After spending a considerable amount of time speaking to other window treatment professionals, I finally met with Mike. He was far more professional, prompt, knowledgeable, informed and friendly than you could ever hope for.
He considered our existing interior design and sense of style and recommended what would work and why. We ended up doing almost every window in the house and the end result is absolutely fantastic.
He stands by his design recommendations, is very responsive and knows his products and manufacturers very well. At the end of the day we got premium products, BEYOND premium service, completely reasonable pricing and great looking windows.

Mike installed our hunter douglas honeycomb window shades. Not only did he recommend the best type for each room including blackout shade for the super bright rooms but made superior effort to return for even the slightest flaw in shade positioning. The price was outstanding as well as the service. I highly recommend going with this company for window coverings.

I too am a satisfied customer. Ordered some blinds from Mike. They came in and while most of them fit, had problems with one blind. Mike took care of the problem efficiently. One of the blinds had some issues a few months back and Mike just as quickly took care of that too. Would definitely go through him again.

Mike is fantastic: As others point out, he is very hands-​on, knows his products backwards and forwards, has honest and tasteful design suggestions, and makes you feel like you’re his only customer. On the day of the scheduled installation, his crew got stuck on another harder-​than-​expected project; instead of calling me to delay the installation, he just came and did the job himself. Just a tiny warning: you can get his attention easier by phone than by email.

Mike has done it once again. My dog just again destroyed the wooden shades in my bedroom and even though the company that originally did them went out of business, we received exact replicas that fit and look great. Mike is great and I have ALWAYS been very happy with his service, advice and pricing.

Bought customized solar shades from WWW over two years ago, but recently ran into an unsolvable glitch re: the chain. Michael promptly responded, having offered several tiers of service — and suggested the least expensive. He came, saw, adjusted and left, deferring any charge «because it was too simple.»

Mike is fantastic. He lead us through the entire process of selecting, ordering and installing Solar Shades for our apartment in the city. He came to our apartment to review and measure our windows and educated us on the color, materials, function and value of each product. He was very candid and helped steer us away from products he personally doesn’t stand behind. We really appreciated his point of view and sense of style; he has a great eye! In the meeting at our house, he helped us select the color and material for our shades. Within 24 hours our shades were ordered and then Mike personally delivered and installed the shades. He was incredibly focused on the details in the installation; our shades look fabulous and are super sturdy/​functional. As if that wasn’t enough, Mike came back to our place on a Sunday to install an extra shade we decided to add a few weeks later! I agree with other reviews on the timing, but when talking to other vendors, it seems it’s a function of the industry and not of Mike’s service. He gets things in as soon as possible and in our case, installs them within 24 hours of arrival!
Overall, Mike is fair, very detailed oriented, efficient, and easy to work with. His pricing is very competitive and includes installation. He has a great eye and actually tells you what he thinks (very helpful!). I highly recommend him to anyone who needs window treatments in their home.

I had an amazing experience buying my solar shades from Window Wears West/​Mike Witkop. We met at his office and chose a few fabrics. He then brought the samples to my house to test the amount of sunlight being blocked. Wow what a difference the density makes when you have strong full facing sun up to sun down blazing rays to block. We decided on a color and fabric right then and there and I was very excited. Excited about buying blinds? Yes, very! A couple of weeks later, as expected, they arrived. Mike came buy and had 4 large windows done in ½ hour including taking down and disposing of the old.
Mike is professional, informed and easy to work with! I highly recommend him to anyone in the market for window coverings. He makes it a fun and painless purchase. I’ll be satisfied with mie for many years to come!

I recently had a 10 year old set of Hunter Douglas blinds that needed to be restrung. From reading reviews on Unilocal,I called Window Wears West. I was expecting to pay a fair amount of money to get them fixed, but Mike not only told me it was covered by the warranty but also he did not charge me a dime for the service. I merely had to drop the blinds off and they took care of the rest. I really felt that they went out of their way to help me even though I have never purchased anything from them (though I will contact them first if I am ever in need of new blinds)

This was a Unilocal find. Back when I rarely used Unilocal,I had gotten a quote from Costco (very nice woman, and professional, too) and then Unilocaled this company. Decided to go with Mike because he was more opinionated. This is the first home I own so I have no idea what I’m doing. Mike seemed to know exactly what would look good and how it should be done and didn’t leave it all up to us, which is what the Costco lady did. My husband trusted Mike and his eye for interior decorating.
I do agree with other posters that you do need to have patience and time. If you’re in a rush to install window treatments you’ll be in for some wait.
We started with WWW in February, and finally had our last blind installed in August. During that time, they provided us with temporary shades, and kept in touch with us (you probably need to call or email them pro actively). But months did go by without news of our shutters, which took six months to get right.
We now have 15 windows (all different sizes, mind you, so that’s 15 different measurements — more work for WWW!) dressed in blinds, and four dressed in plantation shutters. In total, we spent just under $ 4000, just to give you an idea. The shutters took the longest to install because the color just didn’t match the window frame each time. Now it’s mostly right, and you wouldn’t know unless you looked closely. Mike was very picky about the colors matching, mind you, that’s why it took so long. He wanted his work done right. I must say though, Mike chose the right style for our house. These window treatments are a great investment.
Mike came by to drop things off for me in-​between appointments and was always very professional and business-​like. We enjoyed dealing with this company. We would recommend Windows Wears West to anybody.
We give this company four to 4.5 stars because because you should know that things will take time.

I had a good initial meeting with Mike, and he took my order. He certainly could have been better communicating regarding the status of my window treatments. After hearing nothing for weeks, I asked for an estimated time when they would arrive. I received a terse, «I told you it would be a while» response.
A few weeks later, I had to ask again to find out that the materials were ready and we could schedule installation. To Mike’s credit, the installation was scheduled immediately to fit the day most convenient to me.
I am satisfied with the window treatments, but be aware of the following:
1. You will have to endure three «waiting at home for a contractor» days. One for the initial meeting with Mike, one for the installer to measure, and finally for the actual installation. There must be some way to get the correct measurements when the order is taken to avoid that second visit.
2. Mike charged my credit card for the balance due on the day he scheduled the installation, rather than waiting for the actual installation and my final approval.
He did not give me any notice that he was making this charge. I only found out when I got my credit card statement. It turned out OK since I was satisfied with the window treatments, but if there had been a delay in the installation or any kind of problem, I would have been very upset that he had charged me before I received the goods. In every other home improvement project I have endured, the final payment is not expected until the job is completed.
In my view, this was technically an unauthorized charge to my credit card, and I certainly don’t feel good about that. Fortunately, it did not result in any actual harm to me, but I feel obligated to alert others to it. On a tight budget, having a charge show up on a credit card bill the month before it is expected could cause problems.

One of friend of mine recommended me this company, because they did a great job for him and he LOVES his new blinds!
I am not a cheap and like to pay for what I get.
But this company surprised me for the quality of job and the price!

I am a renter in San Francisco. My apartment had less than desirable window coverings. Mike provided many options, but I went with his recommendation for wood blinds for my place. The stain matches in both rooms are perfect. Everyone who sees them compliments me on how beautiful they are. I highly recommend Mike, and his recommendations!

Phenomenal Service and Integrity. I had the pleasure to work with the owner Mike, on replacing a broken window shade for my apartment in downtown SF. He was great at putting together a phenomenal price, worked with me on the options and was great.
He even personally went to our apartment to measure the dimensions. Upon inspection, he showed us that our shade was fine, and didn’t need replacement. He adjusted the shade for us at no charge! This type of integrity and service is a rare find, and I would highly recommend anyone looking for shades or windows to work with Window Wears West.

used them for some blinds and cellular shades. Came out to measure, and we went by his office to actually order, was likely a small order for them. Overall product looks good, but after sale support has been not good. Hasn’t responded to emails I’ve sent requesting quotes for some more stuff, and we had a latch on our cellular shade break. He said he contacted the manufacturer for a replacement, but has been very slow in getting back to us with status. Overall would recommend, but they really should be more responsive post sale.
If you want to do it yourself and you are a Costco member, you can order directly from them (I think it’s like
), but make sure you get measurements right. Investing in a laser measure may be a good idea.

I almost feel lame giving them yet ANOTHER five star review, but damn, does Mike deserve it. I emailed him a while back, letting him know we wanted plantation shutters and he was up front enough to tell me right then that they probably cost more than I think they do. He was right, but we got them anyways. And they are fabulous.
The minute he scooted up to the house, I felt in good hands. Our idea was «um, we like shutters», and we basically left the rest up to him. He knew exactly the look that we were going for and even recommended a less expensive material and gave us excellent customer service. He come out about a kajillion times to measure (our fault) because we had not yet installed the new windows when he gave us our initial quote, then he measured and remeasured and his shutter guy remeasured again. And always with a smile, always very friendly, and accommodating with the changes that came with the new windows. And when there was a mix up with the old swiss mocha vs new swiss mocha color, he covered the change to custom color at no cost to us.
The shutters look great! And his installer was FAST. The were done before they were even scheduled to show up! (They had a key.)
If I had more windows, I would totally call WWW again!

Mike and his guys are to be recommended — we had a big window to cover in our loft, so we had numerous interior designers come through to propose solutions. The offer that we got from Window Wears West sounded the best and came in at the best price.
A few problems with after-​sales serivce (mainly with obtaining replacements for for faulty parts) prevent me from awarding five stars, but the finished product looks great and I’d definitely use WWW again.

Despite my reluctance at having a salesman in my home, Mike immediately put me at ease with his casual and unpushy manner. I told him what I had in mind, and he gave me a suggestion. I told him I wasn’t interested in his suggestion, and he didn’t bring it up again.
Instead, Mike had lots of great suggestions to help me get what I wanted, and ended up giving me an ideal solution that cost much less than I was expecting! Unlike most people I deal with, Mike corresponded reliably with me over email, which is a huge advantage to me. He was patient until I was ready to order, and answered all my niggly little questions.
My shades arrived last week, and his installer did a quick and easy job to get them up. A week later, and they look even better than I imagined!

I recently bought a 3-​bedroom flat in the Duboce Triangle area and desperately needed some window blinds/​shades. What to do?
Step 1: Go to Unilocal
Step 2: Look at all the reviews for window shades/​blinds companies
Step 3: Realize that most of them have bad or questionable reviews except for Window Wears West
So I called Mike and he setup an appointment to visit my place the next day. I had some idea what I wanted (read: something cheap and functional). As soon as he walked into my place though he told me «You have to go with wood blinds for this place». Wood blinds? I didn’t even consider wood blinds. Are they expensive? Do I need a second mortgage? Will they *really* look good?
Which leads me to Step 4…
Step 4: Trust Mike, he knows what he’s talking about.
Anyway, Mike convinced me to go with these Hunter Douglas wood blinds. Now that they’re installed I can see why others rave about his service. The blinds look hot! The dude knows what he’s talking about.
Anyway, for prompt, professional service that is priced reasonably (I said reasonable, it’s still gonna cost you some $$ to get quality blinds installed — but it’s worth it) I’d go with Mike & Windows Wears West again in a heartbeat.
