The UPS Store

I went here to mail something with a prepaid label. It cost me 11 dollars to ship. Why? They charged me $ 5 for the box, 1.50 for packing material (neither of which was available in the lobby for me to wrap it myself) and most galling of all, $ 4 for the labor to wrap it all up.
Are you kidding me? 11 $ IN ADDITION to the label? 4 $ for labor of packing? These prices are ridiculous. $ 4 for literally 10 seconds of work? Shit, my wife’s a doctor and she doesn’t get paid that much.

Asian Fred Armisen is only about as helpful as one of actual Fred Armisen’s characters from Portlandia.

I used to wonder why this store gets such bad reviews… now I know.
I had to return some RH chairs, and they told me to take it to any UPS store to handle the shipping. When I took it to this store, the guy there was incompetent and unhelpful. He complained that I took these big heavy chairs to the store at the end of the day. By the way, I took the chairs in 45 minutes before closing. Then, he said that he can’t give me a shipping label for each piece, that he could only provide one label per order using RH’s account and we would have to pay for the rest of the labels. Then he tried to call customer support and hung up after 2 seconds claiming they didn’t pick up. I just don’t think he wanted to deal with packing and shipping of four items, even though that is basically the point of a UPS store.
I took the chairs to the Sloat store and they took care of everything for me in under 10 minutes.
Do yourself a favor and only come here if you’re dropping off prepaid packages, and always get a receipt. I wouldn’t trust them to do any more than that.

Everyone here is friendly and helpful, especially Arnie. Sometimes they get busy, that is when each of us can practice patience and hum a song — it’s good for our brains!

I really can’t say anything bad about this store. I bought a mouse on Amazon that stopped working and walked in with the box to send it back. The woman that helped me was nothing but friendly and helpful and helped me repackage it to be sent back. I’ve seen bad reviews for the store but for my visit they were great

They never have a notary when you need one. Don’t bother going here if you’re looking for a notary. better to get a mobile notary or use an app to ship your stuff like shyp.

As a business owner who lives in the neighborhood, I used to frequent this business quite frequently. As the years passed and more and more business is done online, I stopped coming here as often.
The last few times that I have gone to this location, it has been a very bad experience. First, the copier stops working if you take more than a few seconds between copies, so you have to ask the workers to reset the machine if you want to make multiple copies. Second, they only have one black and white copier. If someone is already using the copier, then you have to wait as long as it takes until he/​she is done because the other copier is for color copies. Third, the people who work there are rude. They aren’t helpful or courteous. They keep everything (stapler removers, pens, stapler, etc.) behind the counter, and they are annoyed when you ask to borrow something.
If you need a notary, be sure to check to double check to see if she will actually be there. I have called a few times and told the notary was there only to arrive and find out the notary is not there.
They also nickel and dime you for every little thing. I was sending a package back to Amazon, and I requested a little extra tape to make sure the package stayed closed. $ 1. I have gone to other UPS stores and Kinko’s and received assistance for free.
Do yourself a favor, go to another UPS store or drive to Kinko’s at Sloat.

The older Asian lady, who I presume is the owner of this store, is extremely rude. I came in to quickly print out copies from a USB. Without offering for assistance, I went ahead and began printing using 1 out of the 2 copy machines that worked. After I had already printed out my stuff, she ran towards me telling me, «this is not allowed.» She seemed very incompetent with working the machine. Then she took my USB and went to the back of the store only to find out that I did exactly what was supposed to be done. She also kept rushing me, telling me that the store was closing when in actuality, it closed in another hour. She could of handled the situation in a proper and professional manner.
Note to Self: buy my own ink and use my own printer. Never step foot into this store again.

On my first day in San Francisco I walked here from my house to get an item notarized. I was told that the woman would be here in at noon (it was 11:50) so I waited. I waited until 12:30 and then asked where she was and was told she was on her way. I ask at 1pm and am told she is not coming. It is my first day in the city so I decided to walk here and will now have to walk back to my house and grab my car to go to a different business that notarizes because I might never use a ups store again. This is outargous. I was literally standing in front if them in this store for an hour to be told that one of there worked just didn’t want to come in today.

Don’t have packages transferred to this site. The UPS access sites are private and can refuse delivery of the package if the store is «full», without notice to the customer, thus causing a «lost» package or «refused delivery» package on your UPS MyChoice option.
When calling this store today to see where the package was located, I was instructed to call UPS. I asked «aren’t you UPS?» Was informed by the REAL UPS that this is common practice. Poor customer service and lack of communication.

The clerks here were completely incompetent. I asked them to print a shipping label for me and they told me that they didn’t have access to printing labels and that I must separately call UPS to figure it out. Usually when I go to any other UPS Store, the clerks have always packed my packages for me, here I had to pack it myself, including the plastic label thing.

Just had yet another miserable experience at this center. I think they go out of their way to be rude. The only reason I use it is the convenience but even that isn’t worth it anymore.

First off, I’m deducting a star only because this is a UPS store and UPS charges up the behind for shipping services. There’s a reason why they only cater to large businesses or sometimes it’ll be a bit cheaper than USPS when the item weighs too much.
With that out of the way, let’s discuss this particular branch.
Like some other reviewers here, I only drop off items here when I need to do online returns or when one of my buyers on ebay decides they need an item shipped via UPS by request with next day service. Each time, they were able to process my request in under a minute and seemed friendly enough.
It’s a shipping center so don’t expect these guys to polish your shoes by any means. Transactions are simple, just print out your label from home, stick it on your package, come here, have them scan it and give you a receipt. It’s the exact same process from USPS, plus, you get a discount when creating your label online anyways.
Just glad these guys don’t charge me for dropping off my package unlike that other «authorized» UPS store on Judah between 31^st and 32^nd. They tried to charge me for shipping out a package that I had already prepaid for! If they’re an authorized store, I don’t see the need to charge me anything for a prepaid package.
So to conclude, this place gets 4 stars for having friendly staff with available metered parking in front of their store, and being in my neighborhood.

International mail package was quoted here $ 200+ as compared to $ 24 at USPS, which reached my recipient within a week.
I only came here if I absolutely had to, and I must make sure to leave as soon as possible!

This store (like most UPS Stores) has the worst customer service. «Gil» was having an issue with his computer and announced that air deliveries would not make it on the truck. There was a line of about 5 people and I asked if they could process air quickly since I had been waiting 20 minutes to send checks to clients overnight. Gil rudely complained about his computer being down for two days to a store full of customers. Had Gil mentioned that the air deliveries would not go out even 5 minutes earlier, I could have gone to the Post Office a block away.
The UPS drivers who were waiting for the air packages apologized for his rudeness, but I will never return to this place to give UPS my business. The drivers tried to help me find a location that would still overnight (notice that GIl offered nothing but continued whining about his computer problems), but the latest time to ship is 5:40 pm from the 17^th and Utah location — I’d never have made it.
I send overnight packages every few days for business; I’ll be much happier giving my cash to the Post Office instead.
UPS, you need to fix the service problem at your UPS stores: they charge more and the service is unacceptably poor. And fire Gil — your computer problems are not my problem! My business depends on UPS handling their business and they do not.
Please do not go to this store and maybe a FedEx will open in its place.

I’ve been going here for random copy and shipping needs for a while, and never had a negative experience. Not sure what the negative reviews are about — they’ve been friendly and helpful, careful to do a good job, and give personal attention if you need help.

I use this place because it’s close. The owners are rude and annoying. Very unfriendly Last time they questioned a package because it rattled I told him it had loose chocolate bars but he just kept shaking it and shaking it saying it shouldn’t rattle. I don’t think this was appropriate inquiry

BE CAREFUL!!! These guys, the store manager specifically — middle age asian guy, are EXTREMELY scuzzy!
I went here to ship a package and the price I was told seemed far higher than the what a box of that size typically cost to ship from my normal USP store. After several minutes of haggling with the manager for an explanation I found out that they had «over estimated» the boxes actual dimensions. Not by just and inch or two in all directions but buy multiple inches in all directions. When I pointed out that this was wrong the manager rekeyed the accurate dimensions. The exaggeration was so extreme that the difference in price was nearly double what it should have been!
The managers response was «This is how we ship all of our packages and no one has ever questioned me about this before». I can only imagine how many tens of thousands of dollars this USP store has stolen from innocent people. If you choose to use this store I highly recommend that you verify the dimensions of the box they are charging you to ship.

Regular customers, those of specific ethnicity, or age, are preferred customers here. They do not need to wait in line for service.
If you are a jerk, simply walk up the side counter, OR just get in front of everyone standing in line.
You will be assisted with courtesy by their staff.
I live in the neighborhood, used this store for a number of years, and have witnessed this type of behavior for the last time.
I’ll pay the UPS pick-​up fee. This place is worthless.
Note: receipts for UPS online pre-​printed labels are not available here, it’s a crapshoot if you items are shipped.

No issues here, just dropping off an Amazon return, so the label was already printed. They asked if I needed a receipt, and I said no. They have coloured copying, black and white copying and a bunch of other services.
Again, no issues, just two guys behind the counter helping people out. Didn’t get extraordinary service, but it wasn’t like they were insulting me or doing anything ridiculous like the other reviews have said.
