This store is actually going out of business, not just putting up fake «going out of business» signs; last day is the end of February. The owner, a Chinese man who’s always sitting in the back reading Chinese newspapers, said the rent was raised too high.
Most of the inventory is decades old; the Casio watches in the window have a style of light that hasn’t been used in… a very long time. The knives under the counter are partly rusted.
The owner isn’t even fun to negotiate with; he’ll bargain, but he’s antagonistic about it.
But it gets two stars because it’s a fun place to browse, you may find something worth buying as he liquidates, and I’m sad some parts of the old Mission are going away with gentrification.
