Tiny Warrior Coffee

Customer service was absolutely awful. We walked in at 11am and there were no other customers in the store. The staff sat in the display camping chairs and were chatting. We stood in front of the coffee counter for a few minutes and one person finally got up. The interactions with the barrista was even worse — she looked annoyed and upset. Maybe she didn’t have any coffee herself yet?
Coffee wise, nothing special. There are way too many better options in the city, especially the Mission.
The coffee shop has a cute set up, located in a camp shop. That’s prolly the only positive thing about it.

Really cute spot for coffee, it was a bit hard to find as it was located inside a camping store and there was also some kind of waffle station in front as well. My friend got the Moroccan and I got the nico. The Moroccan tasted like a dirty chai, and my Nico just tasted like regular iced coffee, not sure if the barista forgot to put in the flavoring because I couldn’t taste any orange or vanilla.

Adorable little place with maybe the friendliest owner in the city. I spent half an hour with him in the little parklet out front early on a Sunday morning, sipping drip coffee out of Tiny Warrior mugs (I bought one) and talking about life. The coffee shop is off to the side in a carefully curated novelty/​outdoor supply/​curiosity shop. Great place to browse and relax.

Their entrance is a bike shop? Camping shop? Outdoors shop? Hm! This will be fun!
I love their color scheme and their logo. I feel like it’s really fun and inviting. That day was an extremely hot day so I was happy to be able to browse inside this amazing store. But first, coffee! I ordered the Vietnamese coffee with almond milk (unfortunately dairy is a no-​no for me). The coffee actually took a while for my barista to make, I don’t remember why, but I didn’t mind because I was able to walk around and be inspired to go camping!
Once the drink came, I was happy that they used coffee ice cubes so my coffee wouldn’t be too diluted. I felt like the coffee was sweet but not too sweet for my taste. I’m pretty sure that the coffee would’ve been a lot stronger if I used regular milk or cream, but I am thankful that I did not get a stomachache from this drink! I was also jittery for the rest of the day! YAY!
I definitely have plans on coming back to try different drinks on their amazing menu!

I’m now in love with this coffeeshop. IT’S SO FREAKING CUTE! There is a small front counter where you can order beverages and snacks, but the real treat is walking through the rest of the building where they sell (and rent) equipment for outdoor activities. Find cool gadgets for camping or hiking… good for gifts. I even bought a mini bike repair kit for my boyfriend randomly. This place inspired me. My friend and I spent hours just looking around (okay the place is not THAT big but we were endlessly fascinated) and I was captivated by the minimalistic prints in the back of the building made by Western Editions.
FINALLY we decided to grab coffee. The Vietnamese Coffee was pretty good. Everything on the menu just sounded so unique, especially the chocolate ice cubs. I like that there is a limited number of options to choose from. I’m definitely coming back here to cross everything off that menu! We sat outside on the colorful furniture and admired the cute tiny warrior on the sign, thinking how much cooler it would be if they sold figurines of them. The closest thing you will achieve is the Tiny Warrior Coffee mug.

Iced mocha was really yummy but crazy overpriced at $ 5 for a normal-​size cup (which wasn’t even filled all the way to the top), and I don’t like that they have no normal milk — just almond milk and half & half.

The Tiny Warrior Experience
Walk into a nice room. The wall space is occupied by Bike Life, Camping/​Nature Life and Dog Life (ok, so I’m making up names.) It’s all very artistic, and a bit confusing. Do they share space? Not sure. All six or so people inside turned and stared when I walked in. Was this a private art opening? Was I in the wrong place? Did I just interrupt a hipster drug deal?
Super uncomfortable, I walked to the counter and ordered the Mexican chocolate mocha drink which is the reason I was there (I love Mexican chocolate.) The ‘milk’ choices were either half and half or almond milk. Huh? No regular milk? Ok, I chose almond, cuz that would go with the Mexican chocolate coffee drink Experience, right?
Paid my 5 dollars (!) and then went to go outside rather than stand around posing uncomfortably because there is no zip nada seating inside. There are 2 small tables outside. I got lucky and snagged one. I drank my Mexican chocolate coffee drink.
And how was it? Well I sat there trying to figure exactly how much per ounce my drink cost, and what I paid for each sip. After 3 sips I threw it away. Why 3 sips when I knew I didn’t like it after one? Leftover teenage trauma. My mom used to insist we go on 3 dates with horrible non-​starter boys before saying Adiós. She maintained you needed to give everyone three chances no matter what. We termed this idiocy The Rule of Three. It was a misguided corollary to The Golden Rule. After some tragicomedic experiences we learned to never ever allow our parents any insider knowledge of our love lives, thus ending any kind of enforcement of The Rule of Three.
So goodbye potential relationship with Mexican chocolate coffee drink and Tiny Warrior Experience. I will not be visiting you three times because my mother is not here, and besides I sipped from your bitter, watery, probably eco-​friendly cup three times so I feel as though I have sort of satisfied The Rule of Three.
Adiós.

I had a pour over here the other morning that was AMAZING! I would say one of the best I’ve had in my life.
It was A Brazilian from an East Coast roaster, as they serve drip from all over the US. I love that more coffee shops are doing this. (another shop that comes to mind that is a ‘multi roaster’ is Red Berry in Los Altos. a cool little spot for espresso from all over)
Little Worrier has a very simple menu in that they just do iced coffee and pour overs — no espresso machine. But that drip… man! I’m still thinking about it. :)
Bottom Line: Stop by if you get a chance! And get ready for delicious!

Random very good coffee shop in an outdoor goods store. I had the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, with the muddled mint. Normally I don’t like sweet coffee but I’d heard good things… and yes it was all that. Not too sugary, with nice layers of flavoring. Loved the «burnt caramel syrup» flavor and the muddled mint made it extra refreshing. If the weather isn’t nice there is no place to sit and drink your coffee, but if it’s nice they have chairs outside.

Tiny Warrior is hands-​down the best coffee outpost in town. It’s hidden inside an outdoor gear shop in the Mission, but the coffee is so good that I make the trek from Pac Heights on weekends to get my caffeine kick.
They carry a curated selection of coffee from various producers. I highly recommend getting a pour over. Crema (which was selected as the 2014 Cup of Excellence) is my favorite, and Panther Brasil is a very close second. Both are listed on the pour over menu ($ 4/​serving).
The baristas are knowledgeable and true coffee connoisseurs. When in doubt, ask them for a recommendation. You can’t get a bad cup of joe from there.

I was intrigued by the fact that a non-​Asian coffee shop was most well-​known for their iced Viet coffee.
Viet iced coffee w/​almond milk ($ 5) — The coffee itself was good, but it was not what i was looking for. Viet coffee is supposed to be strong and sweet but their version is bitter and honestly just tasted like strong iced coffee. It’s also very much on the pricey side although the cup is pretty big.
One sip got me wondering if the Unilocalers who think so highly of the Viet iced coffee have actually had the real stuff before…

Located inside boutique outdoor shop which has some great sustainable camping gear. The coffee shop doesn’t have much seating just couple of tables outside but very cute. No espresso though.

Tiny Warrior Coffee is a great little spot! The barista here is so talented, and he makes every iced coffee like it’s a specialized cocktail. The coffee here is strong and the cup is large, so expect to leave very caffeinated.
The first time I came here, I ordered the vietnamese coffee (has a hint of orange) with chocolate ice cubes, definitely a decadent treat. The chocolate ice cubes are essentially rich fudgesicles that melt into the coffee while you drink it. I would recommend getting the chocolate ice cubes in plain iced coffee, as the combination is really good but too sweet.
I came here again today and ordered a plain iced coffee, which is still very strong. I prefer the plain iced coffee here because I think the flavored ones have too much sugar. I’m used to black coffee, so others might find the coffee just sweet enough. I also ordered one of the paleo protein muffins (Cha Cha Cha — chocolate, almonds, coconut, chia seeds, some other things) which was pretty good! I don’t eat paleo muffins normally so I have nothing to compare it to. It was also a bit sweet for my taste.
Why 4 stars? I think this coffee shop is fantastic and unique, but I came here once at 10am and they were already out of iced coffee. Also, spending $ 7 on iced coffee is a bit much.

Ack, another 3.5 review. I was really torn on giving Tiny Warrior a below 4-​star review because I think the space is really adorable and the baristas really friendly.
My slightly lower review is really only for the Vietnamese coffee which I thought was fairly average. My Asian girl self squee-​d after spotting Tiny Warrior on Unilocal in its adorable glory and bookmarked it to check it out. The Outpost is a really cute Mission opening with camping gear and other outdoorsy stuff, and Tiny Warrior is a fun concept with cocktail mixers for precision coffee creations.
So why the lower review? I got the Vietnamese iced coffee, which I normally adore, with the tasty-​sounding burnt caramel and was sadly disappointed! I didn’t taste any of the burnt caramel and the Vietnamese coffee seemed muddled and kind of… thick in a chunky way. I do tend towards sweeter coffees so maybe that’s why I wasn’t the biggest fan? Either way, I might have to give it another shot, but I’ve had much better coffee elsewhere.

Excellent coffee, excellent staff, excellent vibes. Such a nice little coffee shop tucked away by the mission. I got the nico drink and it is by far my favorite. I’ve tried the Vietnamese and that drink itself will have you wired and ready to take on the mission Or mission st. Whatever your challenge may be lol.
The café is combined with an outdoors rec shop so you can sip your coffee and then get so wired that you wanna climb a mountain and take on everest. What better place to get your inspiration and motivation while getting your equipment in one «shot»
They have dog accessories too! So your buddy can tag along and find some cool stuff. And treats for your pup to.
The cleanliness and overall look to the store is easy on the eyes but also intriguing enough to catch your attention.

Eep I feel bad not giving this five stars, but I really didn’t love this place that much. After seeing the raving Unilocal reviews, I knew I needed to give this place a try. I got the Vietnamese coffee and the chocolate ice cube. Yes! They have chocolate ice cubes! It’s basically just a giant fudgesicle which is how they described it to me made out of TCHO chocolate. My 4-​star experience could have been because I didn’t pair it right – upon further contemplation after I got my drink, I realized that I probably could have gotten one of their coffee options that complemented the chocolate better.
Anyways, the Vietnamese coffee was fine, and perhaps it’s just because my taste buds aren’t that refined, but I always recall the Vietnamese coffee that I’ve had to be on the sweeter side. This was definitely not so. It was pretty bitter and just tasted like any other ice coffee… I mean iced coffees are also tricky because you can’t really taste the flavor as strongly as you can in a warm coffee.
But okay in summary, the coffee is pretty good I guess – my fourth star is really because I liked the design and how cool this place is. They also just have some generally cool flavor concepts and the TCHO chocolate ice cube is definitely something I’ve never seen before, so yay props for creativity. It is expensive af though My drink was $ 7 which is pretty ridiculous.
tldr; okay coffee, but am not sold that it’s as good as the Unilocal reviews make it out to be

I’m one of those people who drinks ice coffee on the coldest day of the year. I understand what caffeine is supposed to do, but hot coffee just makes me sleepy. I’m a huge fan of Philz estatic ice coffee (or mint mojito), blue bottle’s NOLA ice coffee, and Jittery John’s Cold Brew. I hardly ever branch out to try new things but when I read about a place that has amazingly clever ice coffee options made with 4 barrel I had to give it a shot.
The vietnamese coffee was a delight. I enjoyed the Moroccan (cardamom, clove syrup, and cinnamon) and seeing as how they have muddled mint as an add-​on, I will definitely be back.

I have had this place bookmarked since it opened recently to try it out and working in SOMA, its kinda hard. However, today I went casue my day just started off crazy and I’m like whatever. FINALLY yay — it was delish and the guy that was working was super nice. Basically I have been trying to recreate this mint iced coffee that I had at Almondhaus in Socal a few weeks back and today it was a success.
The guy that was making the coffee this AM was super nice and patient in explaining how they make their coffee. He totally got my desire for unsweetened coffee too. I got the house iced coffee which black is also very flavorful and they had organic almond milk which I added. The muddled mint which is $ 1 extra is worth it. It’s fresh and they do a nice job of mashing it up and mixing it in your coffee. I know its like coffee but some places just don’t taste right. This was pretty close to Almondhaus. I will def be back
The shop itself is very neat and organized and its actually located inside a all SF made bag store thus no real seating which is too bad. Parking was pretty easy this AM too but again it was like 10AM on a Tuesday and not the usual weekend bustle. Also their logo is mad cute.

That Vietnamese iced coffee is the TRUTH. I was extremely wired after only drinking half! If you want STRONG, quality coffee sans snobbery, Tiny Warrior is the place to be.
This place is indeed, tiny (The little Tiny Warrior mascot guy is so cute!). There’s 2 or 3 small tables outside which are great for people watching on sunny days.
I dropped in on a rainy day and the bottom of my paper shopping bag had started to tear. They offered to tape it up for me because they didn’t want me to have a crap day. So sweet! Thankfully I didn’t have very much further to walk, but I thought that was awfully nice of them.

TIny Warrior Coffee isn’t easy to spot on a drive-​by. no big signs. just a poster on a window fram. they occupy just a counter in an «0ultet» store (hiking clothes, accessories).
