Stroller Spa

Sad to report a negative experience with Stroller Spa. I brought my stroller in to get the breaks and sun shade repaired — cleaning was just a bonus. Without getting into all the nitty gritty, there was poor communication internally between the employees and poor communication with me. I was told I’d get a phone call with a full report about what work needed to be done, which I never received. Had I known the breaks couldn’t be fixed I wouldn’t have agreed to pay $ 100 to clean it. That’s a hefty price to clean a permanently busted stroller. If you take anything there for repair make sure you’re VERY clear up front about what additional work you’d like done or not done. The sales woman did give me a 50% discount on the cleaning and I do appreciate that (although even that’s a hefty price to clean a stroller which isn’t usable on hilly SF streets). After the fact, the technician called me to discuss and rather than apologizing for miscommunication he made sure to let me know that he lost money on the deal. So I give stroller spa a low rating for poor customer service. I will not be using their services again.

Really torn between 3 and 4 stars. The work they did was great. The stroller was cleaned up very nicely. they just had the stroller for several days longer than they promised and dealing w/​them is more difficult than it should be.
On the phone I was told it would take 3 days from the day you bring it in. When we delivered it they did actually tell is it would be 5 due to their backlog. Luckily we called to check on the status. Of course every time you call it goes to a machine so you have to leave a message and get called back. They then gave us a new date it would be ready. We went to pick it up at 2pm that day and it wasn’t ready. a wasted trip over there. they did however say they would delivery it to our house, but still annoying.
it shouldn’t be that difficult to either keep your promised date and/​or provide proper communication when that isn’t going to be possible. keeping people in the loop is very important.

I just wanted to provide a quick update to my previous review. Maclaren conducted an internal investigation into the repair work done on my stroller by Stroller Spa. Maclaren insisted I stop using it immediately because of safety concerns, despite Stroller Spa’s insistence that it was a «perfect repair job» and totally safe to use. I just received a brand new stroller from Maclaren today to replace my existing unsafe one.

We have a stroller sitting in the garage for the past three years and was going to buy a new one, so fired up my Unilocal app and started searching for stroller stores around town, came onto Stroller Spa’s page, read the reviews and visited the website, thought spending 100 to make my old stroller new again is better than paying 400 plus for a new one.
Came to the store on Thursday, dropped off the stroller, the girl working at the counter gave me a price of 90 dollars and told me it will be ready by the following Wed by 2pm. Fast forward to this wed, picked up my stroller from them and wow! It is just as good as new. It is so nice and clean I can literally take it back to Giggle and do a no receipt return ;) JK. Great experience doing business with them! Jamie and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Thanks again for making the effort to have the stroller ready hours before the pick up time.
We will be back for sure in the future and please see if you are willing to open a store in Marin.

I spilled my Acai bowl on my khaki colored Bugaboo stroller. So in my mind it was a done deal and the stroller was basically going to look cruddy and gross. I should add that the huge purple Acai stain was an addition to 6 years of food, grime, dirt, sand and overall pollution that was caked all over our stroller.
I brought the stroller in with high hopes for everything minus the purple stain because there was no way that was going to come out. Fast forward a couple of days and… sparkle sparkle shiny perfectly clean stroller love appeared before me. Not only did Jamie (the lovely owner) get this stroller stain free, she lubed up everything, tightened the breaks and essentially handed me a new stroller. I am AMAZED!
I should also add that Jamie is extremely passionate about her work. She knows everything about every stroller and car seat around. I watched her interact with repeat customers where authentic connections were maintained and saw the pure joy in her eyes as she assisted a new father with a car seat so he could go pick up his wife and newborn at the hospital.
I will absolutely return for not only a pristine cleaning, but for overall maintenance on our stroller. Thank you Jamie!

Update: I went in and saw our beautiful UPPAbaby Cruz stroller and it looked like new! You would never believe that my messy son ever used it. Jamie is also consigning this stroller for me — I had a second baby and now need double. Jamie also offers a warranty on any products that are consigned!!! Again, with the quality of work and customer service, I will most definitely be coming back (which is typical with kids!) again and again!!! I cannot rave about this place enough! I keep telling everyone that has kids and messy gear, or gear that needs to be repaired, to come here — it will save the life of your gear and money in the long run!!!
Original post: This place is amazing! Jamie is absolutely a doll and I can’t rave enough about this place. I am expecting my second baby and needed my son’s infant car seat to be detailed after he did a number on it. Jamie made it look like new, even the blowout stains came out! I can’t tell you how many times I attempted to wash that thing by hand and yet Stroller Spa saved it! I also took my son’s convertible car seat in because he thought that it was a brilliant idea to pour milk from his bottle down the buckle and spill milk all over the upholstery (he is 1 ½ years old, so I give him the benefit of the doubt), not to mention the poor little guy was sick and threw up all over it. Being very pregnant, and supposed to be on bed rest, Jamie helped me carry everything into her shop and back to my car when the car seats were ready.
Stroller Spa managed to make both car seats look like new, which was quite impressive. My son’s convertible car seat was so bad that they had to wash it twice!
I will admit that I was not in a rush as I had reserved a car seat rental for the weekend. By the way, I highly recommend this! It’s $ 7 per day (subject to change) and I was not stressed about the car seat being ready and it’s totally worth it. Also, Jamie didn’t charge me because I brought in two car seats at once.
I have also used Stroller Spa for my Uppababy Cruz. I was so impressed with the great job on the car seats that I had to bring the stroller in as well. I haven’t seen the finished product yet as I was not in a rush to pick it up. But, if it looks anything like the car seats (and this had vomit too), then I will most definitely be one happy customer! Also, my husband and I are debating on consigning our stroller for a double, which Jamie also does, and depending on what we do and how that goes, I’ll keep you posted!

I found myself in that area yesterday without a stroller. For $ 25 for the day I was able to rent a stroller and walk around the neighborhood while my car was in the shop. They also sell strollers on consignment and will clean your stroller for you. They are super nice and very, very helpful! Jamie is awesome!

My friend gave me a used BOB and I wasn’t sure if it was worth saving. It was left out in the rain and was moldy, tires were deflated, and pieces were missing. I brought it into stroller spa and the owner was so so sweet and did an amazing job with the stroller. I didn’t recognize it when I went to pick the stroller up. If you have a used stroller it’s definitely worth bringing it in. Bonus is that it helps the environment as well.

I wanted to love this place. And, I am not one to post critically on Unilocal.I originally called about repairing a flat tire on our BOB. They are out of of tubes and advised I get a tube elsewhere and do it ourselves (left instructions on a phone message) or even bring it in and they’d do the repair. I decided to wait until they got the tubes in because the time it would take to order would be about the same. I called the following week and asked if we could bring it in for the tire repair. Did not hear back. So I just stopped by with our stroller (this was a Wednesday) and everything went smoothly. It was quick and I decided to have the stroller detailed since it was really dirty and we were dropping it off anyway. I was told it would be ready Friday by 2pm (two days later). In and out, which was great with a newborn in tow. That Friday I received a call in the morning to say it wouldn’t be ready until Saturday after noon. There was no explanation about the delay, but to be fair I didn’t ask. I said I’d like be in to pick it up Monday because we were busy Saturday but would try to pick it up then. Monday I was out all morning and decided to swing by and pick up the stroller; we live in the Outer Sunset and were coming from the South Bay, so not convenient but I really wanted the stroller. We double parked when we got there (my mom stayed in the car with our newborn who was crying) and I popped in. I was told my stroller had actually been washed again and just needed to be reassemble and asked if I could wait 10 or 15 minutes. I said I couldn’t because I had the crying baby in the car. I was pretty frustrated and said that the stroller was supposed to be ready Saturday. I had received no call on Monday to say it wasn’t ready. At that point, there was no explanation as to why it was washed again. Jamie, the owner, said she’d deliver it to me right after they closed, so between 4:30 and 5. I said ok and then headed home. Now it’s 5, 5:15 and no sign of the stroller. I had been waiting to pick up my daughter from school based on the timing. I sent a quick text and received a message back from Jamie’s husband about her phone not working and that they needed to go across town to get a tube for the tire and they’d update me on the drop off. Um, what?! Go across town? Apparently the stroller really wasn’t ever ready on Saturday as the whole reason I went in in the first place was holding up the stroller return. I was pretty livid at this point. I received a text that explained that the stroller was accidentally washed again Monday by a new employee but that it really was ready Saturday. Again, how is that possible given they didn’t have the tire tubes? I was really confused. I asked if they’d deliver the next morning as we were now getting into bedtime and dinner. Jamie said ok. She arrived the next morning. When I went outside to meet her, she was eager to show me how clean and great the stroller looked, and it did. But that’s the business she’s in. I’d expect that and good customer service. I had to ask her for some type of compensation, perhaps a partial discount (other than the cost of the tube, a whopping $ 10 they forgot to charge me for when I was in the shop because I honestly think they’d forgotten about the tire repair until they were reassembling) or a credit. Jamie proceeded to counter me and justify how everything had happened and repeated how clean the stroller was. I was shocked. The stroller was delivered 4 days after the day I was supposed to pick it up originally with massive lack of communication and obvious lack of attention to detail with the tire. She finally begrudgingly offered a $ 25 credit but then left without any explanation as to how that would be redeemed. Wow. I followed up by sending a thorough email to Stroller Spa with what had happened and how things were left, and the fact that I thought it was pretty unacceptable. No response, going on 2 weeks. Again, I wanted to love this place and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, which I thought my follow up email would allow, but clearly they’re not that concerned with losing customers.

I have now been to pick up my stroller 5 times over the course of 3 months. The first three times it wasn’t ready despite us being told it was on the latter two. The last 2 times I have arrived at their opening time of 10am and have been left standing here for half an hour waiting. The last time I gave up, this time I’m going to stay here and see how long to wait.
Note: owner followed up and apologized and will be issuing a refund. I appreciate her taking this seriously

We’ve had a horrible experience with The Stroller Spa. They lost the newborn insert of our infant car seat two months ago and we are still waiting on a replacement. Jamie offered to replace the lost cybex insert with a bugaboo insert — suggesting that we could sell it on ebay. This was the weirdest piece of customer service we’ve ever experienced. Anyway, she informed us last week that she’d ordered a new insert and we’d have it in a few days. I’ve followed up with her on this three times, but it’s fruitless. My newborn will be in kindergarten before this is resolved.

I wish I could say I love this place but I can’t. I dropped off my Maclaren Quest to have the front wheels replaced and one of the brakes. The guy who helped us told me it’d be ready one week from that day. A few days passed and I got a call saying they could not replace the brakes and that they need to order the wheels. I called back and left a voicemail saying that was fine and wanted to add a cleaning. Weeks went by with no contact, no updates, Eventually I asked what was going on and I was told that the wheels were fine and that it was the axel and that they needed to wait on the part. A courtesy call would have been nice. I kept getting different answers and no estimated pick up date. The day I was going to pick up they had to close early and left the stroller with another store for me to pick up! Sure it rolls and is clean now but they did not return my rain cover and again and was told it would be mailed to me, weeks later I had to contact them to find out where it is only to be told they need to check. MAJOR communication issues. I don’t see myself using the Stroller Spa again.

I haven’t even visited The Stroller Spa yet but called Jamie today and asked a few questions on our Bugaboo. She is very knowledgeable and super helpful. I’m looking forward to visiting her store in person. My impression so far is very positive!

Over the past 4yrs they’ve refurbished two pieces of baby equipment for us; the results and the service have been fantastic! The first was for a Peg Perego car seat and most recent service was for a Maclaren stroller that my wife and I both thought was toast. Apparently we packed it away a couple years ago while it was still wet, so when we went to clean it up for the arrival of our 3^rd kid it was covered in mold. I tried cleaning it myself and didn’t even make a dent in removing the mold. Over the phone Jamie told me they’d never had a stroller they couldn’t clean but I really thought ours was going to break her streak.
When I dropped it off I had very moderate expectations for what we’d get back. I was prepared for a stroller that was sanitized but stained. I was blown away by the refurbishing job they did! Absolutely amazing. Not only cleaner than it was before we used it for our 2^nd kid but Stroller Spa gave the entire chassis a complete tuneup so it works and rolls like new. I am VERY happy with the value delivered for the price. If you have an old stroller, either your own from a previous kid or one that was used by another family, Stroller Spa will give it a brand new life. Seriously, they deserve a 6^th star on Unilocal

This place is amazing. I heard they do great work and have a rent program, so I called them so get some advice about buying a 2^nd stroller, and I have to say that they are just the most considerate and knowledgable people I’ve spoken with about strollers in general. I cannot wait to get my old bugaboo serviced and detailed for my new baby. So far, I am so impressed. This lady took 20 minutes out of her schedule to give someone advice who wasn’t even a customer yet. Love it!

Wow is all I can say! I brought my 7 year old bug a boo (for baby number 3) to stroller spa and they made it look absolutely brand new, roll smoothly and fold easily! Thank you stroller spa! And only $ 99! What a deal. Jamie was a pleasure to meet and work with too!

Amazing customer service.
I called Jamie on a Saturday morning as they were a Maclaren authorized dealer. The manufacturer was kind enough to send me a broken part but no rivets or instructions to removed and replace. Jamie gave me some great advice to go to a local bike repair shop and was sweet to offer to send missing rivets.

I’m not much of a review writer but I’m frustrated enough that here I am.
To get to the point, the idea is brilliant. If they could only execute what they promise. I’ve used this service several times and each experience has been exactly the same — stroller not ready when promised, often put together wrong, missing parts and pieces. I will say that they do an excellent job on the cleaning, so that’s good. The owner is very nice and well intentioned but she’s just not pulling off the business side of things. I suggest adjusting your expectations when dropping off your stroller.

What an excellent service!
I dropped off a used bugaboo cameleon that I bought. Jamie steamed and hand washed the fabric, tightened up the brakes, lubricated the wheels and other moving parts and just made the stroller look like brand new.
She was running behind on promised delivery date (which was not a problem at all, b/​c the baby is not even here :), but she insisted on dropping off the stroller at my house, which was amazing, also b/​c she gave us a 5 min tutorial on how to use it, fold it etc. Very helpful to new parents!!!
Great experience and I will definitely go back for repairs, tune ups etc.

This place was amazing! I remembered hearing about them at a fair at some point, so when 2 of my tires on my jogger busted this week (and I had to walk 2 miles home w/​2 flat tires! not fun) I was hoping they would be able to save the day. And they sure did! I stopped in just 30 minutes before they closed, they charged me $ 20, and fixed the stroller within 10 minutes– now it is good as new :)
Super friendly staff– I will definitely be back for a stroller detail once I can save up enough $ for that!
