I came in for a sports injury (rugby) on my shoulder. I get the feeling they’re mostly used to workplace injuries and deeply incapacitating problems. If you know you need surgery, they’re probably pretty good at what they do. If you don’t, get another opinion.
While the doctor (Dr. Lo) was generally helpful in getting imaging to see what was going on with the shoulder, and explaining what had happened, the positive side of my experience ended there. The only suggested options consisted of shots and surgery. There wasn’t much in the way of physical therapy, there was very little transparency in terms of what anything cost before it happened and they seemed surprisingly eager to go ahead with injections, even talking about cortisone shots as a later part of the process. I didn’t feel heard, and I didn’t feel like they were used to living, healing bodies.
I went back to the drawing board, canceled my appointments with them, and ended up going somewhere else (with a chiropractic sports medicine approach.) It worked a lot better, and I’m glad I didn’t keep going here.

I called looking for a new doctor for my mother, who was recently injured at work. After calling many other doctors I was very happy to finally talk with someone who was knowledgeable and friendly. I spoke with Nicole and she was able to provide me with great information regarding how worker’s comp works and the steps I need to take to help my mom.

BEWARE IF YOU ARE SEEKING THIS PRACTICE AS A WORKERS COMPENSATION PATIENT AND SEEKING PHYSICAL THERAPY!!!
If you are unfamiliar with how workers compensation works in regards to getting physical therapy treatment trust me it is not a smooth and easy process. If you are then you are all too familiar how frustrating it can be. BOTTOM LINE, the practice will ONLY help you get authorization for your initial physical therapy visits and everything after that then you are basically on your own UNLESS you go to there practice for physical therapy. A patient has a right to choose on where they decide to go for treatment whether it be based on convenience or personal preference. This office refuses to help patients get additional visits authorized if you decide to go elsewhere for physical therapy. From the words of someone who works in that office they had said, «If it’s not going to make us money then there’s no point for us in requesting for authorization.»
Under the new California labor laws for workers compensation, it is the doctor’s responsibility to submit authorization regardless of where the patient wants to be treated for physical therapy. There is a specific form that the doctor has to sign off on and submit in addition to the the doctors note (which apparently according to their «policy’ gets completed in 30 business days) to the patient’s adjustor for them to review. THIS IS LAW.
I think it is unethical for them to pick and choose when to do the paperwork that is required by law if it does’t give them a profit. This is a patient’s care we are talking about. In some cases, patient’s need physical therapy to get back to work or take care of their family and the office’s «policy» is basically holding the patient back to recovery.
I’m sure the doctor’s themselves are fine doctor’s and the staff are pleasant, but their policy is very skewed and opportunistic.

This review is specifically for Thomas Church, the surgery scheduler. He has got to be the most competent, caring and effective person that I have ever encountered while dealing with medical personnel!
My doctor had to cancel my surgery the day before it was scheduled. To say I was bummed was not even close… this was NOT elective surgery after all. Thomas not only squeezed me in for surgery only 3 days later but scheduled it at a completely different location that was more convenient for me. He had to speak to several people at my insurance company and did it without breaking a sweat.
Then when I had to have a second procedure requiring another surgery center at the last moment (was going to be an in-​office procedure), Thomas, once again, got me scheduled in at the last moment.
He returned all my calls or e-​mails promptly and helped me with issues that weren’t even part of his job description.
Awesome!!!

I see Dr Schoefferman for an injury from 2011. I like Dr Schoefferman! He managed my case taking into consideration everything I have been through dealing with this injury. I felt like I had finally been heard. I didn’t chose him personally but he was a referred to me by my employee health provider who felt I needed more care. Dr schoefferman took the time to break down my problem and laid out all my options. He never forced me to do a treatment he highly recommended but rather allowed me to make informed decisions about my medical care. Some treatments worked others did not. He did not sugar coat my diagnosis and I truly appreciated that. What I disliked most about this office is how hard it was to get in contact with him for any issues. Because of this. I had to go to my primary MD not related to my workers comp case. There is a long wait but I understand complicated cases take time. He always gave me his time and never made me feel rushed! He specializes in pain management. I hope no one has to go through pain but if your dealing with it and need a specialist for it… I would recommend Dr Schoefferman. I would probably try him at his other office in Marin.

I was going to give this place a 1 however 1 single person turned it around for me. My wife was a former patient of this place. She went to another office not because of the service but her claim settled. It came a time where we wanted my wife’s records and she asked me to call and I did. First let me say if you are working for a doctors office I would assume you would be professional and not answer the phone hello. Whoever it was didn’t state their name and answered hello how can I help. I told her that I needed a copy of my wife’s medical records. I was told that I couldn’t and that my wife had to call. I asked why and I was told those where the rules. I thought it was a lousy explanation so I asked if she could go into more detail and it was obvious she did not know what she was talking about. I asked to speak with a supervisor and I was told that the supervisor was not there. I asked to speak with another supervisor and I was told they all were gone for the day. Really??? I was so furious that I hung up. I then called back immediately and dialed any prompt other than the one I chose the first time. A man answered the phone and I found myself in the surgery department and explained that I was very upset and I did not want to be transferred and I told him what I needed. We’ll to say he was helpful would be a disservice to what he did for me. I was on the phone with the gentleman I believe his name was tom and he explained what I needed to do and how to go about getting my wife’s records. It was unbelievable how someone who is answering phones for this place doesn’t know jack and a the first random person I come across and ready to chew him out changed my attitude and made me feel like I was important. This person needs to be answering phones. If you are having trouble with anything with this place try to get a hod of that guy. I bet even if he doesn’t know the answer he will make sure you are taken care of. If this guy answered the phone I would of given this place a five.

I was a patient of Dr Campbells after a very complex back injury. He was assigned to me via workmans comp.
I had only been to the ER and had xrays taken. I saw Dr. Campbell for over 12 months. I was in chronic pain and he told me, «I was young, I was fine, Everyone’s back hurts.» He told me I needed to trick my mind with pain medication until I believed my back was ok.
He was out of the office and I saw a subsitute doctor (yes they have subs at this office!) This doctor took a glance at my xray and ordered an emergency MRI. The damage to my back was astounding, and I honestly believe that Dr. Campbell should be sued for malpractice. I think his negligence caused my injuries to worsen over time.
Since then I saw 4 other doctors in this group. 3 of the 4 left, most likely because it is a horrible place to work. The do not give the doctor’s more then 5 minutes per apt. The dr’s do not even look at your body.
The other doctor I saw here did not work for me, he worked for workman’s comp. He refused to request anything he thought I needed, because he said workman’s comp would not cover it. This caused me to finally leave this group of dr’s.
I highly recommend you avoid coming to any of the doctors at this group. They have no bedside manner – they don’t have the time, the support staff is rude, and likely they will be too busy to actually look for actual injuries in xrays and MRIs. If you stay with this group you will most likely need to seek legal advice.

After some research into the $ 250.00 bottle of cosmetic lotion I received it turns out it is just Zicks pain relief repackaged.

I just had a total hip replacement, In December 2010…
I recieved excellent care from Dr. Wolfson… Very patient Dr. And very caring…
I’m 51 years old, and was told by Dr. Wolfson i shouldn’t wait any longer, and he was right, since 2008 i had this condition from a job injury i wasn’t getting any better.
Now since i had the surgery, and had inpatient and outpatient physical therapy, I’m on my way to a great recovery!
I’m in the gym, danceing a little… But with ease, It’s only been 2 months!!! (i coundn’t bend my left leg at all, couldn’t walk down the stairs, couldn’t drive) Now i can do all these things!
I was also very pleased with PMC West Hosp. That Dr. Wolfson did my Surgery at.
And he did come highly recommeded… And I see why!
I Know for myself I’m getting better everyday, and on my way to a great life that i deserve!
Dr. Wolfson said the replacement will last for a hundred years or so… I think a million years!!(Smile)

I was referred to the San Francisco Multi-​Specialty Medical Group by my doctor to see Dr. Paul Roache for my hurt elbow.
I found the office quite convenient, he fit me in for an appointment just after lunch and the same day I injured it.
Dr. Roache was a really nice guy, he explained what the issue was and my options for healing. I had to wear a sling for awhile, but I got better as he said I would.
I felt like he had my best interest in mind and wanted to see me back to follow up through my recovery. I’ve been back a few times, even once on my vacation — I was in and out in less than 20 minutes.
That’s what makes me a fan of Dr. Roache’s office. I just hope to never come back. :)

In the words of Dave Chapplle, «they should have never gave you @:?-!? Money!» I feel as if I am amongst a hurd of cattle at the point of exhaustion before death. I have been waiting for Dr.“N” for 3hrs at this point. It’s fairly simple, if you know that you can only see «x «patients in a day, do not exceed it. Or, if my scheduled appt really means its open to interpretation, do not give me problems if I’m 10 mins late. Nice doctor but horrible organization and piss poor customer.
Update: I do enjoy some of the staff.

Dr. Renbaum is an great doctor. I would recommend him to anyone who needs suffers chronic pain due to work injury He treated me kindly and professionally. His staff squeezed me in for appointments when necessary. He got over 30 years experience as O. D and his knowledge about my case is also fantastic and very useful.

Looks like my review of Dr. Campbell seems incredibly consistent with all the other reviewers: H might be a decent guy in real life but he’s a crappy doctor!
I went to him with an ankle that was troubling me (with a recent MRI) and much pain. His 2 minute diagnosis, without even bothering to listen to my history, «You are getting older, this happens» and «take 2 ibuprofen a day for 2 weeks and all will be fine — except that you are growing older».
3 days later I went and saw an ankle specialist, Dr. Bob Salk, and he diagnosed me right away with damaged ligaments and Osteo-​chondral defect, which needed me to go into an immobilizing ‘shoe’ for a minimum of 6 weeks right away.
I called and complained to his office after that and the response I get «Too bad you feel that way, are you still coming in for your appointment next week?».
Stay away!

My experience with Dr. Campbell–
This is my opinion. He is a tool.
He balances the needs of me the patient against what the insurer thinks is best. I don’t usually win in this equation. While technically accurate in diagnosis a little more care for what your patient is going through would help considerably.
Addendum: After his care I have sent 2 letters to clarify an issue with
my insurer and he never responded. This means SFMMG drops from 2 stars to 1.

I’m going to do my best to write a coherent review. Really, this place just makes me want to wave my arms around and shriek with rage.
My significant other had a serious problem with back and leg pain this summer, and he ended up finding Dr. Les Schofferman through the provider search on Blue Cross. First appointment was in June.
After a series of X-​rays and MRI’s, he determined it was a badly herniated disk, and that surgery was the best option for recovery. This takes about a month. He referred us to Dr. Fred Naraghi for surgery, who works out of the same office and at bunches of other places. Dr. Schofferman says the scheduler will call with an appointment for a surgical consult. A week passes with no call. Thus, my SO began calling to try to schedule a surgical consult.
Another week passes. He leaves messages at the office every second or third day. He manages to catch someone on the phone after about three weeks and ten phone calls to the office, and gets an appointment with Dr. Naraghi. Surgical consult goes fine. Dr. Naraghi is super nice, comforting, and makes my boyfriend feel confident about the surgery. He says, «I’ll have the woman who schedules my surgeries call you tomorrow to set something up. We should be able to get this done in a week or two.» This was a Monday.
No call the next day. Boyfriend calls the office the following day, leaves a message. Calls again on Thursday, leaves message. Calls again on Friday, gets someone on the phone who tells him that the scheduler is on vacation and no one else can fill in. She’ll call us a week from Monday.
Okay, this is getting long, I know. I just don’t want anyone else to step into this office without knowing what kind of care and attention they will get from the staff. I think you’re getting the idea. To be continued…
