Sun Country Airlines

Avoid this airline. Our all-​inclusive ILT golf vacation included transportation to and from Cancun Mexico on this airline. Outbound was OK with exception of limited number of hot sandwiches to serve all passengers and somewhat grumpy flight attendants. Return flight was a nightmare. The flight attendants had started some 7 hours before our flight took off. They were obviously exhausted and ill prepared to deal with passengers for another 5 hours. They explained that they often are required to work a round trip 14+ hour day.
Added to that were the lack of amenities on the plane: limited wine, so limited were the plastic cups that we were all asked to save our cups from service to service, and even a lack of toilet paper. When the flight attendant was asked about t.p., she replied that she had no idea cause she doesn’t use the toilet. Of course not! Although passengers were not allowed to use the first class cabin toilet, the flight attendants did. And no doubt it had toilet paper.
The coup’ de gras was the baggage handling. After landing in San Francisco, we waited over an hour for our luggage. Some passengers waited almost 2 hours. There were no representatives from Sun Country there to help. Spying a security agent, I asked whether this was normal. He stated, «It is for Sun Country».
While I might take an ILT golf vacation again, and I most surely will travel in Mexico, I will NEVER use Sun Country again. It’s hard to believe they will remain in business.

People seem to be dumping on Sun Country here but I actually had a great time flying out of SFO. The check-​in process went very smoothly, and one of the flight attendants was nice enough to come back to ask me if I wanted anything to drink after skipping me earlier while I was asleep.
There is definitely room for improvement: their ticketing system is way behind the times (no mobile option, no self check-​in) and their flights could use wi-​fi. But I wouldn’t hesitate to fly with them again, especially if it’s the most affordable option.

TERRIBLE customer service. If your flight gets canceled because of weather, you will not get your money back and you’ll have to pay a $ 100 change fee if you elect to not risk waiting to see if your flight is canceled. Their weather waiver policies are absurd compared to all other airlines.
They also make it impossible to speak to an agent, and when you do they are NOT friendly. It’s not worth the cheap flights because if anything goes wrong, you do not want to have to deal with these people.

I went to give my ticket to the lady at the counter. She was very rude. It was the day before thanksgiving. I had been there for 4 hours! She told me I had to check my very small duffle bag. I said I didn’t want to. She RIPPED up my ticket and told me i wasn’t flying. Fuck sun country. I will never fly again. I will never recommend. I can not believe they treat people so poorly. DO NOT FLY! We deserve to be treated with respect.

Flight departing at 1pm. Normally boarding starts at least 30min before as 15 min before departure time, all passengers must be in the plane. Today they just start boarding at 12.45pm really late.

I am extremely disappointed in this airline. I had a mediocre traveling experience to start off (had to pay for bag, not very polite stewardesses, no food?!) The icing on the cake was that they had broken the handle of my luggage that I barely had a year by jamming it in (so clearly their fault) and then when I report it they don’t comp me because they claim it is wear and tear. Customer service is awful and I am not only never going to use their service but make it my mission in life to dissuade anyone else from taking them.

Worst airline… smug and rude customer setvice… missed mybflight due to no fault of my own (tsa line was 500deep)…never once get an authentic apology or any type of resolution or compensation. The manager at the gate in minneapolis Nicholle Strong was totally unhelpful and dismissive. I am so traumatized by my experience I spoke to their VP Eric Curry who just as apathetic and offered no sort of apology or compensation of any kind

This understated airline might meet your needs if you are looking for a no frills trip at a low cost. For me to chose this airline a 2^nd time it would have to be well below cost. I would also wear clothes that I didn’t care about or choose a window seat because everyone of the attendants on my flight lacked precision when pouring and delivering beverages. I had orange juice spilled me and beer spilled on my computer screen. I was sprayed with opening of canned soda, had a full water bottle dropped on my foot and several times I or another passenger stopped an unattended food cart from rolling down the aisle. Don’t these carts have foot brakes? Apologies ensued the first 3 times, however they didn’t even notice things they dropped on the ground or dripped onto my computer. All of this I politely put up with however, my patience began to wane when the attendant blocking the aisle refused to help me find a place for my bag overhead on my 2^nd flight. There were plenty of small items using up the overhead space even after they announced that small items should be put under seats. When I asked for her help to find an appropriate spot, mostly to be polite, she refused and she said, «I can’t move anything! I’m not a flight attendant!» With a less than professional tone. Well she served beverages later so what was she? She grudgingly moved a slim box and put my bag in when I pointed out that my own bag was moved on my previous flight.
The food selection is very limited with junk food being the main fare. the hot burger was the only meal and a costs only $ 5. Since the section of Logan airport where sun country is located had no food to offer, I took a chance on the burger and was right not to expect much — it was lukewarm and similar to a drive-​thru meal. On the other hand it was cheap and filled my unexpectedly empty stomach. The rest of the menu consists of candy, chips, and packaged granola. (The only healthy option) My neighbor did seem to enjoy his beer.
Another disappointment is that they have yet to enter the digital age with no Mobil app for boarding passes and a clunky website.
It seems funny to review a flight based on comfort, staff and food, however these days most airlines offer a safe and smooth journey, weather permitting and sc is no exception.
I can say that many of the other passengers were obliging. perhaps they are accustomed to the poor service, or simply nice Midwesterners. For myself I say Sun Country: please train you staff on simple waiting skills and diplomacy. There’s no reason to pour everything so quickly that it sloshes over the side. We can wait for a tiny bit of grace.
Both flight were 30 minutes late today, pilot named a faulty seat as the reason. I will avoid this airline in the future– not the worst ever, but there’s so many better airlines I can fly.

I am talking about the Recent flight I took from Sun Country, this is my Res no: JUNOGR on 7^th July from SFO to Boston. I was told by an agent that I can checkin 1 Bag for free and, have to pay $ 20 and, $ 30 for the 2^nd and 3^rd bags if I buy oonline. I did the same but was shocked to find out that they told such a thing is not there and, I need to pay for the 3^rd bag and, they charged me $ 75 for the same at the airport … I mean I was given the wrong info in the first place which was ridiculous. If I had known about this hidden charge I could have logically thought before I booked the ticket. This was kind of what I felt like poking on my back with a knife. I could have easily choosen to go by Southwest airlines who offer to fly 2 bags for cheaper but since Suncountry told me that they will offer me to checkin one bag for free I blindly belived them. This has made me so much frustrated and, kind of distrust which happend from your side I will NEVER ever travel by SUncountry and, will surely leave a feedback in Unilocal about my experience. If you guys want to earn money earn it loyally by saying it upfront rather than cheating your innocent customers.
Also the customer service by the air hoistess was very poor. They were kind of very rude and, arrogant. I did not experience such a thing anytime during my air travel.
I would highly recommend NOT to choose Sun country unless you guys do not have any option.

This was my first time flying Sun Country and so I did not really know what to expect but kept my expectations low. I booked a ticket the day of to fly home to Boston for a family emergency and I was very impressed with the way I was treated and the quick layovers in Minneapolis. The flight staff was extremely polite and helpful, and that really helped me put on a smile in the face of a bad situation. The planes themselves are not really the most comfortable ones, compared to Virgin or JetBlue, but the staff definitely made my day.

Hey i got no gripes. Back in the day you flew northwest if you needed a direct flight. Since they dont exist anymore the local boy is now Suncoast. Cost effective, no stops and decent service

Worst airline I have ever experienced. Their customer service is awful, and they don’t try to help you out at all. You request something from them and you don’t get it. You have to check in your bag 2 hours before even though it’s not an international flight and you cant check in when you’re 45min early cause «that’s too late». I will NEVER fly with sun country again and will not recommend it to anyone. I fly frequently and i would rather get any other airline. Every airline I have flied with let me check in and took care of my luggage for me without a problem. Even when I fly overseas I don’t check in my bag 2 hours early. So that being said, do not fly sun country pay a little extra for a good airline even though they’re not cheap anyways.

This was my first time flying Sun Country round trip to Minneapolis/​Saint Paul & it was okay. My mother has spoken highly of Sun Country in the past, although some years later, even she said there seats are closer together & planes hot. But, they do have very reasonable fares & are much cheeper than United or Delta. I thought all the gate agents were wo0nderful, getting us checked in quickly & taking the time to answer any questions. The gate qagents do run a tite ship when bording; this is the fastest process I have seen & they are pretty prompt qwith departures. Both flights to & from were very relaxing, the flight attendants very nice & congenial, one even offering to bring me something else to drink after the two beverage services were over on the way there. The cheeseburgers were a bit smnall but good & hit the spot as were the turkey & cheese sandwiches on the way back to SF. In either case, the ginger ale hit the spot. I just wish that you did not have to pay for the Digiplayer, there entertainmentn system, but for $ 8.00, that is not too bad when you consider you are getting quite a deal; will definitely try them next time. This is my new low cost favorite to Minneapolis despite some corks. Keep up the good work guys.

Sun country airlines gate agents are hasty to check you in and when you are asking about adding pre-​check information, they tell you it can be added after check in and check ins can’t be reversed.
If you are not a fan of the cancer causing scan-​a-​trons, welcome to your next pat down. The gate agent falsely said if I spoke with TSA, they would still let me through pre-​check. Yeah TSA was not interested in what Sun Country agents say.
Poor customer service. :-(
