Its about time!!! You would think that a city as progressive as San Francisco would have more shared space friendly to cyclists. Off road cycling is an amazing constructive way for kids to stay in shape, develop balance, and stay out of trouble. There are a handful of skate parks in the city that cannot be used by cyclists. And there are NO bike friendly skills parks or dirt jumps locally. Sad but true. SF Urban riders is a great group of people going through the appropriate legal channels to establish more bike friendly off-road trails.

If you ride a bike and enjoy recreational riding in SANFRANCISCO… then this group is of interest to you! They want to work with SF Rec & Park and the Natural Areas Program(as well as other Land Managers) to bring better routed, and more inclusive trail systems, and improved access to our Open Spaces. The habitat will not suffer from this idea — it will actually be protected properly for the first time. The general idea: Better trails WILLPROTECTTHEHABITATANDLASTFOREVER. Poorly Routed ‘Social Trails’ show annual deterioration and cause more environmental damage by encouraging users to wander off trails by making their own. Finally a group that ‘GETSIT’. People want to be able to USE the Areas — Not just look at them! We learn when we are having fun — and having fun can be sustainable when designed and consrtucted properly.
