We’ve recently concluded couples counseling at The Relationship Institute. Like other previous posters have already said, it is a great resource if you are seeking couples counseling. Without diving into exact details, our therapist was extremely good! She gave us helpful practical tools and we can see the change in our relationship already. She gave us clear and direct messages about our relationship and how to change our behaviors. She was not afraid to tell us what we needed to hear and we both learned a lot. Yes… it was hard to have an outsider say things that you don’t exactly want to hear, but as she said, it’s not her job to be our friend, but to be our therapist. We highly recommend The Relationship Institute of SF and will go back if we feel we need more counseling in the future.

We entered in couples therapy not on the best of terms. My husband didn’t want to go, and I was tired of begging him to go. As with most couples, we were having problems «communicating.» However, we were at a friends house and she mentioned hearing good things about this place. We ended up calling and setting up couples counseling. All I have to say is that it’s really nice to have tough conversations in the presences of a professional. We talked about all sort of stuff… money, kids, how we fight, even how were were raised. We also talked about how to change what isn’t working. Also, just as some other posters have said, we were given a lot of tools and education. It was a great experience.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Erika Boissiere — she and I are colleagues. Erika is an excellent couples therapist. Her greatest skill is that she understands people. Every couple (every client for that matter) comes in with a unique set of circumstances and concerns. Erika is able to quickly connect with the couple and figure out how to help. She’s very skilled not only in giving couples tools, but most importantly, how to motivate couples to change. She is someone that I also enjoy as a person. She’s funny and easy going while simultaneously serious and very grounded in her profession. I highly recommend her Institute, and trust that the clients she sees are benefiting from her expertise.

After several weeks of searching for a couples therapist, we located the Relationship Institute. Our counselor was effective, calming and supportive. We were given space to share our stories, as well as process really difficult aspects of our marriage. Although counseling can be difficult (some sessions were hard), we have walked away a far stronger couple than we first arrived. I highly recommend this office if you are in need of couples therapy.

I would highly recommend Erika as a therapist! Erika is extremely professional, insightful and experienced. As her colleague, I would not hesitate to use Erika as a trusted resource, or to refer clients to her with confidence. It’s very evident that Erika cares deeply about her clients, and works hard to provide the highest quality therapy for the couples and individuals she sees.

I’ve recently finished couples therapy with Erika at the Relationship Institute. She was extremely professional, called me and my girlfriend back immediately, answered all of our questions up front, and overall felt that she was a really good couples therapist.
We had tried out a therapist prior who said they did couples therapy, but later found out they really only work as an individual therapist, which in my opinion, is a completely different skill set that we were looking for. It was clear from the beginning that Erika was trained in dealing with couples — especially couples that have trouble with communication, something we really wanted to work on.
My only critical feedback is that Erika had a packed schedule, so getting a time that worked for us was a bit of a hurdle.
We couldn’t be happier with the experience.

First time doing any kind of therapy. If you’re considering couples counseling, don’t worry. It’s not easy to say that your relationship might be not be so great. It took us a while to get to that point, but I’m glad we took the leap into therapy land. Anyway, what I think I liked the most about our therapist was that she was knew what she was talking about and was really patient with us without just nodding and agreeing with everything we said. She gave us some realistic exercises that we actually tried at home between sessions. Not nearly as bad as TV makes it. Some sessions were harder than others, but I think that’s just what you have to expect. It was nice to have a neutral 3^rd party help us say the stuff we didn’t feel like we could say and we’re happier for it.

Erika is amazing. It’s great to have a consistent, trusted and grounding force to chat with and help connect dots. I really look forward to each session as an opportunity to communicate and grow. I highly recommend her as a guide for your journey.

If you need couples therapy, and you don’t want a lot of silent awkward pauses while your relationship is in dire straits, this is the place to go.
We called the Relationship Institute of San Francisco, and got paired up with Erika Boissiere, a couple’s therapist. Erika’s mind works faster than most. Her wit and sincerely genuine approach makes one real comfortable, and confident she is getting everyone on the same team. She keeps a the flow of conversation direct that is motivating and efficient. At the same time, she balances it with positive feel that makes no one feel attacked and get defensive. She did a great job interpreting how we each communicated and it felt like a custom plan of techniques to get the most out of our time.
I would highly recommend Erika’s services. We found it extremely helpful.
