Tears filled my eyes as I saw that this beautiful establishment, having once brought true unadulterated happiness into my life, is now closed. RIP Tutti, you will be forever missed

Didnt have what I wanted like the one in Chinatown — No Milk Teas, just Yoghurts — disspointed so going to Quickly, but the Yoghurt here looks good !

Tuttimelon is yummy! This is my go-​to when I am in need of a sweet fix. Their prices are normal and their flavors change every once in a while. They also have gelato. But anyways, my frozen yogurt always comes to about $ 5 and I am always very happy with the amount I get. They have some seating but not a lot. If you come in a party of 3, be quick to grab another chair from another table. Cash only by the way!

practically grew up eating froyo — well not really it was really popular back in my high school days and there was a lot of competition for the best froyo but lets not get into that. I’m happy to see that they always have different flavors instead of the same flavors all the time. Located in a super busy area lots of places to eat lunch/​dinner and what perfect way to end your day after your meal? yeah froyo and i love that you can sample which flavors you like before purchasing. some places arent too happy bout samplers but hey what if your froyo aint good? yeah will be back!

It is self serve which is nice, but the flavor choices and toppings are very limited… they didn’t have cookie dough, brownies, or Reese’s which are usually what I go for with toppings. The quality of the frozen yogurt was very mediocre, it kind of tastes like cheap watery soft serve rather than creamy fro yo. This place also closes at 11pm, not 12. Probably wouldn’t come here again, yogurtland is much better.

3 stars because they don’t have many flavors OR toppings. Not to mention their kiwis are always under ripe. :/​

Ok, so I must say, I used to be a much much bigger fan of Tuttimelon until they recently up’ed their prices. They’re currently priced 49c per oz, and their «unlimited» Sumo bowl (fill it up with as much froyo & toppings as you want!) went from $ 9 to $ 11 – 12.
So, though «pricier» for my personal liking, i’m sure this is still very reasonable for most people. Although the flavors aren’t always the greatest, it goes through lucky cycles of good choices.

Disappointing.
Yogurt was watery and prices are more than Yogurtland/​Honeyberry/​etc. The fruity flavors were overly, artificially sweet, especially the Passion Fruit.
Best thing was the good service and cute décor. Would only come back if I were in that area and had a burning craving for froyo.

Unilocal says it’s open till 1:00am, but I got here at 11:55pm, and the lights are already off, doors are closed and the place is closed for the night!

Okay I mainly came in here because they had a sign for Takoyaki and there isn’t enough (or any) of this back where I live so I was stoked!!! I came in and was a little hesitant seeing as its actually a Frozen Yogurt place and I’d like to think a business excels when they focus on one thing, but I began to notice most business are pretty versatile like this one.
So the takoyaki was good! IT took a little time for it to get out since they would have had to make it once it’s ordered so by the time it got out, I was super hungry and it burnt my mouth, but to be fair I was warned haha. Only thing I have to say is that I don’ t think they actually made it and I“m a little spoiled when it comes to freshly made takoyaki. I take it that they got a bag and then fried it, but at least they didn’t shove it in the microwave. Also all the signs show 8 pieces of takoyaki screaming only $ 3! I knew it was too good to be true and sadly when it came out I only got 4 peices :(
Anyways as I waited I guess they also sell sushi and smoothies. So it seems like their menu ranges from Frozen Yogurt to Japanese food, both categories on my favorite list. They have a sumo bowl where you can can fill it as much as you want for only like $ 10 which is a pretty sweet deal if you can bring 3 of your friends you don’t mind sharing with them considering I usually spend at least 3 dollars on just a tiny bowl of FroYo anywhere.
Yes I’ll be back and I do love the flavors they offer.

Stopped by for a quick dessert to kill time.
I’ve always kind of strayed away from Tuttimelon because it’s pretty pricey, but someone else paid this time hah.
I got a regular size because I thought it would be pretty small and I wanted to get two flavors. It was pretty huge, actually. I kind of felt like a fat cow.
I got chocolate hazelnut and pistachio. Both were really tasty and rich. I think the regular cost $ 4 something which is generally how gelato is priced anyway.
Not bad.

It is funny how a froyo chain as generically dependable as Tuttimelon picks up the unique characteristics of the neighborhood in which the local shop inhabits. The one on the border between Chinatown and North Beach feels like a culture clash between East and West with a virtual U.N. assembly taking place among the multi-​ethnic customers in here. There’s the one out on West Portal, which feels much more homogeneous like a congregation of Aryan suburban stereotypes. And then there was the one that just closed on New Montgomery, a hangout for bohemian art students who probably made sculptures out of their cups of froyo and rainbow-​colored spoons.
This one in the Outer Sunset feels distinctly Asian. All you have to do is look at the flavors coming out of the spigots — taro, lychee, pomegranate, red bean. These are not the flavors you’re going to find at Michelle Bachmann’s favorite shopping mall. Yet they fit this neighborhood given the cornucopia of Asian restaurants and dessert shops in the immediate vicinity. Jamie W. and I found ourselves in here looking for something sweet after a nice Indian meal at nearby Noori. I went full-​blown Far East and maneuvered the spigots to give me equal parts swirls of taro and lychee, a tantalizing combination that made me feel like I was back at the floating market outside of Bangkok (see photo). OK, not quite, but you have to give me some creative license. We’re talking about frickin’ froyo for Pete’s sake.
FROYO — 4 stars… exotic flavors still taste creamy enough to come from Ben and Jerry’s factory
AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… still looks like any other Tuttimelon otherwise
SERVICE — 3 stars… I handled my own spigot, thank you very much
TOTAL — 4 stars… far-​flung Far East froyo for the discriminating froyo connoisseur

I’m not sure if it’s just the night I went or what, but that night, I bought four different cup of yogurt with a mixture of almost every flavor. For some reasons, they all look very melty as I was dispensing it from the machine. I especially like their tart and their taro flavor.
The topping selections were awesome. The strawberries were very pale and sour though.

TUTTI FRUTTI! what happened??? i swear you guys were always a 5 star in my book for the longest time. I come here once in a while especially on hot days to get my fix for froyo and always hope for good flavors to pop up.
This past week though, I came at 9pm and there were only 4 flavors posted and only THREE were available. That was pretty disappointing for a friday night though. I def hope it picks back up here

This place is a self-​served froyo place. They usually have around 6 different flavors each day such as, almond, tart, mango, strawberry, pomegranate, coconut, taro, etc. As usual, my order is a mix of strawberry, mango, pome, and taro flavored froyo with a healthy serving of mochi, fresh strawberries, and captain crunch. I wouldn’t say this place has really delicious froyo, it’s only a bit above average. It isn’t tart at all.
The location is convenient to hang out with friends, especially for a after dinner dessert. It is surrounded by a lot of restaurants. They have only a few small tables. Not really a place to lounge around in a big group.
The price is also reasonably cheap compared to other places.
They have gelato too. Never tried it.
I’m a frequent visitor when I’m in SF :)

I’ve never been a big fan of other Tuttimelon locations but after stopping in here last night, I’ve changed my mind!
1) Some of the best and friendliest service I have ever experienced in a fro yo store. The girl behind the counter deserved a massive tip. She made the experience.
2) Great flavor descriptions right next to the dispensers. They tell you everything from tartness to sweetness. They even give you suggestions on what toppings to put on for you non creative fro yo types.
3) Just a few chairs and tables strategically placed makes this location feel like a café instead of a fro you chain.

Okay so I’m a damn hypocrite (also apparent in my review for Kinokuniya). When this place first opened across the street on the next block, I believe I gave it a 1 or 2 star rating. Mainly, I was bitter that I couldn’t escape the socal culture. Besides, I came back to SF for a reason. Back then, froyo was a socal thing, and I had never had it or heard of it until I move to LA and was exposed to Pinkberry, which I also didn’t like. My poor bf loves froyo, and for the longest time I’d refuse to go with him to get any.
So it’s been several years since I’ve been back in SF and I learned to like and even appreciate southern California. I even hope to spend my graduate studies there; that’s if they’ll take me back. *please take me back, Los Angeles*
I also learned to like froyo.
I love that Tuttimelon is self serve now. The guava flavor is my favorite but I also like pomegranate, coconut, and almond, topped with mochi. It’s not too tart. It’s perfect.
So, as I accept socal, I accept froyo.

Saturday, October 24, 2009 — Grand opening day for the new self serve location of Tuttimelon.
I arrived at 10:45 AM for the noon opening. I was number 12 in a line made up of mostly my own people.
Five minutes into standing in line I thought to myself, «What the heck am I doing here? Am I poor? Am I needy? I’m standing in a line for over an hour waiting for a free cup of frozen yogurt! WTF!!!»
I didn’t jump out of line and go run some errands though. I decided to stick around. I’m still not sure why, but thank goodness for smart phones and mp3 players! Maybe it was the concern of being labeled a «quitter» after just 10 minutes in line. Maybe it was the thought of possibly meeting the infamous Fro-​yo Girl and her all too familiar Tuttimelon Bear. Maybe I stuck out the long wait out of just sheer boredom or maybe I actually wanted to be there!
The time didn’t go by very fast, and ironically Godsmack’s «Hollow» came on. How fitting! I was feeling those lyrics too. I finally engaged in conversation with some of the people around me. It made the time go by just a little faster.
It seems everybody was waiting for City Supervisor Carmen Chu who pulled up into her reserved parking space out front holding what looked like a proclamation. I’ve worked in a political office. I know what those things look like. All the «exclusive» people walked in and they did a small grand opening sequence and posed for a few photos.
Shortly after noon, Roy opened the doors, thanked and welcomed the line of people. His store manager and Supervisor Chu made short speeches welcoming us and thanking us for supporting neighborhood merchants. The line of people were escorted inside. The space was smaller than I expected. It’s larger than the previous Irving Street address, but I think the Chestnut Street location that I frequent most is still larger. A prize wheel was stationed at the front counter, and everybody spun it for a prize. I got a $ 5 gift card. That’ll probably be barely enough to cover one serving for me. I was handed a raffle ticket and told to enjoy my free frozen yogurt.
I made a bee line for the young lady holding the yogurt cups, but Tuttimelon Bear sitting on top of a table suddenly grabbed my interest. I recognized the famous Fro-​yo Girl quote stickered onto its sweater. There were two young ladies seated at the table, and neither looked red or blurry as the Fro-​yo Girl’s profile photo depicts. Eeny, meeny, miny, mo … I picked the right one! I’ve finally met Lolia S., the famous Fro-​yo Girl! In my excitement of standing there in front of a Unilocal icon I completely forgot the name of the other young lady. Sorry, it really was nice to meet you though!
For my yogurt freebie I dispensed two flavors, the pomegranate tart and the original tart. Both came out of its dispensers thick and slow just the way I like. I’m not used to the small cups though, and I filled it with too much yogurt so my toppings could not stay in place very well. I tried the plain mochi, the strawberry mochi, some fresh mango bits and some lychee jelly. I saw an empty seat away from the crowd and I walked over to grab it. Matt G had just arrived too. I said hey to him through the window, but I was too preoccupied with my fro-​yo.
The yogurt was delicious with the right texture and consistency. The pomegranate tart actually had pomegranate flavor. The mochi was soft and the jelly was actually crisp. I’d never had a jelly so fresh where it was crisp. My fro-​yo cup was fabulous.
On my way out Matt G introduced me to Patra B. Wow! Another potential Unilocal friend! Tuttimelon rocks! Thanks Fro-​yo Girl!

Tuttimelon is not only a self-​serve place, the business is now «dog-​friendly».
Well, not quite. However and under the request of the Fro-​yo girl, I did bring Joe Cool with me to the newest Tuttimelon’ s relocation grand-​opening. And with the huge line for the grand opening, this new Tuttimelon location was offering «all you can eat» frozen-​yogurt from 12pm –2pm. But first, you must spin the wheel to receive a smaller prize and receiving a raffle ticket to make yourself qualify for the drawing of one of the bigger prizes; the newest I-​phone and a Wii console system.
While waiting for the giveaway at 2pm, I chatted with some of my favorite Unilocalers and received a small bowl to sample and devoured all eight different and available flavors with each dispenser rating on the taste (Creaminess, Tartness and Sweetness) and recommended topping (s) for each flavors.
Despite being overly crowded with a YEE-​like atmosphere and a mixture of updated music, I managed to sampled all eight available flavors and they were all very good and exactly what the ratings stated. My favorites are the Nutty Taro and Tropical Mango Tart.
I didn’t get any topping for my fro-​yo, because I saw some hair-​particles in one of the toppings. It was within-​a-​reason a chaotic grand-​opening and many of the Tuttimelon’s employees tried their very best to do their duties.
I even shared my opinions on each fro-​yo flavors with the Unilocalers, including a mocking and joking remark on the Almond flavor. «Well it did tastes and smell like Vidal Sasson Shampoo!» (Not that I ever induced the hair-​care product).
The newest Tuttimelon self-​serve is $.35 an ounce and also serves Gelatos, Smoothies and Parfaits.
At 2:15pm, Roy (owner) and his Tuttimelon’s hench-​men did the raffle-​drawing for smaller and bigger prizes. And with a long-​shot chance, I just witnessed one of my favorite Unilocaler won the ultimate grand-​prize: The Wii.(Congrats!) I also came close a few times myself.
Once this new Tuttimelon’s location settled down and with or without the Fantastic-​4 and/​or Joe Cool, I’ll definitely make another future return.

On Sunday, I saw for a Unilocal even that my beloved Tutti is having their grand opening on Saturday. I quickly clicked «I’M IN» and wrote it down on my calendar.
Grand opening event consists of:
~FREE TUTTI FROM 12−2PM!!! Then after 2PM (with coupon) it is 25cents per ounce.
~First 50 get a gift. Didn’t get their on time, so I don’t know what it was.
~They also had raffle tickets to win a wii, itouch, & Tuttimelon giftcards. Didn’t win anything =[
Stayed in line for about half hour to get free froyo. Spin a wheel for size cup. Options were parfait cup, HUGE cup, regular cup, medium?, gelato, $ 5 giftcard with a regular cup…
I got sesame gelato which tasted like sesame paste dessert. It was good.

I like almond, pomegranate, taro, original… I would assume their mango, strawberry, & chocolate taste like NUBI and Planet Yogurt.
