I used to eat here for lunch all the time as it’s conveniently located and the breakfast burrito is pretty good. However, last time I was there I saw one of the workers LICK her hand and then continue to make someone’s burrito. GROSS. Will never go here again.

Very poor customer service. I asked for a Tamarind water mixed in w tap water. The employee asked what seemed to be maybe a grandchild of the owner and said they couldn’t do it. I indicated the faucet was right behind them. Mind you, they can sell more of their Tamarind water. The kid then turns to the grandmother or owner and asks in Spanish the same question. Instead of saying sure go ahead she say .“charge her for that”… Then I spoke to her in Spanish asking what she wanted to charge me. She finally let the employee fill tap water it wasn’t busy– no customers behind me.

Food is mediocre. Over priced taco/salad bar. Common $ 10 for a plate of food that has been sitting since???

DONOT spend your money for the food here. The burrito I got made me sick, not to mention the price was different from the sign. It felt like lava coming out my ass each time I made a pilgrimage to «the throne». The women working here aren’t friendly with one particular lady being terribly rude. The ONLY thing tolerable is the horchata but even that is subpar.

I’ve frequented this place roughly once a week for the last year whenever I fail to pack myself a lunch. The food can be a hit or miss depending on the time and item you choose. The carne asada, carnitas, and pineapple chicken are always delicious in their salad/self-serve bar! The taquitos are typically dry and sometimes cold and their plantains can either be warm and delicious or cold as well. Their salsa can taste either great or too salty, so I always stick with a little bit; as I mentioned earlier, it completely depends on the time! If the food looks like it’s not steaming and it’s running towards the end, either wait for a new batch or avoid it. As far as burritos go, I’ve only had about six or so. I’ve had one of their breakfast burritos and that was pretty good! I enjoy getting their Diego Rivera burrito, which is a vegetarian burrito, because I like guacamole! Although, one of the times I got a burrito, it ended up being really soggy and gross. I’ve ordered their carne asada fries twice and those are delicious if you feel like you’ve got an appetite. However, I stick to the salad bar because it doesn’t fail to hit the spot when I’m hungry!

Pretty disappointing the one time I ordered from the menu. I got the flautas special thinking it would be at least decent but nope the inside of them was dry and over cooked and so hard that it was difficult to eat. Will not come again for their set menu but maybe their salad bar.

Me gusta esta taquearía mucho! I am a grad student at SF State and my first choice for lunch is a burrito from Taqueria Girasol. Their prices are incredibly reasonable, the service friendly, the food delicious, and the pay by pound is not a bad option either! My go-tos are the egg burrito and the juevos rancheros. The egg burrito is pretty cheap but you still get a lot of food, not to mention, their salsas are delicious and everything very fresh. I would also recommend the juevos rancheros as you get an incredible amount of food: eggs, beans, rice, tortillas, and cheese, all topped with salsa. You can also practice your Spanish if you want as everyone is very friendly. I would highly recommend Taqueria Girasol!

The laid out Mexican food is tempting and the student prices make it hard to resist. I liked the salad bar with different salsa options but the actual food was not appetizing. The chicken taquito was cold… but the wings were the worst. I took one bite and had to spit it out. It was sooo gross. The meat tasted like dirty dish water. That’s the best way I can explain it.

I left a poor review before but I have to change my mind. The food here is great. I got something I really didn’t like when I first came here, but then I discovered the a la carte line where you can build your own nachos or tostada! So yummy! And they don’t have a card minimum which is my favorite part!

Taqueria Girasol has a simple but B– food quality for being cafeteria food that’s pretty good! The taco salad bowl was pleasant surprise off the menu, menu Item that is filling and easy on the pockets. Gloria helped me with my food decisions and turned out pretty good of I don’t say so my self. Definitely a place to frequent.

This place is pretty amazing for the taste, amount of food they give you and price. In the hot bar you can create a diy chipotle style bowl with chips for about $ 5. They take credit cards and if you are in a rush you can order in advance for through the tapingo app.

Probably the best food option here at state, imo. The food tastes good and not everything looks like it comes from a can, like that salad bar nearby

the tacos weren’t bad but the beef was looking pretty gray. the rice made me want to throw up, and then I found a little white bug crawling around in it and actually almost did throw up. threw the whole meal away, waste of money.

–2 stars for food being alright. +1 Star for the employees. Hit up the all u can eat bar — works by weight measurement. it’s much cheaper if you don’t over pile on the goodies.

Pupusas were awful. very dry. Definitely over priced food and the rice tasted awful as well as the refined beans. the salsa on the pupusa tasted horrid. The lady was also mean. Never coming back here! Waste of money

The food here is subpar, but what else can you expect from Mexican food in San Francisco? Despite what I said, I keep coming back because Taqueria Girasol is a great option if you’re looking for something cheap(cheap compared to other restaurants on a college campus), and it’s very convenient if you’re looking for a quick lunch to grab. For $ 8, I got the El Cabo burrito with carne asada and a large strawberry aguas fresca. The burrito tasted very bland, and who knows how long those ingredients have been kept, but the strawberry aguas fresca was excellent. I recommend this place if you’re looking for something cheap and convenient, NOT if you’re looking for something delicious.

For $ 6, you get a MASSIVE burrito that can be eaten in 3 sittings(3 for me at least, lol). A pretty darn good burrito for campus food, it does not disappoint. Their quesadillas aren’t bad either, everything is nice and flavorful. Just take out all the beans for me please :) I just notice that the old lady makes the smallest burrito though(it looked like a joke compared to the lady making another one next to her, which sucked big time.) Although I still need 2 sittings to eat it. But in this case, SIZEDOESMATTER. LOL At least I know which of the servers make it the biggest: the young one with her hair pulled tightly back in either a bun or ponytail, and usually has a bright lip product on.

Fast service, limited options. I got the El Cabo with chicken and it was a decent tasting burrito that was filling for $ 6 flat. They take debit/credit now, wish I had known that before pulling out cash from the chase atm and being charged a $ 3 fee. If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, I’d say swing by here, there are plenty of seats in the whole court.

Why is the overall rating only 3 stars? They make large, decent burritos here that are several bucks cheaper than most taquerias. My burrito could have used a tad more salt –I’m sure I could figure out how to fix this in the future.

Left side, you can order whatever they have on the menu & they make it for you. On the right side, you can make your own nachos & tacos. Weigh then pay. Left side, they’ve got ginormous burritos filled with enough calories for the entire day, maybe more. If you don’t prefer flour tortillas, you can ask them for wheat.
