I’ve had numerous experiences with staffing agencies during past job searches and unless I knew the recruiter from a personal network, I’ve never been pleased with the service (not calling me back after interviewing with one of their clients, running jobs past me way below my level of experience, etc.). A friend recommended Searchwright to me, as I’m in the throes of a job search :/​, and I couldn’t be happier with the service. I’ve been working with Becky Bruno in particular. Becky’s quick to respond to my emails/​phone calls, gives me excellent professional feedback and advice, seems to always have me in mind for both part-​time and full-​time positions, and is incredibly understanding if I’m not interested in a postion. (In the past I feel like if I said told a recruiter I was’t interested, I never heard from them again!) Although I haven’t landed a full-​time position yet, I have nothing but positive things to say about the opportunities and companies she’s introduced me to so far. Even if I don’t land a position thru her I’m forever grateful for the help she’s provided me in my job search!

I’ve worked with this firm twice. Once when I first moved to the city and was looking for temp positions, and later in my career when I needed help with an executive search during a job transition. Both experiences were very positive. I was hired as a temp for a product design firm where I met some contacts who helped me find a permanent job quickly.
More recently, Becky worked tirelessly on my behalf identifying executive level roles that were a fit for my skill set, background, and experience in and above the salary range I was pursuing. She was honest and direct with me about my qualifications, a good listener, and provided sound guidance and follow-​up for me during the interview process. She was a great coach and I felt that she went above and beyond to help me find a job that was the right fit for me. Thank you, Becky!

I met with Chhaya back in late March of this year and I knew straight away that she would find me something. She had me revise my resume by sending me a couple samples to work from, and it really seemed to have helped because by the end of April, she had an assignment set up for me. I am currently working for an amazing entertainment company in San Francisco and if it weren’t for Chhaya (who has moved on to greener pastures…*tear*), I don’t think I would have been able to get my foot in the door with this company.
My new recruiter is Alexa, who has also been amazing. If I have a question, she returns my emails straight away. She is also on top of making sure she receives my time card every week. She will call me if she doesn’t have it before noon on Monday (this has only happened once or twice).
The staff at Searchwright is professional, yet laid back, and I am so grateful for their helping me find a job that is a good fit. I have referred a friend of mine to them and would refer others as well.
Thanks to the staff at Searchwright, I have an amazing job that I hope will eventually become something permanent!

First off, within one week of contacting Searchwright, I was already meeting face to face with a recruiter. Within a couple days after that I was placed. So, compared with other services (like Kelly for instance) this was the most efficient service I’ve received so far. Hopefully a full time position will emerge from it, but even still the amount of care they put into their applicants is noteworthy. Definitely recommend them!

I just completed a long term contract job at a private equity firm through Searchwright. They have a wonderful client base and they are very professional, friendly, and helpful.
I hope to continue working with them and I highly recommend them as a resource in finding a job, or temp/​contract work.

I signed up with Searchwright last summer, didn’t get a lot of interviews, but the one interview I got ended up in a long-​term temp assignment (I had heard a lot of good things about the company and have 2 friends that work there). I am still temping for the company as I write this review. :-)
I found Searchwright’s staff to be very pleasant. Staff was professional, but laid back at the same time. I have never experienced any of the things the other reviewers experienced. Staff was never rude and I got timely responses to my emails and phone calls. I was never left hanging. I don’t know what the deal was with the one reviewer who said that they were stingy with their timecards. Ummm, ever hear of a photocopier??? HELLO?!
Also, I read a lot of reviews about how different job placement offices didn’t get them interviews or work, the most useful advice a staffing consultant I interviewed with gave me was that a job placement place was meant to be used as a resource, NOT A CRUTCH! So, instead of just signing up with someone and waiting for them to call, get out and actually look yourself too! (Getting off soapbox) Just sayin’.
So I gave them 4 stars for their staff’s attitude and 1 more star for finding me my long-​term temp job (the company is awesome!).

After moving from the east coast to San Francisco I signed up with several temp agencies around town and SearchWright has, by far, been the best.
The jobs i am placed in are interesting and well paid. The length of my assignment can vary but often times it gets extended. This is such a bonus because while temping it can be stressful to not know when your next position will begin.
My contact at SearchWright keeps an open flow of communication with me. We discuss the parameters of a job, qualifications and throughout the decision process she keeps me informed and up to date. Their is never any second guessing or false promises. Sometimes, it’s true, a position goes off the market or is filled internally but those things are expected and not to be held against SearchWright.
The office has a wonderful and friendly atmosphere. I am always greeted quickly and walked to the exit when I leave.
I could not be happier with SearchWright as a company!

I was registered with Searchwright for many months (I don’t remember how long which is why I am being somewhat vague). While they were able to get me an interview with Lucasfilm which was cool (the job would have been MIND NUMBINGLY BORING despite the company, and I was greatly overqualified as I am able to count higher than 10), it took weeks for me to hear back and it was the only interview they ever got for me. Everyone I met with there was very nice, but I gained nothing from registering with them.

I wish I had never set foot in Searchwright’s offices. The staff was demeaning, rude, and completely unprofessional.
I met with Sally Shumaker regarding a post from Craigslist. I was looking to switch careers and had sent my resume asking whether she thought I was qualified. She said a resounding, «YES,» and invited me to come to San Francisco for a interview. I drove from the South Bay to the city, paid $ 20 for parking, and showed up at her office. I waited for a half an hour for her to greet me.
Please remember, I had already sent my resume for review and had been told that I was qualified for the position. I was interviewed by one of her colleagues regarding a specific temp job too far from home. Sally walked in, and the other interviewer stood off to the side behind me. Sally sat down, stared at my resume, and said, «I don’t know why you think you have the experience to do this job. What skills do you have?» I was utterly stunned, but I managed to list some of my qualifications. Sally laughed out loud in disgust and rolled her eyes. It was so disrespectful and humiliating. There was absolutely no benefit going to the meeting; she obviously had not read my resume or considered me qualified. Why had she invited me to interview?
I would never recommend this agency to anyone and believe people should RUN from utilizing this «service.»

I have to agree with many of the one-​star-​rating reviews. Yeah, the recruiters may be «nice» and their office may be «gorgeous», but when it comes down to it they’re very poor in following-​up. I can say with much confidence that nobody likes to be blown off and treated as if they don’t matter. This is ultimately what their «nice» demeanors lead to.
Hey, Searchwright. If you can’t find an interested applicant a job, even though you pumped them up in such a way that you made them believe you’d find them one, don’t do the unprofessional weasel-​out thing by blowing them off. E-​mail them, send them a letter, or even give them a telephone call and let them know.

Searchwright is a great recruiting firm. I’ve read some reviews and have come to the realization that a lot of people have unrealistic expectations for staffing agencies. You can’t just give them your resume or meet with them once and expect them to lay a amazing and perfect opportunities at your feet immediately and often. Finding a job requires work on the candidates part, so you should meet with them, take in their feedback and advice, then check in with them (don’t expect them to call you — they have a million people on their list!) once or twice per week. These are busy people who are trying to HELP you, so be grateful for every contact you make and everything they do for you.
That being said, Searchwright does a great job working with you to get you out there and interviewing. They are a fantastic source for high quality job opportunities and give great job search advice. I’ve worked with Kelli, Lauren, and Josh and they are all very knowledgeable and thorough, and on top of that they are all super nice. Kelli and Lauren and totally on their game and will take great care of you. They are both honest and positive — good people on the whole — and you can trust them to look out for you. Kelli takes her work seriously but not herself, so when you are hitting a wall with the job search and getting frustrated (as everyone does) she is good for a laugh to make you feel better and will help you pick yourself up and get back on your feet. Josh is very laid back, but don’t take that as being lackadaisical — he is there to help you.
All in all, I would recommend using Searchwright as long as you have a good attitude and are willing to work WITH them during your job search.

It seems the majority of job placement agencies nowadays get worse and worse (regardless of the economy’s state), as young collegiate graduates get poised for careers in human resource start their careers into recruitment agencies. Unfortunately, Seachwright is one of the worst, waste-​of-​time agencies imaginable. My resume had been spotted online and I was contacted by this boutique with an interest of meeting me because of my qualifications. Sure enough, after researching their website, with the certainty of meeting with top, professional recruiters, I scheduled an appointment and arrived to their office punctually. This so-​called professional agency is a pack of lies!
Once in the office, everything from the inept receptionist to the two casually dressed recruiters I met with proved to be antithetical to my expectations. I met with Sally Shumaker and Laura Beatty, and both women rushed me through the process of being interviewed. Between the two, Laura was the worst: Showing little interest, looking bored, and projecting a total spiteful look (I’d rather use the term «spiteful» than the four-​letter «C» word she actually deserves). No intelligent questions were asked from both, and they wanted to see if I was open more to the opportunities they had available rather than what my apt experience and industry clearly illustrated. And despite showing some flexibility on my part, these two so-​called professionals never contacted me subsequently for any opportunities which may have risen. What gets me fumed even more was that it was a complete waste of time for me to show up – suit-​n-​tie and all — just to be treated as a quota obligation more so than the genuine purpose of their position. I ultimately felt deceived and lied to by the initial call of interest I received which brought me before these two classless and incompetent women.
Despite having impeccable software skills, computer experience, excellent references (beyond the three contacts usually required), my punctuality, and overall marketable skills, I did do the following-​up (via e-​mail and phone) with their office only for my calls to fall on deaf ears. What kind of agencies are these which enjoy taunting the truly hard working job-​seekers with deceptive luring while they hold onto your private, sensitive information like social security numbers and home address while never showing interest in you afterwards?
Despite having written, printed out, and mailing off two distinct Thank You letters acknowledging for the time we met and for my interview, it is ostensible that there is NO accounting for appreciating traditional professional etiquette in today’s world. Searchwright is the exemplification of a business allowing well-​qualified candidates — regardless of education and experience — to disappear immediately into the abyss of cesspool resumes.
DO NOT waste your time with this recruiting firm full of contemptibly incompetent and unprofessional bimbos!
UPDATE:
It is apparent that reviewers Quinn N., Anne T., and Keri G. are all apparently close «associates» with SearchWright (perhaps internal employees masquerading as «real reviewers») making their stellar reviews ostensibly questionable and worthy of being flagged for remarking glowingly about this truly unprofessional, terrible, time-​wasting agency.

The three people I met with acted nice and positive when I came in, but then when I tried to follow up with them, nobody responded to my emails. Its been three weeks since I met with them and I haven’t received one call or one job opportunity.

This was my first time using a staffing agency and it wasn’t a good experience. I wanted a advertising position, but they only thing they offered me was a receptionist position. I told them I did not want to be a receptionist and they NEVER called me back. I found my job on my OWN and it is way BETTER than a receptionist position at an unknown company.

I am very unhappy with this group. RUDE, and please don’t call me and then not take my calls when I call you. I called a L.G. my so called recruiter and 2 days in a row I was directed to Voice Mail. The receptionist has a hearing issue & has called me Jo, and Nancy, my name is no where near either. These are a bunch of want of be’s and they are a waste of time if you are looking for work.

These people are screwy and terrible and downright rude. I have had over two ‘interviews’ there over the past four years — with a lady by the name of Deborah Torres — and both time I have left feeling confused and sad that I even made the rounds of inquiring about any of their positions. In fact, despite the fact that I interview well and come from a top ten college, please do not reduce me to an admin position! What a joke!
If you want to go to the lowest of all the recruiting food chains… then this is your spot!

Even though the reviews here are pretty mixed, I always had good results with Serchwright. It did take them a couple years to respond to my resume, but when they did, they kept me pretty busy with work including a permanent placement (high level Administrative Assistant). I figured I didn’t have what they needed before.
Everyone is always really friendly, has good follow-​up skills and pretty efficient with the payroll process; never had a late check, etc.

I have worked with several recruiters in the city and this is by far the worst. I spoke with one lady who was great and provided the opportunity to meet with her after hours at 6 pm to accommodate my current life draining job. On arrival, I filled out the application and was told, I actually had to see a different recruiter because I knew someone who had been placed by her…
The second recruiter never followed up on my resume and when I finally spoke to her to detail what I was looking for she said «My job is not to get you a job doing what you want, but to find something that is exactly what you are doing at a firm that pays better or has a better reputation.» Oddly enough, she only passed along jobs that paid about $ 20K less and were a reversal in career advancement.
Upon receiving another promotion, I emailed an updated resume and received a call back from a secretary asking that I come in for an initial interview. This agency forgets who you are faster than they can find you a job.
Do not use this agency and especially do not work with Karen.

My career counselor from college recommended Searchwright to me, and when I went in and met with the girl I was supposed to meet with, she saw me for 5 minutes gave me an enthusiastic «Oh I think you are wonderful and we’ll have you in a job ASAP» thing and then passed me off to someone else, as she had to run somewhere. I met with 3 other recruiters there that morning every single one was nice, but have never heard back from them otherwise.
Nice office, everyone is enthusiastic, but what does that matter if they don’t get me into a job or even try? Every other agency I’ve worked with has raved about my resume and actually come through with job interviews.

Very poor service, I don’t get it? Don’t they make money placing people? You wouldn’t know it from the way they act.
I was out of work awhile back and I actually knew someone who worked there, not well, but an aquaintance. NO LOVE !
So you whisper: «He’s not qualified.»
OK, I’m no Rhodes Scholar, that’s true.
«Disfigured perhaps ?» No one’s ever mistaken me for Brad Pitt, but it’s not like children run screaming from me in the streets ?
«Interviews poorly ?» Definitely not, I interview well. I like interviewing.
Additionally I have a degree from a major west coast university, some graduate work, I’ve volunteered at charities, I hold specialized license (s) in my field, and have over a decade of wide ranging experience in said field up to and including at the VP level.
NOTHING !
So I got pissed, started e-​mailing, voicing my displeasure, cause why not right ?
What do you know? I got a response, and from that a big formal sit down, met with several people at the firm, lots of talk, lots of interest.
Cool. Felt good, wrote «thank you» notes on Crane stationary, even went out and bought little gifts for everyone I met with as tokens of my appreciation and to say thanks for your time. Above and beyond, right ?
Positions were floated, discussions about money, time frames, locations, could I commit to six months, more ?
Net-​net NOTHING.
They couldn’t get me a job in a mail room, temp or perm.
I got a job eventually and I did it without their help, found it on Craig’s List, and from there got a better job, but never forgot the whole experience, left me shaking my head wondering what I was missing? Very weird.
All that aside, poor customer service and at least prior to my getting pissed very poor follow through. A total and complete waste of time.
One last thing I noticed in here, when you read the reviews they are mostly negative, but there are a couple that rave about the place and all except one oddly don’t feature a photo, gee I wonder why, maybe because it’s employees of the firm making fake post’s to try and counter-​act all the bad? HI SEARCHWRIGHT TROLLS, WE SEE YOU !
