Stuff — this is a treasure chest for adults who love vintage, antiques, mid-​century furniture… etc.
My husband and I love coming to this place even just for fun. The store is set up like a warehouse, with areas divided by dealer. Each area is unique, some are very high-​end, some are more affordable. Overall, i think the price is very reasonable, you are paying for quality. We have bought a few items over the last few months as we just moved to a new place. You can get everything as small as a pair of book ends, to a set of sofa, or some gigantic dining table. The price ranges from $ 5 to $XXXX.
The staffs are great! Sometimes you get to meet to dealer, who can even tell you more about the items, such as where they got it from, how they determined the price.etc. One of the co-​owners is always in the store. They are both very pleasant to deal with, especially, James, who is always polite and accommodating.
The best part is that Stuff closes at 9pm! even in the weekends. Highly recommended for people who want affordable and good quality «stuffs».

Huge warehouse full of little shops with lots of mid century modern furniture!
We were looking for a set of 6 mid century modern dining chairs and I was looking all over the place for them (not wanting to play DWR’s 1k+ per chair price)
I was about to settle for 4 chairs I found at another antique shop with the plan to get extra ones from ebay as I come across them.
Then I found Stuff on Unilocal and decided to check it out. So many selections! Especially dining chairs! we ended up buying a 6 chairs at less than half the price of the 4 chairs we found in the other antique shop. If you are looking at 1stdibs stop now and go to Stuff.
Have to say a lot of the chairs were re-​upholstered and hence their price was much higher, if you are picky about the upholstery and want to get old chairs to re-​upholster you might have to look longer. We got lucky with a set with old but really clean upholstered chairs and we are planning on reupholster them to the color of our liking.
They also have a great selection of painting and arts with pretty decent prices.
Staff are also very friendly and helpful.
I’m planning on coming back here for some living room chairs and art hunt!
As for the prices go, each little shop set their own prices. So there are shops with decent prices and shops with high prices (especially on random stuff like pottery). So you might not be finding crazy deals but some shops have much better prices than others.

This was like a mini museum rather than a shop to me. There were some very interesting items that was for sale here and some of the things that I found I thought «who would buy these?». One item that I had that thought was this mannequin.
There are two floors to this store and it was visually overwhelming. It would probably take you a couple of hours or even more to sift through everything!
If you like antiques or vintage items, this is the place for you.

This place is only keeping the 3 stars it has because it truly does have some cool stuff. Not the most unique, one-​of-​a-​kind, interesting stuff I’ve ever seen, but… some cool stuff. But literally EVERY SINGLE THING we flipped the price tag on, we walked away in horror. SO EXPENSIVE. There are two floors worth of goodies to check out, so it’s fun from that aspect, but… not your typical vintage & consignment store experience.

Well, fir$t off, there$ a lot of $tuff at $tuff. $ome of it nice, $ome of it not $o nice. But mo$t i$ priced a$ though it’s one of a kind, rare, and in flawle$$ condition. $ure, I’ve found a few little bargain$ here and there, but mo$tly it’s all extremely overpriced. And a lot of it i$ ju$t junk.

Great store, great staff. Prices are often negotiable!

Stuff has everything from cool mid century furniture and home décor to wild apparel and really eclectic jewelry. It’s a MUST SEE for everybody who visits SF, and a weekly habit for locals. I love STUFF

Great selection in a huge multi-​level space. You can get some wonderful original art but the great stuff goes fast so visit often. Furniture assortment skews modern/​mid-​century modern but their is quite a bit of home décor and jewelry that reach antique status.
The prices aren’t incredible but they still beat full retail.

Very rude man answering the phone. Told him about a very nice 1940s chest of drawers sitting the street. Had no interest and refused to inform dealers about it. Very poor business practice.

We went to the city for a day with no plan. So we searched Unilocal for antique places in the neighborhood, something we often do at home. Unilocal came up with «stuff» and so we googled directions and away we went! To a freeway! Where google told us it would be on our right! So we bailed on this plan knowing VERY well there would be nothing «on our right» on a freeway.
Don’t google directions to this place. You WILL get lost.
So we ended up in castro wandering around and just HAPPENED upon Stuff! It was well worth getting lost for. We spent HOURS here and were here until they closed. I spent $ 155 on what should have been $ 181.
A dealer gave me a deal for my birthday! They were very helpful, and we’ll be back next week!
I regretted buying so little, and i’m dying to go back.
(Though do be warned, it’s more expensive than etsy in some respects)

Really awesome mid century pieces and large range of prices so there’s something there for everyone. There is plenty to look at and admire whether you’re into interior design or not, it is enjoyable to look at and get inspired.

Let’s start with the good. This place has so many interesting items that you can easily spend the whole day checking those out and exploring. It has 2 huge floors with full of vintage and cool «stuff».
“However”, man, it’s ridiculously expensive. In the first hour I spent here, I first thought that I don’t know anything about vintage because I was looking at an item, trying to guess the price and then compare with what’s on the price tag. I was always off by 5X.
Then I found a section that I have a solid understanding of the market, VINYL RECORDS. After seeing those $ 30 Neil Young albums that you can easily get for $ 5 in any record store, I realized that I am not the one who does not know vintage, but they are the ones trying to rip you off. Unfortunately, those were the only items that I can comment on the pricing, but based on what I see there, I don’t see any reason why I would not say this place is overpriced.
If you try to sell me a $ 10 worth rusty acoustic guitar for $ 100, sorry but I can’t trust your pricing.

Very rude staff. They were literally talking about me right in front of me. One was even a manager. I guess I’ll just have to shop somewhere else to find vintage furnishings.

If you like cool vintage Stuff and you haven’t been here yet, well joke’s on you!
We found this set of lockers that we instantly fell in love with as we needed more closet space in our new apartment. Alfredo helped us take measurements and we went home, thought it would fit in the doors no problem. We went back in to speak with Alfredo and see if he could talk the vendors down a bit in price, mostly because we figured this would be heavy and really hard to get home. It was.
Alfredo called us back the next day and let us know that after a little convincing the vendors were willing to lower the price if we could pick it up within 24 hours.
So I called my movers who were there the next day and came home… OMG! IT WON’T FIT! Anywhere. Anyhow. At all. Just too wide and tall to swing the angles. Something we didn’t even realize nor know how to measure or account for. So after wearing the poor movers down trying to get it in the front AND back door. No luck.
Almost in tears I called Stuff back and spoke with Mike. He reluctantly said he would take a return. I could tell he wasn’t too happy, but not in the way that he took it out on me. He was very professional and understanding.
So the movers brought my beloved lockers back to wait for another home to give it love.
Really appreciative that they were so flexible and helpful all around. I hope I can find something that I can cram in through my front door from here soon.

I don’t feel drawn to this place enough to return on my own, but one of my friends does, so we go together.
Not a bad place for mostly Mid-​Century Modern pieces, so be prepared for a lot of Scandinavian design!

Not all items here are valuable, but the prices are truly precious!
The items you’ll find here are just like the things you’ll find at some old lady’s garage sale or flea market… except for HIGH PRICES!!! In fact, you’ll notice that items here are priced similarly to retail prices for brand new items… except these items aren’t new. They’re used. And just because something’s old doesn’t make it valuable. That’s a common misconception these junk collectors/​peddlers make. You can find better prices for the samev types of items on ebay or etsy… I know I have!!!
But my bigger pet peeve here is that while parts of the ground floor are WHEELCHAIR-​ACCCESSIBLE, the entire second floor is not… at least according to the sales clerk working there, who informed me that there was no elevator because the building was on the historic registry (I have no idea if this was true, or he was just coming up with excuses?), and then hastily told me that there was nothing like what I was looking for up there anyway. I smell a rat… the kind that can’t be bothered with people in mobility assistance devices!
In fact, he and another employee kept following me around the main floor, too, continuously asking if I «needed help getting to anything»…but the way they asked and the manner in which they acted was all too familiar: I could tell that they were just worried that my motorized scooter would knock something over and break it. Dude, I didn’t start riding this thing yesterday, I DO know how to handle myself in a store!!!
Between poor customer service (that felt more like harassment!) and lofty prices, I think I’ll skip this place next time. Perhaps I’ll drive out into the country somewhere and shop at an actual garage sale after all!

This place is really amazing, and they do a terrible job branding themselves on their storefront, between their limited display, plain-​looking building, and the low-​effort signs above their door (is that Ariel? Sorry, but I’m big on quality fonts representing quality products).
My bf and I are shopping for a small dining table, and after going to a few furniture stores in the Mission, they only have large dining tables and recommended either this store or the Alameda Antiques Fair.
We bike by this place ALL the time but it took a few months for us to get around to checking it out — it just never looked very appealing! But once I walked in and their very ready & eager salesmen jumped to our help, I was amazed by their selection (tons of dining table size options, tons of methods of expansion/​folding up, and all very functional and practical! For example, all the tables held the extra leaves within the table somehow (so you don’t need to find storage space for them), and one of them has a storage drawer beneath the leaves.
Plus — who can tell by their storefront??? — they have tons of awesome antiques and second-​hand items! Lots of clothes, bags, jewelry, shoes, décor, glassware and dinnerware. Once we started walking around, I was amazed at how much stuff & variety they have. It turns out each section is a display for a trader who will go to estate sales, antique markets, etc, so everything’s been pre-​selected already.
Just be wary — their prices are on the expensive side. All the tables we saw were between about $ 1000 to $ 3000.
We didn’t end up finding exactly what we needed, but we learned a lot (the service was great — and they have measuring tape handy =) and will definitely keep coming back to browse since their selection changes all the time. And I’m *really* excited to come back — I will actually set aside a chunk of time so I’ll be able to browse more next time!

Upon departure with a full stomach from Taqueria Vallarta, the Mister and I saw this place and decided to make a stop inside since we had nothing better to do. This store is neat.
I was particularly interested in the vinyl records which you can find upstairs in two (three?) different areas. Lots of old school albums and then they have some random ones from 2000s. Largely overprice in my opinion. I’m not vinyl-​crazy, but they mark their records up $ 3 – 8 more than you can find online.
They have all sorts of things from furniture to dead animals to hats to random photos and even that crazy toy monkey that claps the symbols together!
I’d say this is a good place to kill time, a great place for collectors.
I will say though, after being in the store for half an hour I started to get an eerie, paranoid feeling wondering how many of these things are haunted with spirits and how many came from angry, dead people. …And how many customers left with haunted items and experienced strange encounters! Yikes!

Me: I can’t afford to buy that absolutely gorgeous mid century modern piece of furniture. I’m broke, as well as being the Queen of Cheap.
Scary Little Voice in my Head: OMG it’s gorgeous… It’s amazing. You are never going to find another one like it.
Me: It would be an impulse buy. I don’t do that… EVER. I consider for weeks and weeks. And eventually don’t buy anything because I’m really really frugal.
Scary Little Voice in my Head: You want that sooooo bad. Look at it. Perfect condition. Incredible design. Swoon-​worthy…
