At Shan-Yee Poon Ballet School, we take pride in shaping artistically expressive dancers of good moral character. We provide high-quality dance education for all ages. Our program includes ballet, ballet/tap combo, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip-hop, acrobatics, and dance and music movement for Toddlers and Parents. We offer wonderful story theme ballet dance camps for ages 4 to 8 as well as a Ballet Workshop for the older students. We place a heavy emphasis on solid fundamentals, giving you all of the tools necessary to reach your dance goals. Our caring, friendly staff provide a great atmosphere for learning!
At Shan-Yee Poon Ballet School, we exemplify traditional values of respect and discipline while also encouraging our students’ love of dance. By providing students with a technically sound dance education and a fun, supportive dance environment, we strive to produce beautiful dancers that move with grace and confidence in life.
Our Summer Dance Camps are hosted at Trinity St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Shan-Yee Poon Ballet School has been proudly serving San Francisco for since 1989. Our mission has always been to create artistically expressive dancers of good moral character from a diverse population. With over 27 years of success, we look forward to working with our students for many more to come.
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
Artistic Director Shan-Yee Poon trained at the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London, where she spent six years of intensive study. Ms. Poon graduated one year in advance, and was immediately accepted as a principal dancer at the State Theater in Gelsenkirchen, West Germany. While at State Theater, Ms. Poon performed for four years in repertoire ranging from classical to post-modern. Since moving to the Bay Area in 1984, Ms. Poon appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Opera Ballet, The Peninsula Ballet, the Ruth Langridge Dance Company and Theater Ballet of San Francisco. As Vice-President of Pear Garden in the West, a Chinese-American Performing Arts Organization, and she choreographed and danced the leading role in the famous Chinese folk tale Monkey and the Spider Spirits. She has also staged many delightful children’s ballet productions.
