The San Francisco Chocolate Factory is one of SF’s favorite spots to visit, whether you’re a local or an out-​of-​towner. Easily recognizable by the chocolate factory mural on the side of our building, located near the corner of Folsom and 12th Street. Although there is no actual factory on site for tours, our Retail Boutique features our many brands of gourmet white, milk and dark chocolate… as well as special treats, including exotic chocolate truffles, espresso and sea salt caramels and our new Milk Lover’s flavored straws.

Our Wine Lover’s, Coffee Lover’s and Tea Lover’s Chocolate brands are perfectly paired with wine varietals, coffee types and tea selections from around the world.

And our newest brands are already proving to be big hits: Animal Lover’s Chocolate and Car Lover’s Chocolate.

So there’s something for everyone… and our innovative and award-​winning packaging make for Ideal Gift Items and Souvenir Keepsakes.

And even though most chocolatiers have introduced price hikes in 2014, we remain at 2013 prices!

Since debuting in 1999, our chocolates have become a favorite with San Francisco locals and visitors alike. Our business is rapidly expanding beyond the shores of the Bay Area, thanks to the many visitors who brought our beautiful chocolate tins home as souvenirs… the chocolates are so delicious, people contact us desperate to order more!

This place is amazing and the guy who served me was so lovely and helpful. He even helped me with directions to my next location. The tins that the chocolates are packaged in are so cool, a great souvenir of San Fran to take home. Definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a choci fix :-)

Had a wonderful experience here. I tried many different samples of chocolate. The person on staff was very nice (sorry I forgot your name). He was helpful and very polite. I will be back if ever I’m in the area. Try the Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt Carmel Bar, it’s to die for. They don’t actually make this bar, but the company that does uses the cacao from The Chocolate Factory

I’m glad I decided to step into this quaint, little chocolate shop after lunch. The gentleman behind the desk was very friendly and solicitous to describe the chocolates and find the flavors my palette fancied– the darkest and spiciest chocolate out there! As others mentioned, there are a nice variety of chocolates in here– many which will go well with wine (sea salt chocolate!) or simply to satiate your sweet tooth. They have novelty tin can packaging– perfect for San Francisco souvenirs, or you can get more chocolate without the fancy tin. Either way, the pricing is great for the quality chocolates offered here. Stop in if you’re in the area for some gourmet chocolates at reasonable prices!

This store is stocked with yummy samples. Its worth every penny to get exactly what you’re looking for. The guy that works here knows every product and you couldn’t ask for someone nicer. I found these apple-​caramel balls that I cant stop thinking about. A few wks back, I bought the car tins. The fun was all in matching the car with the dude. When you buy something here, you can be certain of it’s freshness & quality. The little items go a long way and either makes for terrific gifting or satisfies
your sugar fix. My husband & 4 yr old loves the D.C. wheel I got them. They refill the little car tins I gave them when they are on the go. Parking is pretty easy around the area.

Tip: Order ahead for the truffles.

Cutest and most random chocolate shop! We were in town for a training and had walked around to grab lunch and on the way back we saw this cute little chocolate shop. Amazing chocolate and the gentleman that was working was so friendly and welcoming. They had a variety of chocolate drops to try and it was encouraged by the shop worker/​owner. Amazing little tin of milk chocolate drops. The best milk chocolate I have had! I should have bought more!!! Great find! I’m sure to those that live in the area this place isn’t a secret but what a great place to find! Highlight of the trip!

The person working did seem a little uninterested in explaining the chocolates though.
This is a greR place to come for gifts for people from our of town, birthdays & V Day!

San Francisco Chocolate Factory is a great place because they do one thing really well; they make delicious chocolate. Considering that these chocolates are a bit of a luxury item, they’re fairly well priced; yummy goodness starts at just 99cents. the little milk chocolate drops are SOOOOO GOOD! The SF Chocolate Factory is a hard-​to-​find treat due to all the one-​way streets in SOMA, but well worth the trek to find. Real quality chocolates in perfect bite-​size pieces.

I made 2 trips to the factory and both times Brian was amazing! He helped me pick out bulk chocolate for my wedding table gifts and had wonderful ideas. LOVE this place! He also reminded me about needing the paper to wrap the chocolates that is food grade quality-​something I would totally have missed! And the taste testing is another treat…

Looking for chocolates for wine pairing purposes? The SF Chocolate Factory is the place! I’ve always purchased their chocolate discs for various types of wines from other retailers, but it was great to be able to go into the shop and check out the entire collection.
If wine isn’t your thing, no worries — they have many other varieties of chocolates. If unique packaging is your thing, then this is also the place! The tin containers make for great favors for themed parties, and of course, for yourself!
No shortage on sampling chocolate here — eat as many as you like while browsing what to purchase!

OMGSKDKTARETK THE DARK CHOCOLATE COVERED COCOA NIBS. I COULD EAT THEM FOREVER EVER AND EVER AAAASJDGJGJNMVDFG
Everything we had here was super good. The moccha truffle, lemon zest truffle, blueberry chocolate, the cocoa nibs!!! The person at the shop also gave us little gifts, two box of dark chocolate and milk chocolate! Haven’t open them yet but I’m sure they are very good as well!

The SF Chocolate Factory is a hard-​to-​find treat due to all the one-​way streets in SOMA, but well worth the trek to find. Real quality chocolates in perfect bite-​size pieces. I prefer their packaging over traditional bar chocolates because it helps me not eat the whole thing in one sitting. Both my dentist and my waistline appreciate SF Chocolate Factory’s proportions. Also, their owner Brian is really friendly and helpful and you can tell that he cares about your enjoyment. He’s a true chocolate lover:-)

Went here with a groupon to get little goodies for christmas box packages for the aunties and uncles. I found chocolate that pair well with white/​red wine or the bubblé.
The man running the store was very informative and helpful. At the counter they had some fresh truffles, so tempted to try but I can not tell you what it would have tasted like. There are plenty of samples so you know what you are getting yourself into. My favorites though were the chocolate covered coffee beans.

I went here today with a Groupon that was close to its expiration date. Brian, the sales person, was extremely nice, friendly and helpful. There was a little flurry of activity right after I arrived, it being right before Valentine’s day and some more Groupons still out there coming in to be redeemed. He had to have someone in the back make up what I decided to purchase so I had to wait a bit. I was not in a rush anyway and told him that was fine but he gave me a special deal for being patient. Nice touch!
They have samples of the 4 kinds of chocolate, white, milk, dark, and extra dark. I usually prefer milk chocolate and I did this time too. It’s very creamy and smooth.
I will definitely go back to purchase more.

How i found out about this place and why i came to the store was all because of a «Google Offer» that I had purchased. It was $ 10 for $ 20 so technically, 50% off! Good deal baby! This chocolate store seemed a tad rundown, but its «Got Milk» products were pretty cute and the «wine lovers» and «coffee lovers» chocolate sounded like interesting. I bought a «Got Milk» mug with a bag of hot chocolate mix and a lil’ cow plushie in it for $ 7-​ish, a round tin box of «Cabernet» chocolate and a smaller tin box of «coffee lovers» chocolate. Total was prolly $ 22-​ish but the storekeeper, who was the only personnel in store, took my Google Offer printout and then went back to her laptop to do her own stuff without asking me to pay extra… So, it was like extra saving, wasnt it?! teeheee~ THANKS! This chocolate store might be a good place for visitors to pick up some souvenirs. I checked-​in here via Unilocal and got an offer for a free piece of chocolate, for which I had forgotten to redeem though… oh well.

I came across this place like a wanderer in the dessert with no water in sight.
We were coming back from the Giants parade walking away from the mass crowd trying to walk the back streets towards 16th and Mission rather than going with the crowd and getting stuck on Market with no BART trains going anywhere.
I’m so glad we suffered in the heat and walked this way. I found my soul mate chocolate store. Oops. Sorry. Boutique. Excuuuuse me.
It’s so characteristic outside. Pictures later. I almost didn’t want to walk in because I with people that were probably irreverent to chocolate (think HUSBAND with a whole milk and pure cane sugar allergy~ SUCKS FOR HIM!). But as a self-​proclaimed chocolate connoseiur (spelling? too lazy to check), I was going in and so I had followers!
Ahhhh… I wish I was alone. I wish I wasn’t sweating and hot. I wish I wasn’t feeling like I had to rush choosing chocolate. Choosing chocolate is an art. My husband’s friend said something like, «Oh I like chocolate too.» I told him, «NO. I like real chocolate~ not Kit Kat or effin’ Snickers kinda chocolate. I’m into unique, gourmet, organic, artisan chocolate.» I knew I was being elitist and I didn’t care. What I cared about was the chocolate I was going to encounter inside.
They had samples. Oh extra star. Not only that, the girl was helpful and they had such cute little thingys, trinkets of chocolate things, I wished I was alone and NOT with dudes who were just hungry. I wished I was able to savor the chocolate that was presented to me in such beautiful wrappings, proclaming unique combinations and organic grown.
I left with two chocolate bars: Milk chocolate with toffee and River Salt. OMG. I could die right now and just be happy. The rock salt was the winner and even made my husband’s friends’ eyes move. I saw them. The other chocolate I bought was dark chocolate with habanero truffles. Yes, definitely made for me. It was spicy and rich and just sinful. I was loving it.
Don’t go there. It’s absolutely disgusting.
