Excellent dentist, great staff, nice office, and beautiful views! I’ve been going here for years!

I love Dr Barcellona! It makes me feel old to think I’ve been going to him for 8+ years.
Here is an example about how good Dr. B is. A few years ago, I cracked a tooth on the Sunday of a Memorial holiday. I called and left a message on their answering machine. I got a call 45 minutes later (yes, that is 45 MINUTES), not Tuesday as I expected. He asked if I could come in on Monday (a holiday). Well, my tooth didn’t hurt too badly as long as I didn’t chew on that side (plus I was at a really nice hotel in Carmel, eating amazing food and drinking luscious wines) so I wasn’t about to cut the weekend short to drive back. He saw me first thing on Tuesday morning, recommended his friend, an amazing periodontist, in the building (for a tiny bone chip that moved) and fixed me right up.
These days I only see Dr. Barcellona when he stops by to see me during my cleanings, which I’m both sad and glad about.
Pros:
1. His staff is awesome. I don’t even mind getting the «floss more» lecture.
2. They are always on time. I never have time to read their magazines.
3. They are fast. I am in and out in under an hour.
4. Email reminders. If you need to reschedule, you can do that via email as well.
5. Recent GOOD magazines (my allergist has some from 2008). If you read Dwell, Vanity Fair, Architectural Digest, etc, you won’t be disappointed. They even have the prerequisite People, but they don’t have a ton of the tabloid magazines. I’m sure they have others I don’t remember… see #2 above.
6. Great music on the playlist.
7. Pay parking in the building if you really need it. I park at the Sutter Stockton garage for around $ 5.
Cons:
1. They won’t come to my house and floss for me.
2. Starbucks at the corner always lures me in and ruins my newly cleaned teeth.

Great dentist that gives you concise information as he’s doing it. It was a pleasure to be his patient.
We walked through the steps of what he was doing. I got two fillings in due to old fillings chipping away and a cavity. He explained the whole process, what the x-​ray showed, and then got to work. I was out of there rather quickly.
His office manager Rus is a pretty nice, welcoming guy. So hats off to him as well.
Came back in for a teef cleaning, and the dental assistant (forgot her name, sorry!) was just as knowledgeable about what she was doing. Told me plaque was creating a «matrix». All I could think of after that was a net of plaque building up underneath my gums. That and the film Matrix. Showed me proper flossing, and what I was probably doing wrong. Gave me some expandable floss that seems to work pretty nicely. All in all, a good trip to the dentist.

Dr. Barcellona was my dentist when I lived in SF and I loved him. He was attentive, understanding and very accommodating. I usually hate going to dentists, can’t stand needles, etc. But, Dr. Barcellona was great!

From early on in life, my teeth have been cursed. Soft enamel, crowded, cross-​bite, fillings and crowns, adult orthodontia – you name it. As I’ve traveled from one reclining dental chair to the next, I’ve come to know whether I’m in the hands of an expert or a charlatan. Dr. Barcellona and his staff are the best I’ve seen from here to LA. He’s always easy to work with, and always has the most up to date equipment. The office is modern and clean, and the staff is very professional. Over the last few years, I’ve tried the different hygienists, and they’re all excellent and have great attitudes.

Dr Barcellona is awesome! I love his office staff, the office (great view, tvs that play movies, great music), and great location with in-​building parking. When I needed my root canal, he sent me to a great oral surgeon, and when he felt my crown wasn’t fitting correctly (twice), he fixed it for free. I don’t think it was his mistake at all, it was just one of those things that happens. Nothing ever hurts with him, shots or otherwise. He even gives me a block to bite on when my jaw muscles get too tired from keeping my mouth open during the longer procedures. Very considerate and a pleasure to visit!

Once you find a great dentist you never change! That is my rationale… and I found a great dentist in Dr. B! I have actually begun to call him my «friend-​tist» because he’s so caring and aware of what I’m going through in the chair and he shows concern just to make sure you’re always comfortable. My teeth and gums have shown great improvement over the past 5 years that he’s been my friendtist, as I always want to go back to him (regularly, every 4 – 6 months) and show that I’ve taken great care of my teeth!
Dr. B has a great supporting team in Russ, the office manager, who is always there to greet you when you arrive and schedule your next appointment when you leave; and Claire, who is my hygienist and is always aware of the issues I had during my prior visits and also checks with me regarding any new issues I have. She is also very careful with cleaning my teeth. I’ve chatted with his team and they all love Dr. B, so that says a lot about him as well! And I love the office! It’s such a bright, modern space and the music they play in the office definitely fits!
I’ll continue to visit Dr. B as long as I’m in SF and if I ever happen to move away from SF, I’ll probably find a way to come back for my cleanings, etc. when I visit friends. He is out-​of-​network for me, but I don’t care, because great dentists are hard to come by!

I’ve been seeing Dr Barcellona for 3+ years, and he and his staff are absolutely top notch– without the stuffiness or attitude that maybe places that are this good would have. Dr B is so down to earth and friendly, and he has made an office environment that is welcoming to all. I came to him first after visiting another dentist who told me i had over 20 cavities– and I had never had a single cavity. Dr B’s examination revealed teeth staining but not a single cavity! Thank goodness. And his hygenist is so nice and knowledgeable– I look forward to seeing her!

This is an awesome dentist. The office is clean and modern, everything is electronic (x-​rays, client files). You even view your x-​rays on the screen in front you as they are taken. I was in today for a cleaning with Claire, who is super nice and understanding of my lack of a flossing habit, and the doc stopped in just to check on how I was doing. Super super nice.

I hate switching dentists but Dr. Barcellona came with a great referral from a good friend. I’m so glad I did! The entire staff was so friendly and helpful, his office employs electronic medical records which is not only cool but environmentally smart.
I was able to see my x-​rays immediately after they were taken and the x-​rays were thoroughly explained. The total process was explained to me as he went along from the exam to the cleaning by the hygienist who was thorough and friendly.
I find PhantomHayes review interesting because when I asked about bleaching trays both he and the hygienist refused because my teeth are so white they «made him want to go home and bleach» his.

Dr. Barcellona is the man. Let me tell you why. My old dentist one day decided to tell me that I had 13 cavities. I have never had a cavity in my life, so I thought it was odd. He also didn’t want to show my xrays so I could see for myself. I told my boss and he recommended his dentist, Dr. B. Well turns out I didn’t have one single cavity! I’ve been going to him since, which has been about 8 years. My friends and husband see him too. He’s honest and wonderful. One time I had a tooth emergency and he took the time on a Sunday to help me out personally. I love this dentist. I didn’t even want to see a new dentist when I moved to Seattle briefly cause I didn’t want them messing up what Dr. B has already done for me!

Nice Staff. Nice Guy. My teeth were fine as is though. He upsold me on replacing my old metal fillings with new shiny white ones. I have been chewing on my right side ever since and cannot eat anything hard on the left.
You can go here just don’t buy into the the upsells. I guarantee you don’t grind your teeth and the little spaces in between your old fillings are just fine. If its not broke then don’t fix it.

Previously, all the other dentists I had ever gone to were horrible. From my childhood through most of my adult life, I hated going to the dentist. My experiences were so awful, I even stopped going to the dentist all together for almost 5 years!
Then I mentioned to one of the VPs at work that I hated going to the dentist. He told me about Dr Barcellona. Now, usually, I wouldn’t take his recommendation so seriously (remember my bad experiences?) But this VP was a total «primadonna», hyper, and very particular about everything. (mind you, he was a great guy, but super high strung.) So I figured, well, if anyone can handle this VP, that is who I would want to see.
On my first visit, I felt comfortable. Everything was explained to me in great detail, even prior to touching my mouth! He described how numb i should feel, how much pain to expect, and what exactly why and how he was going to touch my teeth. Very gentle. Even during the cleanings with the other hygienists in his office, they describe everything to me so that I was made comfortable.
I can honestly say that I love this dentist! I have been going to him for almost 3 years now and have probably recommended 5 of my friends and coworkers and now they all love him too. Everyone in his office is super friendly and helpful. All the equipment is brand new, with TVs to watch DVDs on and headphones to drown out the drill sounds.
His office is in the «Dentist Building» of 450 Sutter St. It is literally a 15 minute walk from my office on 2^nd and Folsom. So, for my cleanings I’ll run over there on my lunch break. He only accepts PPO, no HMO. But he’s totally worth it. If i could give him 10 stars, I would!
