I lived in two of the SF homes for about four months. The first one was relatively clean but there was almost constant using in the house and the house parent was ineffective at dealing with it even as everyone knew what was going on. Further, though there were serial relapses, the rules regarding these were enforced intermittently and differently depending on whether the person who relapsed had the money to pay for the additional«treatment» TLC offered. Finally, I found that despite requests, they did not keep the residents informed regarding the relapses, and even went so far to try and cover the relapses up. I moved to the second house after complaining about the first, and the second house was even worse. Though there was less relapsing in the second house, the conditions of the house were filthy. I was not told about the bed bug infestation of the house when I moved in, only discovering it after I’d moved. My roommate was an old creep, and even after complaining to the house manager, nothing was done. There was violence in the house, and the aggressor was not dealt with. The house manager was largely focused on maintaining his position and avoided any conflict he possibly could, acting in the most cowardly manner possible. Other people have had similar problems with TLC. The company is greedy and doesn’t really care about the sobriety or recovery of it’s clients. The cost for the space is exorbinant. In one room I stayed in, they were making $ 3600 for what would have rented for $ 1600. The space was shared by 4 people. In theory you’re paying this money for additional services, but the additional services were entirely lacking.

I truly believe that if it weren’t for the family-like place I called home for 7 months, I wouldn’t be sober, employed and happy today. The structure TLC provides is conducive to each resident’s recovery. I am sober now for over 28 months and very grateful for the foundation that TLC provided during my early sobriety, which is why I took the time to write this review.
I lived in this TLC home location for 7 months — from February 2012 to September 2012. In the time I lived there, I can honestly say that the house was kept clean and comfortable. We had 4 brand new refrigerators, nice household furniture and and in-home washer and dryer. For what I paid in monthly fees, I consider this sober living home a true value. I just read an unfavorable review about this TLC location… apparently the individual was a resident at this location before the TLC business was purchased and under management by the new owner. I don’t think it’s fair to write a review about a past experience — years past, about a business that is currently operating under new guidelines, therefore I felt compelled to share my experience regarding this TLC sober home under its current owner’s management.
