Vania Avila For Color At Patrick Evan Salon

I was lucky enough to find Vania through a coworker and thank goodness I did! I moved to SF from Boston and finding a good stylist wasn’t easy. I came to Vania with a botched color job and a really bad cut and she turned it back to a perfectly bleach blonde asymmetrical cut. Vania is extremely creative, but really listens to what her client wants. I trust her vision to try anything with my hair. I see Vania about every 6 weeks and could not imagine seeing anyone else! I’ve referred my closest friends to her that have very different hair types than me and all have become repeat clients. Vania is amazing!!!

Vania cut and colored my hair for four years when I lived in San Francisco. I really loved the way my hair was when Vania was styling it. She has my highest recommendation!

Last year, I made a huge mistake and went in for a last-​minute trim to a place walking distance from my house. The next day, I had to run to Vania for her to fix it. Vania is THE BEST.
I seriously mean that. I’ve gone to other stylists in the area when I moved to the bay area– and none of them were nearly as remarkable as Vania. I’ve been having my hair cut, bleached and toned by her for OVER 7 YEARS! And without fail, I get compliments upon leaving the salon for the ‘champagne’ tone she uses on my ultra bright platinum hair.
Let me let you in on another secret: besides being a great colorist, Vania can manage even the most difficult of hairs… of which, is my baby fine, thin hair. That girl makes it look FULL, shiny as all hell, and with great movement. I’m also going to add that she helped me get my hair back in good shape after years of bad bleach jobs here in the US and Asia… without fail, she gets me on the right path to fixing my hair health that other stylists (and myself!) inadvertently have done in her absence. I love her work so much, that I would schedule appointments with her when I lived in Hong Kong– just to ensure I got time in with her when I could when I’d fly back to SF.
Vania is so great, that even my husband vies for her time for haircuts– who might I add has the thickest hair I’ve seen on a man– and she can wrangle that as well!

I have been a client for many years and am always amazed at what a gem of a hairstylist Vania is. She is great with cuts and color (which is not always the case for most hairstylists) and she is honest about what would work best for your particular hair texture/​style. Vania genuinely cares and wants to help you look your best. I have thick/​curly hair and have struggled all my life with managing it. Vania has helped me throughout the years learn how to manage my hair and makes me feel pretty every time i leave her chair! She pretty much rules :)

Vania is a true expert at her craft. She takes her time and is very thoughtful with her clients. She understands what you want in a cut or color and will give her honest input on how your vision will work with your face shape and tones. Then she executes exactly what you want, considering how you want it to grow out and how you normally style your hair. Her talent is versatile and really sells itself. I was referred to Vania by a friend and have in turn referred several people to her myself. My boyfriend, who never seemed to care about his hair has become a loyal client of Vania’s, expressing that he’d never realized how much of a difference a great stylist can make. When I came to Vania 7 years ago I actually had a fear of haircuts. Being butchered too many times had actually traumatized me to the point where I would go years without getting a cut.
Vania changed all of that. She put me at ease and worked with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. She always takes the time to make sure that she does a great job and she’s also really good about getting you in at a time that will work for you. To this day I won’t let any one else cut my hair.

Vania is an amazing artist/​stylists. I was referred by two friends a few years ago and can’t get enough of her! My first appointment was not only a collaborative discussion about what to do with my hair at that appointment, but how I wanted to maintain and grow it out. Her color skills are amazing. For me, she used the balayge technique that looks stunning. She is so skillful and makes the color look completely natural. Vania has been doing my hair for nearly a decade (both cut and color). What I appreciate about her approach is her ability to make the client vision come to life in a way that is flattering to the skin tone and face shape. My most recent color was Balayage or ombré and it was suttle/​natural, I really loved it. I’m also growing my hair from a pixie cut so it’s been a not so easy transition but she has maintained the process with layers which makes it so much more tolerable. Thanks dude, ya got skills.
