.
The large studio is spacious with hardwood flows and windows surrounded by beautiful green trees. My instructor was late for my first class. I never experienced an instructor being late, but I understand circumstances happen. I was disappointed that the room wasn’t hot and the practice wasn’t challenging enough. I’m assuming that most of their non-​peak classes are like that, but I wish that they could give us a notice in their schedule.
However, I went back for a Sunday morning class and the room was packed and the heaters were turned up.
One thing that bothered me was the tight space. I felt claustrophobic and didn’t have much space around me, which hindered me from doing certain poses. The vibe was upbeat with great music. The class was the right amount of challenge with of planks, twists and even ad exercises. If you’re looking for a gentle, spiritual class then this may not be for you.
