It has been about three years since I was going there and I would agree with crista. s about the way staff are actually one staff the head of the place. she gave me a bad vibe everytime. anyways it taught me a valuable lesson that the trans community is only there for some. Don’t bother trying to contact me like you did with crista to make yourself look good cuz it’s not happening. I also had other people tell me this as well. I am doing just fine by myself it’s more support than you gave. I was also at the time at my lowest I was homeless depressed and wanted to die and trans. anyways it made me a lot stronger and wiser.

They are VERY condescending to the clients. A lot of infighting looking down on others. I will NEVER again darken their door…

I’ve volunteered there a couple of times, and am really impressed with the program’s ability to meet the needs of a wide range of clients. There are groups for men only and women only, as well as mixed ones. Also, they have individual counseling, as well as things like acupuncture and movie nights. I see a wide range of ages and situations there, too.

Confession: I volunteered here, so I am not exactly a detached observer. Trans Thrive is, in general, a good programme. Its staff are friendly, sociable and are willing to help Trans Thrive’s clients, no questions asked. There are a wide variety of programmes for different needs, and there are several services, including a youth programme, a computer lab and monthly special events. My only problem is that the place, although ostensibly for all transgender clients, is primarily geared towards trans women, and there are fewer programmes specifically for trans men. Trans guys are repeatedly misgendered, which is kind of screwed up.
