Sunrise Deli Mobile Truck

This truck visits a food truck lot by my work a few times a week (or so it seems) and I ALWAYS go straight to them. I’ve given other trucks a chance, but this one always seemed to be my favorite. Excellent customer service, amazing chicken shawarma (my favorite) and really quick on getting you your food. Also, the warm, fluffy falafel is to die for!

Awful. Just awful. Lamb shawarma was cold. Lamb is tasteless. Sauce is horrible. Veggies clearly are old. I don’t know what else to say. Total waste of money, calories, and time.

Food was cold. Not normal from all the other places ive had. For the price you dont get much food. When you ask the worker if you can remove or add things they tell you“its cooked in”. The only thing cooked was the meat, and who knows when that was prepared.
Threw most of it away.
Avoid this place if you want to enjoy your lunch.

Worst food that I have ever had. Ordered the lamb shwarma. First of all it came out cold, and stale like it was made last week. It looked gross, and the meat was definitely not lamb. Had to throw it away. Never going to order from this truck again!

This 1 star review is strictly for the truck, not the bricks and mortar locations (which I really like and would rate 4 stars). The felafel served in the truck is wrapped burrito style in a pita, not stuffed into the pocket — which means that for the same $ 7 charged in the stores, you get a fraction of the stuffing. Also, the guy taking orders on 9÷2÷15 at 11:30 AM was a jerk lacking any customer service skills whatsoever — how about offering to take someone’s order?

The worst lunch I’ve ever had. The food truck is right by my office a couple days a week and I’ve tried multiple things there, including the avocado falafal wrap, the chicken shwarma wrap, and everything is consistently terrible. I usually end up throwing half away. I finally learned my lesson today and won’t be returning. The falafal tasted like it had sat out for a couple hours and the wrap tasted like it was purchased at Safeway.

I ate from their truck and it was awful. I had the chicken shawarma and it was edible because I was starving but still couldn’t finish it and would never eat it again. We also got the chicken kabob plate — hummus gross, rice and lentil undercooked, and the chicken just not tasty. I will never eat there again. Ended up throwing away an uneaten plate.

Just came to this little spot in Sunset… It might not be the cleanest place, it might not be the best service. But in a city with very little admiration for middle eastern this places is a slice of heaven.
The lamb was amazing and the dolma was spot on… If you love Middle Eastern food you got to try this place.

Been here a few times at the food trucks by 2^nd and Harrison. Today I had the Lamb, which was tough and the whole wrap was lukewarm and unpleasant. (Soupy hummus, literally dripping out of the aluminum foil.) Avocado was 3 $ extra, on a 9 $ shwarma? Falafel is marginally better, but still not something I’d recommend to anyone I cared about.

I really liked what we got from here — the plates of falafel and lamb. I didn’t try the lamb, but the falafel was incredible, and all the ingredients were pretty darn fresh. It wasn’t anything to write home about, and I’d always choose Liba over this, but for a standard, fresh, healthy meal from a truck, I don’t think you can go wrong.

But the cashier at the food truck today was the worst! The whole time a saw a cigaret tucked behind his ear (I have never visited a food truck this lax about this) and could sense right away the type of interaction this would be.
When taking my order he yelled unnecessarily loud and wouldn’t look me in the eye. He yelled next as loud as he could right at me. I was the third in line with two patrons after me. They were both served before I was while the staff exchanged jokes and kept looking at me. The cashier pointed to my receipt and made sure it was the last receipt to be made by the cook. The cook shook his head but prepared my falafel last anyway. While this occurred the cashier stared at me with an intimidating look.
I was polite as always and his attitude toward me was vile from the start. I did nothing other than make my order and was met with this level of disrespect. Not to mention that the cashier flirted with one of the patrons in line after me when delivering her falafel.
I have visited the deli location and have never experienced treatment like this.

Food sucks here… i should have listened to the other fb reviews

I gave this truck two shots just to be safe, and I stand by my one-​star review. I don’t care so much that the guy in charge is surly, but that the food is *terrible.* I got the kofta plate with 2 sides: tabouli and cucumber tomato. The kofta are hard as a rock, dry as a desert, and have way too much parsley in them. Tahini sauce? None to be had on the truck, which I didn’t know until after I’d paid for, and received my food. The salads are totally wilted. They must make them once a week. The tomatoes and cucumbers have that look where the cut edges are all slightly starting to fold in. And to add insult to injury, they charge $ 12 for this abomination. No wonder the line at the other food truck was about 10 times as long.

It was our first time at the Soma Streat Food Park, so Angelo B and I decided to divide and conquer. I went to get us some beers (priorities, I know!), then grabbed some tacos from the Korean fusion truck nearby. I get back to our table and see that Angelo B decided on the shawarma truck. Cool! He tells me it’s lamb shawarma. Great! I love lamb shawarma!
I am telling you this because what I bit into was NOT lamb shawarma.
I don’t know what on earth meat was in that wrap, but it could not possibly have been lamb. Unless that lamb was fed cardboard throughout its entire life. As if that kind of cruelty wasn’t enough, the meat was tough and dry and just depressing. This is the first time I have disliked anything with lamb in it. Ever. My heart bleeds for the poor creature that gave his life in vain.

My girlfriend and I stopped by the SOMA Streat Food Park last Sunday after doggie class in Petco just to see what all the fuss was about. It was a nice hot day and the place was pretty empty which was a good thing coz there were absolutely no lines for any of the trucks.
I had a sudden hankering for Mediterranean food so I decided to check Sunrise Deli out. My girlfriend went for Bobcha the Korean truck. (smart girl)
I was in a pretty good mood so I put my friendly hat on and greeted the guy in the truck with that good old California geniality.
«Hey bud, how’s it going?»
to which said guy behind the counter stoically responded,
«What will it be?»
I was curious about the falafel but had a senior moment and couldn’t exactly remember what it looked like or what it was made off. So I politely asked,
«What’s the falafel again? Is it like a wrap or…»
Before I could even finish my sentence, he slowly took a step to his left while still leering at me with seeming disdain and revealed a mound of what looked like a plate of meatballs on the counter behind him.
I go,
«Aaaah right. That’s what they are. I completely forgot. Are they any good?» I said with a smile.
With the same blank expression, the guy goes,
«Why don’t you see for yourself?»
This guy probably wasn’t hugged enough as a child so I decided to take the high road and not give him a hard time.
«I’ll just have the shawerma please», I said, thinking this would be the safe thing to order…
And let me tell you ladies and gentlemen, that shawerma was the absolute worst shawerma I have ever had. It was bad enough that it was prepared by an under-​hugged Mediterranean guy who was wearing cranky pants, but everything about it was just crap.
The meat was devoid of any flavor. All I could taste was the tang from whatever sauce he drizzled on it. I never knew that lamb could be stripped of its flavor like that. It just wasn’t even seasoned well at all. The pita was tough and impossible to chew and it felt like it was left under the sun for a while. Suffice it to say, half of the shawerma ended up in the trash bin next to us.
Thank God for my girlfriend for buying a pair of PBR’s from the next truck to make up for that god-​awful wrap. It alleviated my disappointment but I reckon that it will take a lot more than a few beers to wash off the bitter aftertaste that this sad excuse of a food truck left.

I’m a huge fan of Sunrise Deli on Irving St., so I thought it’d be nice to pick up some falafel from their truck since they stopped by work today.
The falafel was still pretty tasty and similarly priced as their store (6/​$ 4 and 12/​$ 7). The outside of the patties were crunchy, and the inside was fluffy and not too dense. It’s seasoned well so you can really taste the spices. There’s also some chili peppers in there that give it a nice kick. The big difference between the truck and the store is that they freshly fry the falafel in their brick and mortar. My falafel from the truck were unappetizingly cold in the middle =(
Save your cash and pick up a bag of hot, freshly fried falafel from the Irving shop.

We caught up with Sunrise Deli at Mission and 1^st St in SOMA. Without the banner hanging over the alley, it would have been really easy to miss this gem of a food truck stop.
The group of us walked in, passing Cheese Gone Wild and another truck and stopped at a long line in front of the Sunrise Deli truck, proclaiming, «Best Falafel in the city!» I was skeptical.
The shwarma plate sounded appetizing but I wanted to put their claim to the test. I ordered their falafel plate — 4 falafel laid on top of a pond of hummus and a side of cucumber with tomatoes.
The falafel is great — crunchy on the outside and not too dense. The sesame seeds are a nice touch. The tahini paired beautifully; it was smooth with a lemony tartness. The cucumber and tomato rounded out the dish — it brought moisture to the dish and acted as a palate cleanser.
At the end of it all, yes, this is the best falafel I’ve had in SF. Or anywhere for that matter.

The hummus doesn’t match their normal stuff, and the food’s colder, but it’s mobile Mediterranean. Can’t do too much complaining.

Picture I posted can be a bit deceiving… looks tasty but it for sure was missing the «BAM: in flavor. Too expensive, don’t think I will go back unless I am really, really craving a falafel or a shawarma… uh, maybe not.
