I have been walkin’ dogs in SF for 15 years & I am fully licensed & insured.

I specialize in small groups of dogs servicing Alamo Square, Castro, Diamond Heights, Dubouce Triangle, Glen Park, Hayes Valley, The Panhandle and Upper Market neighborhoods.

I will take your friendly, well mannered small or medium sized pooch with my friendly, well behaved group for a fun run in one of two fenced in dog parks in Diamond Heights.

I also do cat sitting as well providing excellent in home care for your feline babies. Contact me for more info on this service.

History

Established in 2002.

Shortly after the tragedy of 9/​11, I lost my job as a corporate travel agent booking trips for some of the largest companies in Silicon Valley. The travel industry basically just bottomed out after that and finding another job in the industry was near impossible.

As I looked for any type of work, a friend of mine had just adopted a dog and told me that he would pay me to take his dog out each weekday. Since I had no job prospects at the time, I accepted his offer. To make a long story short, I decided that this would be my career. I started getting referrals, meeting other dog owners who needed a dog walker and so on. It just built up from there over the years.

10 years later, I have a successful, enjoyable, fun filled business taking care of a sweet group of pooches!

Paul has been walking my dog for a few months now and has been great. He is always very on top of communicating any scheduling changes and is super fast to respond to any questions or changes I have by text or phone call. My dog can take a while to warm up to new people and Paul was very patient during the first few meetings and made sure to introduce him to the group in the best way possible so that he could become comfortable.
Now I come home at the end of the day to an exhausted, happy pup!

Cat sitting really cant get any better than this. We were out of the country for 3 weeks. Paul came to visit our two cats every other day. Amazing individual. Fed, cleaned litter, played with them, and of course sent photos every visit.
If you are looking for a cat sitter, you may stop searching.

Paul has been a godsend for my dog Izzie and me! It gives me such peace of mind knowing that she is spending time with Paul and other small dogs on the days I work late. It’s clear that Paul loves dogs and Izzie immediately took to him when he came by to meet her, they were snuggling with each other in no time.
Paul is fantastic about responding quickly responding to my emails and texts. He also communicates with me all the time to keep me in the loop if there is a scheduling change or just to let me know how Izzie is doing. And he is incredibly flexible, I needed to add an additional day to Izzie’s walking schedule and Paul immediately figured out a way to fit her in. It’s great to know that, should something come up, Paul can help out with my little one.

We have used Paul and «The Perfect Pooch» for over a year and couldn’t recommend him any higher. We love Paul, but most important, our dog Lucille loves Paul.
Lucille gets so excited when she’s about to be picked up by Paul! I know her wiggling and tail-​wagging makes it hard for Paul to get her into her harness, but it’s still heartwarming.
Paul takes Lucille on his group play 3 days a week, and she comes back tired as dirt (and happy, but mostly tired). She doesn’t need a walk the rest of the day, and I can go to work confident that she’s not left clawing at the walls with boredom or with too much energy.
Paul has been very flexible on the days he can come, and he is always prompt. His prices are a steal considering the peace of mind you get knowing your dog is having a blast and staying healthy. Lucille is so relaxed and contented after her outings, and that’s just how you want your dog to be.
If you have a pet, seek out Paul!

I’m very lucky to have found Paul. My puppy can be quite a handful (that’s actually an understatement) and Paul does an amazing job with him. Dominick comes home from his walks well-​behaved and worn out from having a bast with the rest of his furry little friends. Paul also does what he can to encourage good behavior; Dominick has been pulling on his leash less and less the more he walks with Paul. Another plus– he’s flexible enough to adjust to my crazy schedule when needed.
I’m a very overprotective puppy mom and would recommend Paul’s services to anyone!

Paul is the best! He has been walking my dog since July, and she is always happy and relaxed after she spends the morning with Paul and his pack. It’s clear that Paul really loves dogs – he’s so enthusiastic about taking my dog out with his play group, I totally trust that she is having an amazing time. Paul is fantastic.
Flexible, eager, and most importantly he really truly loves dogs. He’s been walking our little rescue terrier for about 5 – 6 months and it’s been nothing short of perfect. Rufus is massively excited when we leave the house every morning, which is normally the opposite of what dogs do, but he knows that shortly after we leave Paul arrives for his morning adventures. 10⁄10 would recommend to everyone.

Paul has been walking Walter regularly for several months now, and we are incredibly impressed. After Walter was fired from another dog walker due to difficulty being with off-​leash dogs, we were uncertain how our little dog would get his exercise while we were at work. Paul has been great with Walter — using up his energy on private on-​leash walks, and identifying other clients with on-​leash dogs to walk with Walter to give him some socialization in a controlled setting. Paul is responsive to text and e-​mail, flexible (he picked up Walter from the neighbor’s for a week while we were on vacation!) and very reliable. We would highly recommend him, especially for dogs who need a little bit of special attention.

Paul is the best for watching my charming British Shorthair. Really love the way he takes care of her. I have to go away a lot for business, and I can always count on him. He feeds, waters, and changes the litter. He also plays with her, and brushes her, and she does great. My cat, Sophie, loves him, and he is attentive, and I always come home to a happy happy cat.

Paul has been walking our dog Marvin for three months now, and it’s going great! Marvin gets on very well with him, and the other dogs in the group are all small just like our guy. Paul has been very flexible too, when something comes up and we can’t get home until late, he has popped by and taken Marv out to stretch his legs in the afternoon.

Paul has been great for Ella! He is always very responsive, accessible and flexible — my schedule is constantly changing and he has always been able to take her out last minute. I always feel better knowing that Ella is being taken care of during the day. Paul seems very committed to the dogs he walks, and I trust him to take good care of Ella. On top of that, his group walks are typically longer than most other dog walking companies and his rates are very reasonable!

We had the pleasure of hiring Paul’s cat sitting service. Echoing what you see in other reviews, Paul and his Perfect Pooch Services are as good as good as it gets. We were very lucky to have found Paul. During the lead-​up to a 3-​week vacation, we were very anxious about how our cat would respond to our long departure. Paul provided loving care for our little one and came twice a day for an hour each visit. In the mornings he fed and maintained the day-​to-​day cleanings, and in the afternoon he played with him for an hour straight and kept him active. Upon our return, our cat was more content that we have ever seen, even compared to much shorter leaves. In the afternoons that followed he was eagerly ready to continue with his playtime schedule! So he was clearly happy with the time he spent with Paul :)
We will happily continue to turn to Paul to provide quality care for our loved pet.

We are very lucky to have found Paul. Honestly, we weren’t very keen on the idea of utilizing a dog walking service given the some of the stories we have heard, and we are very protective of our two Basenji pups. We have Paul walk our pups while we are at work and he has been assisting us since September.
So far it’s been a very pleasant experience. Paul is super reliable, very flexible and very responsive and communicative which we like and appreciate very much.
We trust Paul with our dogs and giving him access to our condo while we are at work. We highly recommend him and feel lucky to have found him.

We are very lucky to have found Paul! He certainly has that «dog whisperer» thing going on. We recently rescued our 13-​year old shitzu named Rebel… and as soon as he met Paul, our rather sleepy old man came to youthful, kissing happiness attention! And Paul is a great photographer… there is NOTHING better than getting a text with your smiling doggie on a play date fit for a King! Paul is totally connected in the world of all things pets… from vets, to nutrition, to groomers! Love it!

I was relocating from NYC to SF and wanted to find someone in advance to take my French Bulldog on fun outings. Paul was responsive over phone and e-​mail and we set up an appointment for him to meet Zooey.
Zooey had great fun with Paul and he definitely helped her adjust to San Francisco. When she would see Paul again, she would do a little play-​bow, and Paul knew just how to say hello back.
Paul’s a really helpful, great guy. And he even sent a cute report card for her first day at the park. I definitely recommend using him.

I recently started working in San Francisco and needed to quickly find someone who could walk my two Boston Terriers once during the day. Based on his consistently positive feedback on Unilocal,I decided to give Paul a call. He was very prompt in his response and was able to come over and meet the dogs and me within a day to make sure my dogs would fit in with the pack.
During the week Paul picks up my dogs and takes the group to a park (much better than a walk, in my opinion). His rates are quite reasonable, especially given the time the dogs get to spend outside exercising and socializing.
With a few weeks under our belt now, I’m quite happy with Paul’s services. He’s reliable, takes great care of my dogs, and is always prompt in communications. In a recent trip to New York, he also dropped off /​picked up my dogs at a local boarding facility (unfortunately he wasn’t available that weekend or I would’ve much preferred Paul take care of the dogs).
Paul’s Unilocal reviews speak volumes about his professionalism and the quality of care he provides. I’m very happy to have found him and my dogs are too!

Paul is the type of dog walker that you desperately hope has an available spot in his walking group for your pet. He adores your pet as much as you do, he takes special care to ensure that their every need is tended to, he sends you pics and updates, and he is tremendously flexible if your schedule changes last minute and you need for him to go above and beyond.
I did a lot of research when we switched dog walkers and initially reached out to Paul because of all of the positive Unilocal reviews. Not only was every single one spot-​on, but his rates are competitive and I am fully at ease knowing that my Scottie is being exceptionally well taken care on the days she’s with him. I feel extremely lucky to have found Paul. He is professional, organized, personable, dependable, trustworthy, and most importantly a true animal lover. Several months ago I decided I needed to find someone to walk Darla, a somewhat shy nine year old beagle/​terrier mix. After reading Paul’s glowing Unilocal reviews I decided to give him a call.
Paul has been wonderful with Darla. After he walks her he shoots me a much appreciated text letting me know how things went, that she was fed, etc. When I get home at night Darla seems very content and I know that she has been in good hands. I have absolutely no reservations recommending Paul, he is the best!
