I believe in tailoring lessons to suit the interests and talents of each student so that they can achieve their personal musical goals. Each student is unique, and learns in a different way. I offer piano students of all ages instruction in reading music, keyboard technique, music theory, music history and general musicianship that will serve them either to pursue a career in music or to nurture a lifelong love and appreciation for it.

I had piano lessons with Susie for a few months before I moved out of the area. In that short time my playing improved far beyond the plateau I’d reached on my own. This was the fastest progress I’ve ever made at the piano.
As an adult (lazily) pursuing the piano as a hobby, lessons normally take the fun out of playing. Susie had no problem adapting to my casual relationship with the instrument. She was able to help me with music theory, mechanical problems in my left hand, and finger placement, but all of this learning took place within the context of a piece that I really enjoyed. This was much more effective than lessons I’ve had in the past, where theory and technique were isolated from the learning of actual music.
