Wilson Properties

I rented a property from Marc Wilson for two years and have to say he did exactly what was expected from a landlord i.e.respond swiftly to repair request and keeping common area clean and in good conditions.

I am one of the occupants in a house right next door to his apartment block located on corner of Argüello and where Balboa Street begins. I and three other people (namely, the property owner of this house I live in, one of her daughters and her son-​in-​law and myself were present in somewhere between 2005 and 2007 as I cannot remember the exact year) as Wilson Properties had put up a wooden fence in the little space that had existed between our two properties for longer than I have lived here strictly out of paranoia.
This was the only emergency escape route for us in back in the event of fire, earthquake or other natural catastrophe, and Marc or one of his employees had agreed with four other people (Myself and the afore stated people as witnesses) to put an emergency door into that fence only accessible from our property. Indeed they did proceed with this installation of this door.
Then a year or two ago (2013 –2014) to our horror, we had discovered that either Wilson properties had padlocked that door from their side or one of their paranoid occupants had meddled and had locked this door, but I contacted Marc and I got a ‘Joshua’ who agreed to have that padlock removed. He or someone he told had done so. Fine…
BUT! This year (2015) the lock had been REPLACED! Thus denying elderly Chinese occupants, the property owner herself being 94 years of age, and the rest of this household, me inclusive, or indeed other properties within our block emergency egress!
I had twice contacted the fire inspector and they screwed up on their part and did not even check for fire code violations by having this padlock in the first place! And I had used to think so highly of the SFFD! This to me is flagrant violation of fire safety codes and very surprising that even the San Francisco Fire Department reneged on their responsibility of inspection and enforcement! Shameful!
…And shame on Marc Wilson, I have read some of his other bad reviews here and he even initially REFUSED to read my urgent email message claiming it was ‘too long’! Then I called and contacted this Joshua fellow).
Please don’t rent from Wilson Properties, they are part of the ‘One-​percenters’ money grubby greedy capitalist pigs, and who do not give a fig for personal safety at his building or elsewhere! He seems to be a crook!

They are extremely responsive and have always been easy-​going in regards to repairs needed or question we have had. They even let me move in to my apartment a few days early without charging, since the apartment was empty. They are super people and I really appreciate their hard work and kindness.

Lived in two different unis in a Wilson Properties building for 7 years!
Marc Wilson was always quick to fix things and return calls. went above and beyond when the kitchen flooded from the apt upstairs. would definetly rent from Wilson Properties again!

Marc Wilson is arrogant and smug. He is not pleasant to deal with in the least. I love my apartment, the location and my neighbors, but I hate dealing with him. I have made it clear a number of times over the past 7 years that I do not want anyone in my apartment when I am not home. Mr. Wilson or his agents have enterred my home without my permission multiple times. He sent me an email today admitting his error in letting a workman into my apartment, but then went on to state that from now on all requests for non-​emergency repairs must be in writing and sent via fax or mail to his office. I am not allowed to call, email or leave voicemails and he refuses to speak with me verbally. The man is the least professional person I have ever dealt with in my life. If it was possible to give less than one star I would.

He’s a man of very few words but who cares. He provides an apartment that is taken care of and is highly responsive to all things that go wrong. The icing on the cake is that after we moved out and bought our own place he quickly filled out mortgage rental papers for us that our lender required (and did it when we refinanced). Highly recommend.

End of day Tuesday my check arrived in the mail. No email, no call. Still not pleased left hanging all day Monday.

Rented from Marc Wilson for three years. The best landlord I’ve ever had, aside from my aunt.
We had a mouse problem early on, and to compensate us for the hassle of traps and the ick factor, Marc lowered our rent by $ 100 for an entire year, even though the problem was solved within two weeks.
Let us adopt our dog without any pet deposit or increase in rent.
When the lock on the back door broke, he had someone out to fix it that day.
When our lease was up and we went month to month, let us move out on 2 weeks notice and let us pay for just that time, when by law he could have demanded 30 days and taken the full rent.
Refunded every last penny of our security deposit, despite some scuffs and nicks on the walls and floorboards as we moved out that he would have been within his rights to charge us for, and a decent but not spectacular job of cleaning.

Marc Wilson has been a great landlord. He’s not a man of many words but he’s efficient and did his job. We had a gas leak not too long ago and it took a few days for it to be fixed. He knew we were without a stove and offered to reimburse us for a temporary unit. Every call has been answered quickly. Thank you Marc for all your help.

I currently gave Marc at Wilson properties a check for $ 300 as a deposit to hold an unit, I then called him back within 1 hour and told him I wasn’t interested in the apt. anymore due to there no being enough storage for my belonging. Marc stated, «No problem, I’ll mail you a check tomorrow, that was 14 days ago… I called him to inquire about my $ 300, he said sorry I can’t give you that money back, I might have said yes, but I must have been thinking of something else» With that being said I would be skeptical about leasing anything from this guy… or this company.

It has been a pleasure renting from them! If I wasn’t moving into a bigger place with the gf, I would totally continue living in my studio apartment in a well-​kept building in NOPA. My only complaint would be that it’s kind of hard to get ahold of them on weekends, but during the week response time to requests is very quick! Marc has also been very quick to help remedy the occasional inconveniences. I highly recommend them.

Marc and Julie Wilson are a pleasure to rent from. All repairs requests are addressed in a timely and courteous manner, and the contractors they use for the various repairs are friendly and respectful. Once, my power went out on a Sunday evening, and since the circuit breaker for my unit was in a locked area, Marc came out himself to flip the switch. It’s a pleasure living in the unit.
