Specialties
My mission as a tutor is to focus on fundamentals and methods, to help aid students struggling with math and science. My attitude is patient, positive, and proactive. I use real-world examples where possible, to present difficult concepts in a way which is approachable and easy to understand.
By learning the fundamental concepts and methods for solving problems, my tutoring method enables deep understanding, and inspires great confidence, for students who before may have been intimidated by the material.
Some of the subjects I tutor:
Mathematics, including calculus, trigonometry, and algebra
Science, including Physics and Chemistry
Engineering
With a Master’s of Science in Engineering and Bachelor’s in Physics, I have extensive experience tutoring students in both high school and college, and have a great breadth of knowledge in all these fields.
History
Established in 2003.
I began personal tutoring in 2003, during my second year of college at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I began tutoring by helping college students with their algebra, trigonometry, and calculus courses. I found I have a passion and a gift for helping students understand math and science; I worked as a tutor for the rest of my college career (I graduated in 2006).
In 2004 I began working for Easterseals, an organization which helps children with disabilities; I tutored students with learning disabilities such as ADHD, OCD, and Tourette Syndrome.
I began graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2008, studying Mechanical Engineering. In addition to serving as a Teaching Assistant, I continued personal tutoring.
Since graduating in 2010, I have continued my tutoring services in math and science, now working primarily in San Francisco.

He graduated with Highest Honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2006, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics.
Tobias returned to school to pursue his Master’s degree at the University of California, at Berkeley, in 2008. He was attracted to Mechanical Engineering for its practical applications of the principles he learned in physics, and to UC Berkeley for its interdisciplinary sustainability program. Tobias Schultz completed work for his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in September 2010.
Tobias Schultz lives in San Francisco. Currently he works as a consultant in sustainable design, and a tutor for students in need of math and science education.
