History

Established in 2011.

We are a family owned and operated business specializing in auto sales and smog check. We are a STAR Certified, TEST-​ONLY smog shop, appointed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repairs (BAR) and the DMV.

We are located right in the heart of the Mission District’s Auto Row on the corner of South Van Ness and 15th Street.

Although the business is new, we have lived and worked in the neighborhood since the early 1980’s. We have a great reputation for being hard workers and honest.

I went in for a smog check. Very friendly. I was given the option to wait in a coffee house a few doors away, and have a cup of coffee while I wait, compliments of the shop. Just had to show a receipt. Before I finished my coffee, the car was done!

Great service the technicians working on my car gave me a voucher for free coffee across the street. Work was done exactly when they promise me which I was surprised because they had a couple cars ahead of me they were working on. Friendly service would reccomned thank you guys

The tech mistakenly thought you have to ask for the Check-​in discount beforehand, so I was overcharged at first. But then the owner generously refunded me for the difference, which was awesome. The service took a lot longer than the tech estimated, but apparently they were shorthanded.
Originally made this a 3 star review, but their efforts to make good on their error really impressed me. Now I know where to get all my cars smogged! :)

It happens every other year. You get that envelope in the mail from DMV and know that it includes a smog requirement. You swear you will take care of it immediately. And then you realize two months have gone by and the deadline is tomorrow. What to do. Unilocal it, of course. I called a few places and was told an hour, 2 hours, better plan to leave your car and come back. Ugh. Then I called SFC Motors. «Come on down! There’s no wait!» I was told. then «oh, you have an suv? Check our website, we have a coupon right now. $ 50 for test and certificate.» I headed over straight away. No kidding, in and out in 15 minutes! I have a new smog station, and if your smart you will head to SFC Motors for your smog test as well.

I searched for a star smog check station that open on Sunday. I called to make sure the place was open before I go. To my surprise, I only had to wait 5min. The guy was so nice and friendly. Thumbs up!

This process was weighing heavy on my mind, for I never had to do one until now… since I have a hybrid. It was such an easy, painless experience. We arrived around 9am and it was done about 10 – 15 min later.

No miss. No fuss. They were pleasant and efficient. Drove in. No appointment. They had me out in 15. Used a Unilocal check in for 44.75 with tax and whatever it was 55. Would have been 70. Would have paid that. Have no idea what other places charge. Didn’t check around. My mechanic mentioned this place. Went on Unilocal.Done and done well.

Needed to get a smog check from a STAR station. It’s a small operation, but I was in and out fairly quickly (around 15 minutes). I came in around 9 am; there was no wait and David and Vin were very friendly. I’d definitely come back here again.

I had a great experience at SFC Motors today. My car was taken without an appointment and I was in and out in 20 minutes as promised. They even checked my tire pressure. I printed an on-​line coupon for $ 44.75 (excluding taxes) and it was honored without any problem.

If you don’t pass, you have 2 weeks to make the repairs needed and then SFC Motors will re-​check your car for no additional cost. The repairs must be done elsewhere – they only do the testing here.

I got a quick and competitively priced smog check at SFC Motors today.
I arrive around 12:45 on a Wednesday without an appointment and was told my car would be ready within 15 minutes. I walked over to Flying Pig Bistro nearby to grab a sandwich for lunch, and my car was ready when I returned.
The cost for the smog check, including the required certificate, was $ 70. This is a good price, given that I got higher quotes from the other smog check shops I called.
The staff was polite, friendly, and efficient!

Their pricing was totally deceptive. I’d have them give you an out-​the-​door price prior to starting on service.
The $ 45 coupon on Unilocal ended up being $ 70
— $ 8 certificate fee (whatever that is)
— $ 15 suv or truck fee (it is no harder to do an suv — total BS fee)

UPDATE: The shop reached out and provided me with a refund. They let me know that they were not trying to be deceptive, but that there was not enough room in the ad to include all relevant information.

This place is awesome, I was in and out in 30 minutes. That included two tests since the tech couldn’t see my cats at first. I have non-​oem downpipes and its hard to see the cats around my engine but I was able to point them out to him. He ran another test and I passed.

Brought my car here for a smog test, no wait, Sam got it tested immediately. I mentioned the coupon and he said he would honor it. They have a deal with the Flying Pig Bistro down the block so you can get a coffee or tea while you wait, which was nice.
Fast, friendly, reasonably priced. A+
