All the sashimi was very fresh and there were a lot of unique rolls that were created by the sushi chef. My favorite were the Butterfish Nachos and the Delicious Roll. Every tasted great and service was fast. Give this place a try! I’ll be coming back!

Very tasty sushi and great presentation. We ended up paying $ 140 for a party of 2 but we enjoyed our dinner. They have good selection of sushi’s and the recommended items by our waiter were tasty and great. We’ll probably go back to this place in near future. A little bit pricy but the quality was OK compared to price.

For the price, I can definitely go to other Japanese restaurants and be full. The place is trendy and the food seems quite inventive but it’s lacking on flavor. Not that it taste bad. It’s just eh… The desserts are such disappointments. I have sweet tooth and I almost always enjoy anything sugary but the green tea and chocolate mousse? It’s worse than a disappointment. Bf concurred although he likes something on the milder side. Something is missing. The green tea mousse was too bland. The chocolate on the other hand was too rich. Other than the original flavor of chocolate and green tea, something is missing and lacking. I need more complexity. For the food, we got extinguisher, the pork belly appetizer and artic char roll. The portions were so tiny, I almost cried. This coming from someone who doesn’t eat that much. And funny thing, bf who generally eats less than me, agreed that the portions are too small and hence, ordering 2 desserts instead of sharing as usual. Extinguisher is cool. They lit the salt on the plate. I’m guessing you dipped the extinguisher on this? Tried it and think it’s better without. The sauce is nice if you like the typical Americanized/fusion sushi. But I still think something is missing. Arctic char is also a decent roll. Again, very tiny portion. Pork belly can use more bold flavors and not too chewy. It’s okay. But I ate better pork bellies in the past month so this is pale in comparison to other Japanese restaurants that I tried. The bun was too sweet and too thin, overpowering the pork belly. As said, the place is kinda hip(but what’s with the lights that seem flickering when I first went in) and if you like to drink and socialize, this is probably fun. Sustainable fish… For you hipsters out there ;) cool menu design for the graphic designers… A deep pocket for you trust fund babies… Or if your companies want to pay for your business lunch/dinner. I’ll skip next time. Ps: b patisserie is just next door

My friends and I came here in early September, but I forgot to write a review, so this might not be the most up-to-date/accurate review ever. Anyways, we came during happy hour and we left very satisfied! We ordered some sashimi, simple rolls, and calamari to start and they were all delicious. the sashimi was actually super fresh! Highly recommend. The most memorable specialty roll was the Extinguisher(they light a pile of salt(?) on fire!), but the spicy albacore and Pacific sunrise were excellent as well. Definitely a great place to go to during happy hour — it won’t break your wallet! It is a small restaurant though, so I wouldn’t recommend going here if you have a large group.

I’m so sad I actually want to cry. The beloved Tataki, my favorite restaurant in all of San Francisco is gone… expanded into a cold, clean, modernly upgraded, alternative electronic music playing, high bar stool sitting, marconi filament lighted, just like every other sushi restaurant now… complete with luminous neon signs out front. I took everyone that is special to me to Tataki because it was so small & warm & sweet & crowded & lively &…& just… lovely. Oh…& they took my favorite rolls off the menu. I die now. The world is over.

Sushi happy hour is always the best decision. Price: Look to spend aabout $ 5 – 10 on each happy hour item. Parking: street Food: Spicy Garlic Edamame, Extinguisher roll, spicy tuna roll, and 12 piece sashimi($ 25?) I can’t complain about the food, but it wasn’t amazing. I would come here again because it was pretty hip with good service and value.

The ramen was great, very surprisingly good! The agedashi tofu, not so much. I do like that they have a different selection of fish than the usual places.(This is because they only use sustainably caught fish.)

Casual, intimate, conversation starter = Tataki. Dim lit rooms with bright accented furnishings, sustainable utensils and overall a laid back vibe. A great place to have dinner with friends or to bring your out of town guests to. This spot is trendy, food comes out with beautiful presentation and they have numerous options on sake! Our server was down to earth, sadly didn’t catch his name. I ordered their tonkatsu ramen($ 12), broth was delicious and I was definitely a fan of their menma(bamboo shoots)! I wasn’t feeling so great that night so their house ramen keep me content and full. Only thing bad thing I had to say was that the chashu had a weird taste to it and it was too salty for me. So if you’re looking for a good place to take your out of town guests or to take someone to a place that has pizazz, look no further ! OTHERINFO: — street parking(usual SF parking) — semi-casual attire — environmentally friendly — not great for really big parties

I’m a server and am really picky about servers. That being said– JDISAMAZING. He is seriously the best server I’ve ever had. My boyfriend left him at 20% tip and then I gave him my last cash just because I wanted him to have more. The food is good too. Like really good. JD made great recommendations. I wonder if JD is reading this. If you are, Hi! We will be back. And thank you for the pastry rec too! –Lauren & Thomas

I wouldn’t put this in the traditional Japanese sushi bar catagory. This is definitely an Asian fusion restaurant. I liked the décor. It’s fresh, clean and hip. It’s great for going out. The sushi is just average. Now, don’t get me wrong, they have fresh fish, however the portions are light and the flavors are just super strong. We tried some of the rolls, and the sauces and flavors were so strong that I couldn’t even tell the actual flavors of the fish. In fact, it would’ve been difficult to tell if the fish was even fresh with all the added flavors. The one roll that I liked in particular was the Extinguisher. It was spicy and strong, but I could still taste the tuna. Be prepared to spend money. I don’t think the portions were that big and it was a bit expensive for the portion size. Overall, it’s just a meh.

My favorite to go item to get here is the nigiri enthusiast. I also love their albacore nigiri and just all of their nigiris in general, BUT especially the albacore one because they top it with some daikon and ponzu sauce. Eating sustainable sushi, that makes you feel a little less guilty right?

Some of the best sushi in San Francisco + the bay area. My girlfriend and I went ham on the menu since there was no wait /I have not dined here prior. Gyoza — So damn good. Handmade and perfectly cooked. Sashimi — Chef’s favorite. 6 pieces, standard variety. All served at perfect temperature and tasted super fresh. Mushroom Miso Soup — Meh, I would stick to the standard next tiem. Extinguisher roll — Okay. Overpowered by spice. Spicy tuna had a gummy consistency, wasn’t a fan. Tataki roll — Incredible roll. 5 thinly thinly cut slices of fish slightly charged for something truly special. All the above with out drinks clocked in at a reasonable $ 59. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.

This place is awesome, I have been coming here for years. Glad they expanded/moved to a bigger spot. Still the restaurant is tiny. The atmosphere is awesome, lots of great comfy bar spots –perfect for eating directly at the bar. They don’t take reservations so if you have a big group, be prepared to wait a bit and definitely come early! Love the Sashimi Deluxe platter –nice fresh fish. The speciality rolls are awesome. One is fancier and tastier than the next. Service: was good, our waiter was super energetic but a bit spacey. Overall the staff was friendly and did there best to accommodate our party. Awesome spot for sushi, great for a date or with a group of small friends.

I like the ambiance of the one in Glen Park better, but once again… sustainable sushi. Can’t beat that. Rolls: Arctic Char and Avocado — Nothing special, I wouldn’t get it again. There are other amazing rolls here. Spicy Tempura — As soon as we had a bite of this we ordered another. Delicious. I hadn’t eaten shrimp in four years — it is one of the worst things you can eat in terms of bycatch or destroying mangroves — Tataki is the only place I would feel comfortable ordering it. Double Double — This had me doing the happy yummy food dance. Delicious. It comes out warm. This was our favorite roll. Russian Roulette — The scallops were really good, but the rest was meh. I had one bite and wasn’t going to eat any more. It’s a fun idea for a roll(the person who gets the chili sauce gets the sake), but I was not a fan. To be fair I don’t really like asparagus though. Extinguisher — There is some heat here, we didn’t even use the sauce on the side. It was solid, kind of outshined by the double double and spicy tempura, but it is worth ordering as well.

Came here twice on our three day trip to San Fransisco. The staff is great and the sushi is as fresh as it can be. Our waiter suggested some great appetizers and some even better rolls. Happy hour from 5 – 6:30 includes food and drinks

Service is friendly and attentive. Ambiance is chic and Hip. We had the spicy tuna which was a pleasant surprise because the tuna is left in tact and spiced without the common horror of mixing it with mayo. The Golden Gate is perfectly paired and melts in the mouth. The star of the night was surprisingly the ratatouille. Veggies never tasted so good! All their seafood is self sustainable. Will come here again.

Interesting specialty sushi rolls and they also serve ramen here! The service was super friendly and attentive. The place was packed on a weekend for dinner so there might be a short wait if you go at a popular time. They had a lot of vegetable rolls on the menu so this would be a good place for vegetarians too. For the appetizer we got the corn on the cob(~$ 6) which was covered in delicious sauce and butter and an order of calamari(~$ 8) which came with two amazing creamy sauces. We ordered the double double roll — tempura albacore and masago($ 13). It was really tasty and I loved the crunchiness of the roll. My boyfriend ordered the tataki ramen($ 15). The broth was rich and thick and the pork was super fatty. I would definitely recommend getting the ramen here.

Tataki just moved into a bigger space(two houses further down the street!) but the quality remains the same. Tataki offers fresh sushi creations(traditional and experimental), plenty of starters and full-on entrees. Plenty of seating PLUS an everyday-Happy Hour from 5pm to 6.30pm — a WINNER! + freshness and taste — starters(green beans, edamame) and rolls(spicy tuna, dragon) as well as entrée(ramen) were great + friendly and fast service + generous happy hour + sushi bar — prices — remember you’re in PacHeights, expect to pay a couple of bucks more — parking — street only Definitely a top sushi spot in PacHeights!

Gosh darn, why oh why must I have such a strong reaction to MSG! I am surprised because this place is sustainable and all that good stuff. The food was exquisite and delicious. We came right before the end of happy hour so we ordered 2 beers that were $ 5 each and $ 5 calamari. H The beers were surprisingly large! It got us buzzed quick. The calamari was superb. It went really well together. The spicy sauce that came with it was also good. Although this place is small, there is only one waitress and one waiter. It was a full house and they were all over the place. Getting beers, swiping cards. But most of the time I saw the food waiting at the pass. I ordered uni for the first time and it wasn’t what I expected. Yes it was fresh but too creamy for me. I also ordered the crunchy spider roll? It was very good. Crunchy and I loved the sauce. My bf ordered the zesty scallop roll? I didn’t like the zest much an I also didn’t like that it was«seared.» There wasn’t any color of the sear. Halfway through it, I started to feel the effects of the MSG.

El sushi es bueno, pero no expectacular. Los menus de medio dia se quedan más que cortos. Tardaron mucho en servirnos. No lo recomiendo
