San Francisco State University Downtown Campus

I had previously taken Extended Learning classes in Meeting & Event planning and the program was outstanding. I decided to take a few classes in their Project Management program. HORRIBLE decision! I took two classes. One was their mandatory prerequisite class which was a total waste of time, learned absolutely nothing, this class is just an excuse to rake in an extra $ 500 from everyone before they can take other classes. Then I signed up for the Scheduling with MS Project class taught by «Oliver Gildersleeve». This was the worst class I have ever taken, and after 3 weeks realized my time was more valuable than listening to this guy once a week, and trying to decipher his nonsensical powerpoint slides (perhaps the instructor should take a class in powerpoint). So pompous, was bragging in the first class that at least 25% of people who have started this class in the past several years have not finished. Dude! Does that not scream to you that there is something terribly wrong with your teaching methods??? There are SO many classes out there in MS Project, there is no reason to spend $ 500 listening to an 80 year old man who is so enamored of himself he spends valuable class time not trying to teach anything but talking about his «interesting» life. And then the «refund» policy on these classes is ridiculous — you need to drop before the 1^st class. Well, if I knew before the first class what a horrible instructor he was, I would not have signed up to begin with. SF State, you should be ashamed that you are taking money from hard working people for this hot mess of a class.

The staff here is not helpful. From the staff at SFSU to SFSU extended learning. No one wants to take ownership for their mistakes and kept transferring the call to the next representative. Nothing can get resolve with this team. When you finally reach a person in charge and they will rush you off the phone. The «I can’t help you» attitude. Hope the senior leadership will try to call your staff and see what kind of experience you receive from SFSU.

Okay, I admit it. I do not go to SFSU but have a few friends that do. Here I am doing a late night review of this sweet joint. Seriously, who has heard of a CSU Annex in a mall? It would be cool if SJSU would do the same but if you look at Santa Clara county malls, we cannot have one. I have seen the classrooms and it look posh. It is probably the only one of its kind in the US. As a SF public transport worker, I really enjoy the fact that a trip to the mall seems educational with the 6 floor. I like how students just board the BART train and walk right in to class. The view is really nice and takes away the uniqueness from all CSUs even though «we» are equal in many ways. Studying here also is fool proof because privacy is not a problem here.

Located on the 6^th Floor of Westfield Mall, this place is awesome during the week since I get a lot of home work done. BART/​MUNI is conveniently located on the ground floor and all ya gotta do is take the elevator.
Hungry? Np! There’s hella food on the ground floor, dome level and around the area. I prefer this campus location over the gloomy main campus in the Ingleside district because the weather is always shitty over there. In the evenings, it can get a bit hectic in here since majority of the students who attend here are MBA students and have full time jobs during the day.

Best place for a campus. Who doesn’t like a campus which looks all professional? Besides, going down the concourses level, you have all choices of food, shops, and access to Bart as well.

I love how it is in the mall! I can go shopping before/​after class. It is so convenient because can be found anywhere. Transportation is easily accessible because the Bart & Muni is right below.
The downtown campus is so much beautiful than the main campus. Most classes are here for graduate students. However, some undergrad students attend their upper division classes such as business 682 and business 690.
I wish there was a study area and a small library where students can come and study. Instead of the lounge area where there isn’t enough room for students.

Great experience! They are always a phone call away if you have a question and they respond to emails quickly! My instructor was AMAZING. He is a CEO with real life experience that applied directly to my continuing education. Worth the money! I go back for another course!

I am very disappointed in the service that SFSU Extended Learning provides to it’s students. I had enrolled for 6 classes and two of them were postponed which was fine. I received payment for one of the classes, but for the other one I was told I could transfer the funds to another course or the class in the spring. They told me it was all set but then I found out I was still not enrolled 3 months later. I had sent emails and voice message to the person in charge and she did not respond. When I finally got her live on the phone two months later, she told me it was all taken care of, and now found out that it was not. Very poor customer service. I am very displeased. I had also re-​registered for the class I was reimbursed for, and now they cannot find my payment or any record of it. I cannot believe the school is so disorganized. Very frustrating.

Came here today for an Open House for the graduate program. I am looking at school options and wanted to see what SFSU has to offer. First, I love the location, conveniently down the street from my job with BART/​MUNI right downstairs. The alumni and Director seemed passionate about the program that I’m motivated to be apart of it. Overall, I love what I saw so far, love the convenient location, and who cannot love that it’s connected to the mall :)

Perfect setting right in the middle of the most beautiful city in the world. Adult learning at its finest. The most competent staff on hand to help students solidify their ongoing education. And even though it sits atop the Westfield Center, there are no worries as it has semi-​dedicated elevators, the floors own security, and has a very business class feel. No regrets here! From business to legal, this campus has the professional training for the professional trade. Don’t be afraid to learn new things.

I am fortunate to have many of my classes take place at the downtown campus. Its modern and up to date which is great for all the audio and digital media students that attend. It’s also in a great location so that students who live outside of San Francisco can easily get to and from school using public transit or driving.

Why I love it:
— SUPER clean bathrooms. They are amazing and I never have to wait in line because there are so many stalls
–Friendly security staff
–Feeling like I’m in the city (not out in the boonies like on SFSU main campus)
–Terrace on the roof!
Why not the fifth star?
–One bathroom per floor wouldn’t be so crazy if it weren’t so far away from half the floor. Can we make the restroom more centralized somehow?
–WIFI is often shotty
–Business students

I just threw a small blogger’s summit at SFSU Westfield and it was great. The venue is perfect for bloggers, the wireless was really good and we didn’t have to worry about the restrictions that a hotel might place on us. The rooms are barebones classrooms but I prefer that to a cheesy ballroom. Adam and Dania are really great facility managers and keep everything running smoothly. As well, although you have to use preferrred vendors, they have a huge selection. We ordered from Buckhorn Grill, Out the Door and Bristol Farms.

This is a great place for a masters’ program. Connected to public transit, central to downtown SF, and nice facilities makes coming here to learn great for working professionals (and not so professional). I’ll admit, when I first started studying here, I would be distracted every holiday season looking down into the mall at the shops, theater and spa, wishing I was there and not sitting in class. But that passes and you find that it is easy to become focused on your program. Now that I’m coming to the end of my last semester, I’m feeling a bit sentimental about the time I’ve spent here and the great connections I’ve made with my fellow students, the faculty and the staff. I’ll even miss seeing the security guard with glasses that I always wave hi to when I’m leaving for the day. The experience and the education is worth the price (no matter how much people will complain about the cost).
This is the City’s university. You could/​should make it yours.

It is so great to have classes downtown and not have to go down to the main campus often. There are 3 graduate programs on the 5^th floor and Extended Learning on the 6^th. I am in the Sexuality Studies Department which is down a winding hallway with windows looking into the movie theatre lobby. It is basically like looking into a human aquarium.
The building connects to the food court in the mall and directly to the muni/​BART station so you don’t even have to go outside, unless it is before 10am.

Wow… this place is actually awesome. The facilities, as in study area on the 4^th floor, and easy-​to-​spot restrooms on virtually all floors, for example, are wonderful. 10 months ago, my review was negative.
But their facilities, sparkly clean settings, attentive staff, great view of the mall’s interior, boosted my rating of them all the way from 2 to 5 stars! And get this — if you use the Westfield Mall’s interior entrance from the Powell St BART station, you can use the SFSU DTC backdoor entrance to enter it.
Sweet place overall =)

The facilities are outstanding and the location was really a deciding factor (ok and tuition) between USF and SFSU’s grad programs for me. The campus is small but top-​notch.
Professors are an international crew with degrees from Berkeley and other strong programs. Students hail from all over the globe, which provides great perspective and an authentic glimpse into the increasingly international work world.

I attended a training at this location and found it very nice. It is just steps from the Powell BART station. The space is modern and clean and easy to navigate. The classroom set up was great and they have free guest wifi.
They have gorgeous large windows overlooking the Westfield shopping center although I do think it is kind of mean to make students overlook a bunch of things they can’t afford.

So this is where all of our SFSU tuition goes…
Because my department at San Francisco State University (main campus) doesn’t offer the type of classes (i.e., modern approaches) I am interested in, I decided to take a few classes at SFSU CEL. The facilities are great on their own, but are just simply amazing compared to what we have to deal with on the main campus. Most of my classes were through the Multimedia department, and I was just amazed to see modern computers running modern operating systems running modern applications. It simply does not happen on the main campus.
Courses were 3 hours a week, 1 day a week, so it really fit into my school/​work schedule. The location is also a plus, since I can just hop on BART and get off at Powell Street and be to class in less than 30 minutes.
The only downside? It’s expensive. But you’ll get a better education here than you will on the main campus.

Lets see first off I have to say I love how convenient the location for the school is. It is located in the Westfield Mall right above the Powell Street Bart Station.
On the 6^th floor where I go to school the floor goes around in a circle and in the center of the circle you can look down through a window to see all the shoppers below.
The paralegal program has a pretty great staff. I have met a lot of cool teachers and support staff while there.
The classes being offered are awesome and I really like them. They seem to be diverse and cover a lot of areas of law.
Finally I love that this place is located right above the food court in the mall. Its awesome to go down there during break and get free samples. I really like free samples.
If you have to go to sfsu I would recommend taking a class here, the building is new and really nice.
