History

Established in 2004.

Wingtip’s website was launched as an eCommerce venture in the summer of 2004. The first brick-and-mortar store was opened in San Francisco’s Financial District in the fall of 2008. Wingtip, a social club for Wingtip’s best customers, was added in the summer of 2010. And in the Spring of 2011, the company opened a 4,500 sq ft store directly above the original store.

Most recently, the company signed a long-term lease to move to a new home at 550 Montgomery Street (at the corner of Clay) where the store and club now reside in a national historic landmark: the original Bank of Italy Building. The store occupies the building’s ground floor and lower level, while the club sits atop the two penthouse floors with stunning views of some of San Francisco’s most iconic landmarks.

Meet the Business Owner

Ami A.

Business Owner

Ami Arad’s journey to establish Wingtip was anything but conventional. While attending the University of California at Berkeley, he spent three and a half years working at a local men’s specialty store, George J. Good. The experience instilled in the young man a passion and respect for fine craftsmanship and the classic style, as well as nostalgia for men’s haberdasheries and a desire to exceed customers’ expectations.
