St. Anthony-Immaculate Conception is a co-educational, Jr. K-8, Catholic school located in San Francisco’s historic Mission District. SAIC has been educating children since 1894 when the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose opened St. Anthony School. In 1998, St. Anthony School merged with Immaculate Conception Elementary School and since then has continued providing a quality education in a safe, faith-based environment. Our academic program prepares students for success in high school, college and the work place in a rigorous and nurturing environment. In addition to the core academic curriculum, we have an advanced technology program that includes a set of iPad minis and interactive online learning, physical education that emphasizes a healthy lifestyle, a competitive athletic program, after-school tutoring, and much more. We have hot lunch on a daily basis and are apart of the federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
History
Established in 1894.
St. Anthony-Immaculate Conception was founded in 1894 by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose at the request of the Franciscan Friars who administered St. Anthony Parish. In 1957, the Sisters opened Immaculate Conception Elementary School two blocks away. Both schools successfully educated students for decades. In 1998, the Archdiocese merged both schools, forming St. Anthony-Immaculate Conception School. Both campuses were used for several years. In 2008, the Sisters were no longer able to administer the school and the first lay principal was hired. At the same time, the computer lab was remodeled, the plumbing redone, the schoolyard resurfaced and gymnasium painted. Under the current principal, the second lay principal, SAIC opened a Jr. Kindergarten, the school’s website was redone, a new school logo and motto formalized, soccer added to the sports program, iPads have been introduced to the curriculum as instructional tools and two Sisters are teaching. The school is thriving!
