Business Owner
Galen Garretson is the founder and owner of Town Cutler, the Bay Area’s premier purveyor of fine knives, specialty blades, sharpeners, and sharpening services. A devoted chef and epicure at heart, Galen began his career at San Francisco’s Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy, where he graduated in 2003 and tenaciously advanced through the kitchens of some of the Bay Area’s most revered restaurants. Under the expert tutelage of acclaimed chefs such as Michael Tusk of Quince, the Rosenthal Brothers of Town Hall, and Tyler Florence of Wayfare Tavern. Galen honed his culinary skills with dishes such as Wayfare’s signature Gumbo, an eight hour undertaking with dozens of ingredients, and the daily butchering, processing, and cooking of lamb and suckling pig at Quince where he utilized each animal in its entirety for the restaurant’s impeccable French and Italian cuisine.
