totally slimy operation! the older woman who is the owner/proprietor cheated me. I was about to buy a hat for a friend’s baby. The price tag indicated $ 18, with 50% off. When i went to pay, she charged me 12. She said the hat is $ 25. I asked to look again. She then charged me 10.25% on the purchase. Um… SF sales tax is high enough, but it certainly did NOT go above 10% YET. I told her she’s confused with perhaps somewhere else, and she insists it’s 10.25%. hmmm… wonder where she’s pocketing the difference?! SLIMY!!! the things in her store really aren’t unique enough for me to shop there… and SO $$$ for marginal quality.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 12 years and will frequent this little store for gifts for friends. While the store manager is an older woman(who is somewhat reserved), it is locally owned and has unique and typically beautiful things(with good sales too:) As long as you are happy being a little self sufficient in your shopping, this is a wonderful place to find high quality items.

In my lunchtime browse I dropped in here. I wasn’t greeted by anyone other than the dog, who barked at me and tried to run out the door to freedom. After moseying around I saw quite a few well priced cute children’s items, clothing, stuffed animals, hair circlets, books and clocks. A 3.00 fluffy flamingo pen beckoned me, but truthfully, where would I use it? I’d send people who have children here, but tell them not to bring them with because the place holds too many«tiny cute things» and they’d end up spending hundreds. Upon leaving I asked for a business card. The older woman in the store replied, after I repeated myself twice, that they had no use for them. Hmm.

I had some time to kill on Union Street, and went in to this shop with my 1-year old daughter. I made my way around the store checking out the merchandise, not a word from the older woman behind the counter in this VERY small shop(and I don’t need to be acknowledged, although most retail sales people make it a practice to acknowledge a customer). On my way out past the counter and the older woman, I looked directly at her and said, «Thank you.» She turned her back to me with a huffy annoyed look. Not a word from her. I proceeded to say«Goodbye» and still got no response, except the cold shoulder. Strange way to treat potentially new customers with young children in a children’s shop… Most rude service I’ve encountered in a long time. Won’t be back and will be recommending people do not patronize. Hope that wasn’t the owner.
