History

Established in 2004.

After 3 years of intense self-​study of photography while living in rural Japan, I began my business in downtown Washington DC in 2004. I covered many, many events for people in all walks of life… My clients were individual people, small businesses, Fortune 500 companies and politicians and heads of corporations.

My true passion for photography lies in architecture, commercial work and situations with unique creative challenges. I started moving away from event work a few years back and have relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area and am thrilled to be working with creative people out here and look forward to working with and meeting more…

Stirling Elmendorf Photography came through for me when I was in a crunch. I’m in the real estate industry and needed high-​quality photos for an important international client. Stirling was on top of it and produced amazing images that highlighted the best architectural features of the building. His photography was featured in all of the marketing material and as a result, the property received multiple offers and sold for above the asking price. One of the best Photographers I know. Absolutely stunning images. His Archival Digital Fine Art prints are to die for. I currently own 2 of Stirlings Limited Edition Prints. They are beautiful. Stirling is not only fantastic at the capturing powerful images, but he is also really great at making people feel comfortable when in that most potentially shy-​making position of being in front of the camera lens.
To me this combination, and his unique skill set are what have let me to hire him to shoot everything from family portraits to my album cover. He does it all with skill and grace and I would not hesitate to hire him for any project I could dream up.

Stirling and Rachel hosted a free black and white portrait session for me and my friends a couple months ago. The result? I’ve never had a better set of photos taken of myself.
Stirling and Rachel are extremely sweet, professional, and most importantly, fun to work with. We laughed throughout the hour-​long shoot, making it a very memorable and enjoyable experience.
Plus, I now (finally) have some great photos of myself. I will definitely use Stirling and Rachel in the future for professional engagements if/​when I need them.
