I’ve very pleased with Barbara’s care, experience and compassion! I’ve seen her a few times, and she always takes the time to make sure I have a great massage! She recently remodeled her massage space and even though the lobby (which she has not control over) could use a little freshening up, her massage room is very clean and tranquil.
Her experience is very broad and can use several modalities, depending on what work needs to be done. I always leave there feeling relaxed and happier. Plus, she is a really nice person. I highly recommend!

I treated myself to a massage here at Touching Transformations via an online deal. If you are expecting a shi shi foo foo spa, you may raise an eyebrow. The setting is in an older SF apartment and the separate massage room is basic but clean and warm. The table itself is very comfy… isn’t that what matters? I remember seeing people getting massages on the sidewalk at bus stops in Bangkok. Open your mind and be appreciative of what healing you will receive. Barbara is undoubtedly extremely knowledgeable in massage therapy and body mechanics. She seriously paid such careful attention to balancing out some long held chronic structural issues I have. She spent much longer than the booked time. She also shared with me some info to keep the healing and corrections going. She’s caring, intelligent, professional, and really knows how to help and to heal. Truly awesome.

Touching Transformations is always my first stop upon arriving San Francisco on business or holiday. I have known Barbara many years now and only wish I could take her back to the east coast with me, to at least train people there with her magic fingers.

I had a great massage ! Barbara paid attention to my needs of tension. She spent plenty of time to make my massage very pleasurable! I would recommend Barbara to anyone. She spent extra time without asking to complete the total relaxation! Thanks Barbara ! Great skills and techniques !

Barbara is one of the best massage therapists around. She genuinely cares about the wellbeing and treatment of her clients and it shows. I went to see her in pretty bad shape, very tight muscles with plenty of knots, but I left her feeling brand new. My physical structure was in noticeably better shape, my mind and body were relaxed, the tension gone. She is very warm, friendly and receptive to cues. She was able to release pressure and trigger points in difficult areas that other therapist previously in the past had trouble releasing for me.
Bottom line. Barbara is a massage therapist who genuinely cares and it shines through with her therapeutic treatment. She often goes over in time and doesn’t mind doing so. There is no rushed feeling. She’s simply one of the best I’ve had. I even booked another appointment with her for the following week!
Ignore the negative nitpicking reviews, the negative reviewers never actually even received a massage from this amazing therapist so their rating hold zero weight.

Lady. Get over it. You have come back and changed your response every other day. Just take the review and make yourself and your business better.

Barbara is the best, she is an artist, I been going there many time and every time I feel like it is the best time .she is very generous and she gave me some balls to help me with my back, recently she had some problems with the booking software and a mean girl write a bad review about it but it wasn’t Barbara fault, Barbara is so nice and she knows what she is doing and she is first class healer

Went to see Barbara for the first time this afternoon and had an excellent massage.
Before I went I read all of the Unilocal reviews, the sum of which hold Barbara in praise. I thought, «No person could live up to these reviews,» and I was kind of glad that I went in with skepticism, because Barbara is outstanding, in my opinion. The best massage I’ve had now.
I’ve had more than a handful of massages, some of which were at high priced spas, which I do enjoy for the pampering experience, luxurious settings, and amenities. Barbara’s service is different, yet not a lesser experience.
Barbara doesn’t provide all of those extras. The setting is modest, but perfectly comfortable and adequate for the work. What she does provide is honest, thorough, highly skilled, and professional massage with a warm and caring attitude and the addition of possible exercise/​stretching/​fitness recommendations. That kind of service went above and beyond any prior experience I’ve had.
During the massage, be sure to express whatever needs or concerns you have, I’m sure she will be accommodating, if possible. She’s cool and easy to get along with.
Anyway, it’s not like she needs another great review, but just wanted to solidify the high rating for her, and give my two cents.

If you want a massage in someone’s dirty apartment, then this is for you. I’m not sure how this place is allowed to operate. I walked in and walked out.

I have seen Barbara twice and she had been consistently great both times; her massage technique has great range, from very deep into those stubborn knots to soothing and restorative when you want to relax and unwind. I have extremely tight knots in my upper back and shoulders and she was strong enough to provide a firm but natural massage to release the tension. Barbara also gives you helpful information about your body and how to improve or stretch the areas in need. I feel wonderful afterwards and if I could, I would make an appointment with her every week to release the stress built up from the week!

Barbara is one of the best massage therapists out there. If you are looking for a true healer, look no further. She is attractive, thoughtful, wise and kind. Her skillful techniques custom-​tailor to each person’s needs, and the authenticity is something cannot be learned from massage school or found in salons with over-​decorated storefront. Do not judge a book by its cover! I have only been to her three times for my lower back pain. She was able to reduce the pain by 70% after the first visit! She also gave me print-​outs exercises to do at home and work… And after another session, I knew I found a gem in SF. This is my first Unilocal review. My only wish is that her practice were closer to my ocean beach home. But for now, the 30 min drive is totally worth it!

Such a marvelous massage! Barbara really takes her time and does her best to ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed. I usually feel rushed during any massage that I get so the patience that Barbara has was a total new experience for me. I will definitely be going back!

Barbara’s amazing. I melt after a session. She also routinely goes long — if you didn’t think you could take a two hour massage, you were wrong.

I had a massage with Barbara this weekend and wanted to instantly write a review. I found the whole experience to be excellent. I have had several massages in the past but found Barbara’s technique to be quite unique — combining what appeared to me to be different aspects of Thai, Japanese and Swedish massage. Barbara’s background in acupuncture allowed her to focus on some key pressure points, which I thoroughly enjoyed and she applied the perfect level of pressure throughout.
The studio was easy to find, the music was good, the bed was comfortable and everything was very relaxing. Barbara was also kind enough to continue the massage a few minutes after our time was up, which showed to me that she was focusing on the massage itself rather than the clock.
I also found Barbara to be very warm and an excellent conversationalist, before and after the massage. She clearly has a passion for massage and healing, but is also well versed in literature, travel and politics and an all-​round engaging person.
An easy five out of five and without doubt one of the best massage experiences I have had. I’ll definitely be going again!

I am a Holistic Healer and have referred several of my clients to Barbara. All of them have been absolutely thrilled with her work. Barbara is a very experience therapist, does a thorough job and really cares about her clients. I highly recommend her.

Barbara is a magician.
Now, what’s a 22 year old in such dire need of a massage for, you might ask! I should be young! And spry! And carefree!
No. We got sum nasty knots up in dis back. Let’s just say I’m a tense person. And life is hard for a recent college grad in this $$$$ city.
Anyhow. The point is, Barbara went above and beyond for my 90 min massage. I got the Groupon deal never expecting how redonk awesome it would be. She asked me right off the bat what my history was, pain spots, and showed me some stretches. She used a variety of techniques with the perfect amount of pressure (checking in often to ask if it was too much — nice, when some massage therapists think you’re a human ball of playdough). She also went wayyyy over the 90 minute time at no extra charge. When I walked out, it was the first time I had been back-​pain free in over a year.
Oh! And Barbara is a genuinely awesome conversationalist — funny, awesome stories, and just a bit of sass. I loved it.
Will be back with my grandma-​back! Found a keeper — whoot!

I just moved to the city yesterday, and with all the stress I was in dire need of a massage. I found Barbara though a Groupon special. It isn’t a salon or spa set up, more like a rented room in a multi use building on Polk St., and Barbara seems like a free spirit woman.
The most important thing… the massage was amazing. She used techniques I’ve never experienced before, and I dozed off a few times. The best neck massage ever, also. She went over the time for no charge. It was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Nothing else mattered. 5 stars.

One star is to reflect the experience I had, not the massage.
It was a complicated process to book, confirm, find the location. When I finally arrived, there was no one there. She did call back to apologize as something had come up, but still… not a good experience at all.
