History

Established in 2012.

The Station SF is a café and eatery featuring the freshest seasonal menu and locally roasted Blue Bottle Coffee. In an effort to showcase up and coming SF brands we have featured a revolving retail Pop-​Up concept as well. Currently our «Grab and Go» is our featured attraction. Allowing busy clients to select great food made fresh daily and self check out. No waiting in lines!

I got a latte. Was good but not amazing. And way to overpriced for the tiny size they give you. Almost 5 dollars for a small is not worth it. Was nice to try a new place but I won’t be going back.

Food was very disappointing. The quinoa salad was extremely overdressed and the iced tea tasted like Lipton’s, but with a San Francisco price tag. I had high hopes for this place (good location, Heath Ceramics), however presentation was meh, coffee so-​so and staff meh.

Totally inept. 330 on a Friday and no coffee… Girl with nose ring upon inquiry «looks like no coffee» then same girl cannot operate grinder. Many people waiting… Sad. Smells good but coffee service subpar.

I liked my latte a lot, very pretty and in their big mug! Enjoyed the avocado toast with tomato & hummus breakfast. Also tried the detox juice and loved it. The location is central and it does get busy but for the most part they’re pretty good!

Stopped in here for lunch on a rainy day after walking the embarcadero with my dog. The pesto chicken wrap was excellent. I’m definitely not a coffee fanatic but I enjoyed the cup they served me. Not sure why they have a no laptop/​wifi policy on tables by the windows but it’s more fun to people watch than stare at a device anyway. It was pretty quiet in there that day so I can see how people would want to hang out and study, read, or work.

Mediocre latte, too much milk and not enough expresso. Another note, overpriced! Blue bottle stays my favorite in the city. lots of tables but no laptop allowed? What? What’s the point of a café?

Coming from Portland, I have had a wide range of coffee shop experiences. On the surface, the Station appears to be a serious coffee operation, but sadly, my americano tasted like dirt. My friend was expecting a dark roast pour-​over coffee, which ended up being light and watery. The customer service wasn’t very good either. The staff was aloof and acted like they would rather not be there.
Then next morning, we tried coffee across the street at Brioche Bakery — it was a million times better than the Station.

Tried a few coffee drinks here. Cold brew was a bit too intense for me, but latte, mocha and cappuccino were pretty decent. Nice for sit down or takeout. Some tables were marked no laptop, with limited free wifi hours. Rarely got too crowded when I visited.

12 minutes waiting for my latte, I waited until EVERYBODY after me got their coffee. Really don’t understand how they prioritize their work. And the coffee cake was as small and fragile as possible, it went into pieces after they drop it to the paper bag for me to carry. And it was not tasty either.
I paid $ 8 for the coffee and small cake and it is only fair that I expect something better

Overall, this place is a great choice for anyone looking for tasty, good-​for-​you food.
I ordered the vegetarian toast. It was DELICIOUS!
I also order a hard boiled egg (for protein) and I was difficult to break. Most of the egg whites came off with the shell.
What I loved even more was the cold pressed juice options. I have the chocolate protein (delicious!) and packed with protein. Great for vegan goodness, post-​workout.
Overall, I’d come back here again.

The arugula salad and potatoes that came with my frittata was so ridiculously salty, I thought maybe my meal was a joke
There’s no outlets
Many tables have signs that say «no laptops». 1) it’s a coffee shop 2) we are patrons
Prices are absurd for the quality
I live in north beach and this place has been on my list for so long. Quite unfortunate.

3* for the coffee and 3 ½* for the ambience.
This place seems to be the run-​of-​the-​mill coffee shop. There are just so many good shops in this area, that the only reason why I would come here is bc of convenience. Their coffee was okay, but nothing fancy. I also tried their «veggies and toast» w/​apple-​wood bacon, which was delish! The portion was a little bit small, but I’m guessing most people come here for the coffee and work environment. I’d give this place another shot though. It seems to have a good rep in the area.

Nola Cold was good. A bit too tangy for New Orleans style, but it tastes better than regular iced coffee. Designated no Wifi and computer tables which is off putting because there are people on their phones in the «wifi zones» where I could be using my laptop. Not only designated wifi times, they also block off all the outlets. Its one thing to have a time limit on outlets and table use (creates more business flow) but my kindle was dying and I wanted to catch up on some reading. Overall could be a good place to grab and go. If you are trying to find a nice chill spot to relax and get work done I would suggest going elsewhere.

I did like the coffee although didn’t think it was anything extraordinary. I also tried one of the pastrami type sandwiches they had on display and that was quite good.
The seating inside was plenty but the décor was a bit drab. In addition, the day I went, it was so hot inside we could only sit outside on the sidewalk tables, but it was completely unshaded.

Pros:
+The fact they serve blue bottle coffee drew me in.
+Staff was very friendly and fast
Cons:
–They shut down the WiFi from 11am to 1:30pm for lunch purposes
–No electrical outlets for customers to use makes this very unwelcoming if you were planning on getting work done.
They literally seal off the electrical outlets with a screw and metal plate. If there is a next time, I know to bring a screw driver set with me.

I tried the Station for the first time on a Sunday morning and loved it! It’s definitely a new go-​to spot for coffee or a quick brunch. They offer Blue Bottle coffee and yummy almond milk (my fave!) for a dollar extra. I tried the yogurt and granola which made a great snack. Since many of the tables are marked off for no laptops, finding a table is easy if you’re just grabbing food or drinks but slightly less suitable for working.

The Station keeps on growing on me. Since I’m not a huge fan of Blue Bottle (which they brew) I’ve long ignored this cozy yet bright spot in North Beach. However, I’ve been frequenting this spot more and more often (and quite ignoring its neighborhood rival Reveille) for their amazing cold brew! It’s mellow and lovely and goes so well with a splash of milk and their great organic simple syrup. Don’t you hate it when simple syrup is watery and not sweet enough so you have to keep adding more to your coffee? No? Just me? Well no such problems at The Station!
I also have to mention just how incredibly nice the baristas are here. I’ve found that at most third-​wave cafes in SF they can be a little rude or cold but they go out of their way here to greet you and remember your order for next time. Extra kudos for that. They also have a nice rotation of breakfast items and lunches if you work in the area.

I really like this place.
Ive come here maybe 6+ times total — mostly because when my (now) wife and I were preparing to get married, we would go to the North Beach area and she would go off to Novella Bridal. The only thing was, I wasn’t allowed to see the dress beforehand, which left me with 2 hours to kill every time, so every time, I just dropped into The Station. But seriously, I have accompanied her into Novella Bridal before, and I swear it’s like showing up uninvited to an episode of «Say Yes to the Dress». I’ll stick with The Station.
The NOLA iced coffee is awesome. It’s seriously the best iced coffee I have ever had, and I get it every time I come here. It’s got the perfect amount of chicory in it. The only downside is that every time I order a sandwich, it takes quite a while for it to come. No big deal, but just be prepared to wait a little bit.
Everyone behind the counter has always been very nice and courteous.

I’m so glad that I decided to stop in here shortly before I left SF: the Station knows how to do coffee.
Easy-​drinking lattes and a great hot and cold food selection. The croissant sandwich was delicious but definitely a fork and knife affair.
One thing I wish I had the opportunity to try was their NOLA iced coffee. Kudos to whomever wrote the menu description because they had me sold.
Admittedly, the service was a bit slow but the friendliness of the staff won me over. And good things come for those who wait.
