Description

Specialties

East meets west at The Ramen Bar, the new San Francisco concept from Ken Tominaga and Michael Mina. The Ramen Bar blends rich California cooking philosophy with time-honored Japanese tradition to create a new variation of traditional ramen with West Coast style. Using only the finest and freshest local ingredients farmed in the Bay Area, Ken Tominaga’s bent on the Japanese comfort food staple is elegant, flavorful, light and nuanced. Spotlighting the bounty of Northern California, Ken’s selection of ramen bowls, salads and rice bowls are a prime example of what happens when tradition looks to the future.

Prepared with the freshest of ingredients, Ken’s recipes spotlight light flavorful broths, ethically sourced meats and fresh fish, a bounty of fresh vegetables and greens, with gluten free noodle and broth options available. Ken’s menu also includes a selection of rice bowls, and large, market-fresh salads with a choice of Japanese-inspired toppings including, miso salmon, grilled short rib, and marinated tofu.

In addition, The Ramen Bar menu will feature an assortment of pastries, including mochi, roll cakes and coffee jelly and is the only place in San Francisco that serves LAMILL Coffees and Teas before 12pm, impeccably-sourced from Craig Min’s coffee roastery in Los Angeles. We also offer milk teas and bobas.

Join us for Happy Hour, 3−6pm, featuring Kirin Ichiban — by the glass ($ 3) or pitcher ($ 16), Momokawa Junnmai Ginjo sake ($ 4), daily shochu punch ($ 5) and more.

History

Established in 2014.

A collaboration between Ken Tominaga, of the famed Hana Sushi Sonoma County, and Michael Mina, The Ramen Bar presents West Coast style ramen recipes, and a selection of house-made salads, Japanese rice bowls, cold-pressed juices and sake on tap. The fast casual concept includes both a take-out and dine in option, and features a menu anchored with ramen bowls prepared with fresh noodles, a choice of homemade broths, proteins, and an abundance of freshly-grown vegetables and greens. Located in San Francisco’s Financial District, The Ramen Bar combines rustic, old-world Japanese charm with modern, urban sophistication to spotlight Ken’s bent on Japanese comfort food staples that are elegant, flavorful, light and nuanced.
