The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center

This place is such a gem in the neighborhood. I can’t speak to all of the services they offer but became a member for the fitness classes and gym. The gym itself is rarely crowded even at peak hours. They have a diverse fitness class schedule including stuff for the kids. The fitness instructors are amazing and encouraging. In fact, the entire staff is great and welcoming. It’s super affordable especially for family memberships. If you are gym-​phobic like myself but want to get some fitness in this is the perfect place and space to do it.

During my workout here, I witness a male gym member interrupt a woman gym member who was on the treadmill. He proceeds to stare blatantly and degradingly at this woman — checking her out by standing directly behind her treadmill.
After a heated exchanged between the two gym members… this obviously upset and disgusted female gym member goes to stand up for herself by letting the staff know about this man’s «Neanderthal-​ish» behavior.
ALL the WHILE, the man is throwing a huge fit and cusses out the woman, «There’s nothing you can do about it.»
Now, the FEMALE supervisor proceeds to say to the lady, «This is a public place, sorry we can’t do anything.»
HOW ABOUT KICKING THE IGNORANT MAN OUT OF THE GYM AND STANDING UP TO UPHOLDING VALUES AND HUMAN CIVILITY.
Don’t waste your time and money here.
There’s a ton of affordable gyms nearby.

The facility is clean and new, and there are a lot of good classes to choose from.

First gym I’ve ever been a member of and they have left a good impression on me! :]
The workout room could be seen as pretty small to some, I wouldn’t be able to compare, but to me, it’s alright. Especially with how NOT crowded this place is around 3 – 6, I could come here and not have to wait long, if at all, for any equipment.
Furthermore, the staff and the atmosphere of the place is very friendly.

Yes you can say that I am obsessed about this place. It satisfies my every single muscle and it never fails to leave me out of breath. Good gracious I love this place. When I joined the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center my friends gave me the «omg that’s disgusting» look and I shot back the «I am a hardcore low maintenance chink» look. Just because it is a part of the salvation army doesn’t mean it’s going to be full of trash a stinky! Let me tell you what is stinky: there is 24 Hour fitness that reeks of sweaty balls, and Fitness USA that reeks of sweaty old balls (for some off reason older people tend to like this gym better). All in all a great place to work out. What you can expect:
-$ 20 Monthly membership with no contract or sign up fees or late fees.
–A nice clean swimming pool.
–A full basketball court (I might be short and can’t dunk but I heart b ball!)
–A full gym with clean and modern equipments.
–A game room with pool tables galore (no need to pay extra).
–Really friendly staff.
–Your satisfaction guaranteed!

The Ray & Joan Kroc Center is a great extension of the Salvation Army. It offers housing in the upper floors, a huge basketball gym, a regular gym, a computer lab, a game room and lots more. It’s a really nice, clean and quiet place… and that’s saying a lot since it’s located on Turk in the heart of the Tenderloin. The staff is really helpful and welcoming. If you want a cheap gym, or space to hold a company meeting, you should check it out.
