San Francisco Marriott Marquis

This place was amazing! The views, location, and staff were all great! So nice and professional. Everyone was so helpful and they all seem to want to tell you about things to do in the city. The bed was super comfy.
Bar 55 is near the lobby, it offers sandwiches, soups, salads, and beer. The View Lounge is located on the top floor. It was awesome and our server was the best! It was our birthday, so on her own, she surprised us with 3 birthday mini cheesecakes for each of us and a candle. It made the experience so much more special. Try to get a table near the window for the full experience of the city view at night.
This place is near many restaurants and high and low end shopping. Plus, there is a target across the street just in case you forget something, we forgot martini’s and olives for the room while we got ready…
but they also have the regular toothbrush and deodorant there too.
There is such a mix of everything here. Behind the building is the Jewish museum and from what we were told the second oldest Catholic Church in the city. I would definitely stay here again!

Top notch hotel here, this is a full service Marriott with parking valet, concierge desk, a 7 day concierge lounge, restaurant, bar, fitness and more. And on the top floor, a bar called «The View» with lots of windows to look out over the city.
Even though I arrived at 9:30 AM, my elite status with Marriott had a room available immediately. Even better, I was upgraded to a junior suite! Nice comfortable bed, large sitting area, large bathroom and the other usual Marriott goodies including a flat panel TV, work desk, coffee/​tea service. I did not spend much time in the room, but I found it to be very quiet despite being close to the elevator.
The hotel is very centrally located, as you no doubt can see from the address. Restaurants, shopping and the Unilocal HQ is nearby. Two blocks from the BART station.
Wifi is not free unless you have status with Marriott.
Great property. I would stay here again.

Stayed here for the weekend as my husband had a work conference at the local convention center and this is where he was placed to stay.
This hotel is located in a great location! It’s only 2 blocks away from the Powell Street Bart Station so a great central point if you want to take the Bart around the city. There’s also a trolley stop 3 blocks away and the infamous Union Square nearby. There’s tons of shopping in walking proximity including the Westfield Mall which is across the street and a TON of shops on Powell Street. There are museums, restaurants, and bars close-​by; definitely convenient for a nice out of town visit to SF.
We were fortunately able to get upgraded to a complimentary suite. The suite was huge! It had a little kitchen area with a mini fridge and sink and a large living room area that included a big wrap around couch, flat screen TV, and coffee table. The bedroom area had another TV and a a pullout Murphy Bed that was terribly uncomfortable– the mattress was thin and very worn down. I woke up with a backache every morning. Definitely wish we would have just sticked with a regular room as the other Unilocal reviews mentioned how fluffy and luxurious their beds are. The bathroom was pretty moderate in size which is hard to find in major city hotels. The views from our room were amazing– loved seeing the city views and waking up to the Bay in the morning.
Don’t forget to check out The View Lounge on the 39^th floor for even greater city views! The bar there is especially useful as the hotel rooms no longer have mini bars in them to purchase alcohol.
If you’re looking for a great central hotel to stay at in SF, I definitely would recommend this hotel! Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms… what else could you ask for?

They got rid a room service at a supposed full service hotel. At $ 500 a night I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. No explanation and no apologies for not disclosing.

Every year I do a #meeting at the Marriott Marquis. Yes, it’s a large chain hotel so it feels like most Marriott but wait there’s more to it…
I was saddened to learn that the Starbucks in the lobby was changed to: Mission Street Pantry. The staff at the Mission was wonderful and they offer a much more extensive menu covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack + coffee drinks, tea, etc! I ran in like a #meeting planner insane one morning. It turns out the AM #meeting that required no #F&B actually did! Usually, I would just call up room service and stand guard in the hallway waiting for the delivery but policy had changed. No room service to the #meeting rooms. The team at the Pantry could tell I was freaked out. I waited for the 3 people ahead of me to be served. When it was my turn, I placed my order and paid while 2 other team members from the Pantry fill my order. I was out of there in 10 minute. And delivered the #F&B to the meeting in no time.
Rhonda Wright, CMP, Senior Event Manager, has been my point of contact for years. She’s always a pleasure to work with. Since times are changing in my business there’s a lot of tweaks needed to make the #F&B work with in the budget, proper #meeting room set with good flow and over flow options, AV issues, union fee, etc — she handled all requests with ease, grace and an amazing sense of humor which is KEY in this business.
Meiko Sims, Event Coordinator, was always on hand when Rhonda was unavailable. Plus really helped out when Rhonda was on vacation and I needed the final invoice turned around in under 5 business days!
The entire staff has been there for years. Sorry I don’t remember all their names but going to the San Francisco Marriott Marquis is like working with a group of all friends. Always available and extremely helpful friends.
I’m sad to admit I’ve never stayed the #hotel’s sleeping room. Maybe that will change in 2016!

Excellent hotel in downtown San Francisco. My company booked this hotel for a conference I was attending at the Moscone Center.
PROS:
— Location. Location. Location. Close to everything in downtown including lot’s of shopping.
— Great views of the city, especially from the rooftop bar.
— Room was large and comfortable. For a city hotel I felt taken care of.
CONS:
— Parking /​traffic make it difficult to come and go by car, taxi, or Über.
— Huge hotel but slow elevators. I spent a lot of time either way for an elevator to arrive or waiting for everyone else to exit so I could make it to my floor.

Me and my BF stayed here years ago for New Year’s, and what I remembered the most was how soft and luxurious their beds were! I felt like I had woken up in a cloud, it was that amazing. I’ve never forgotten this, so when we were looking for a hotel to stay in for my BF’s holiday work party, I was set on staying here!
Uggghh, the bed was not the same. :(It was all right; a little too firm for me though. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel porter, provided a lot of helpful tips for us, and the staff downstairs were able to tell me that the Target store next door was still open when I inquired around 10pm.
They do not have room service. Instead they have a touch panel with some options for local restaurant deliveries. We opted to try the breakfast buffet, but I should have gone with my instinct: if they don’t do room service, that means they don’t have a fully functional kitchen. I was right. That’s what I get for being lazy. :) The breakfast «buffet» was expensive for very little (not exaggerating) offerings that were were just ok in taste. I would definitely go elsewhere.
They are in walking distance of all the stores in Union Square. Target and the Metreon are right across the street. It’s a very convenient location.
The hotel is ok, but I would most likely try a different one when we stay next.

This is my go to hotel in San Francisco. Not only does it have an awesome «View» lounge on the top of the hotel. The people and location is completely awesome. I also had a high rise room with a great view of the city. I work close by and every time there is a christmas party I try to stay here and so far it hasn’t disappointed me. I would say it’s the largest hotel in SOMA. And has always been eye catching with the top looking like a fan of glass. That is where the View lounge is.
I was able to go to elite lounge here for breakfast too and I enjoyed that too.
It’s close to the shopping (SF Shopping Center). Close to the movie theatre for entertainment. If you have kids you can go to the Park close to the Discovery museum and carousel.
All in all a 5 star stay and always classy.

This place is huge. I came here for a work conference and when I arrived apparently there were other conferences going on that day so we had to ask one of the workers where our conference was located. Apparently it was located in the downstairs section. The facility seemed semi– new and modern and I liked the feel of it. Unfortunately the conference room itself was freezing cold. The lunch I had at the conference which consisted of beet salad, grilled chicken with potatoes and veggies and tiramisu for dessert was decent. Overall this place would have been better if they got the temperature right so I wasnt freezing in the conference.

Noisy! Took us an hour to valet. No joke!
Check in was easy but so far the valet has completely dampened our experience. We almost went to another hotel.

I think this is my favorite hotel in S.F.
I haven’t stayed at the other Marriott in downtown (yet), but I love the location of this hotel and walked everywhere up to Chinatown, Union Square, and around the financial district, when I stayed here earlier this month. Next time, I want to check out the ferry building and plan to walk from the hotel as well. I love that it is in a prime location.
The VIP lounge is under construction but the make-​shift location right now is on the 2^nd floor and set-​up pretty well. The hospitality of course, is top notch as well. There is also a small café that opens around 530A and it sells snacks, beverages, coffee, tea.

This is a consistently good hotel. It’s not luxury but it’s nice and Its in a good location. We had a 2 night stay. The holiday decorations are nice this time of year, even the parking entrance is pretty. The 39^th floor bar has an amazing view of city lights and the bay bridge. The room is a good size for the city too. The size of the hotel can be a bit overwhelming. The hallways are like a maze and my sense of direction is pretty bad! Thankfully it’s pretty well marked. The mission street pantry was really nice for quick breakfasts, coffees or other snacks and drinks. It is not cheap but hotel cafes rarely are. Nothing went wrong or was bad by any means, just a pretty typical Marriott.

the 39^th Floor!!! AWESOME! Talk about an amazing view of the city… panoramic even. Great drinks too. The hotel was clean and the room was spacious.
Check in was easier than I thought it would be, it is a really big hotel. But the concierge was really friendly and the starbucks right inside the entrance was a nice touch.
It is close to everything and walking distance to several shopping, restaurants, and businesses in the district.

Thank you for the upgrade on my room last night. You guys were super generous for making that happen without a request. The bed in my room was unreal. I would’ve driven down here just to sleep in it, that’s how comfortable it is. I hope to come back and stay again. My friends that I was here with made a great choice with the lodging.

A company allowed me to pick the hotel I wanted to stay in, so I picked the Marriott because it was closest to the company.
1) There’s no line for regular check ins. Just «members» and mobile check in. So in addition to the $ 250 – 300 you’re paying for the room, you’re supposed to pay more to be a member to be treated well at an upscale hotel. What.
2) This is the 5^th but first hotel I’ve stayed in in SF that doesn’t have free WiFi. First of all, it’s SF. Second of all, it makes no sense to charge for something a lot of other hotels don’t charge for -.-
So do your research before picking a hotel… Hotel Zetta and Hotel Triton were amazing.

Stellar service! A solid business hotel right between the shopping and financial district. Fantastic location for convenience.
Our check in was very smooth and all details of our stay were explained during the check in process.
I have to take my hat off to the housekeeping staff and the general manager for paying attention to details. I was celebrating my birthday and my husband mentioned it when we made our reservation. The housekeeping staff surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a handwritten card and the general manager sent a box of chocolates with a card.
Very nice touches to my stay!

Oh there is so much to say about this place! First of all, the hotel itself is beautiful. All the amenities that they offer a great, except!!! That there is absolutely, no pool! They have advertise that there is a pool and jacuzzi, but when my roommates and I arrived at the gym, not only was there no attendee, there was no pool at all. There were other guests that were there also just as confused as we were. We all roamed around looking for the pool to find out that it is closed.
I do appreciate the sauna that they have there. It works very well and the eucalyptus spray made it a little bit more luxurious. Except when we were trying to ask for help, there was nobody in the lockers or the gym at all. I see that as a hazard because what if somebody got hurt? No one would know.
The rooms were just as expected from a Marriott. The beds were comfortable, the sheets and pillows were clean, the bathrooms were just the right size, and the front desk workers were extremely helpful and friendly. I have to say, the front desk people were probably the nicest and the most helpful when it came to Marriott workers. I have to thank them for making our little snafu smooth over without any issues. I hope to return to find that the gym situation has been fixed.

Enjoyed our stay here recently. I like how the lobby looks and the front desk agent Sabina was a pleasure during our check-​in. It’s a huge hotel with three different elevators to take you to low, mid and high rise towers. She gave us a mid-​rise room on the 17^th floor but when we got there, we found a crib which we obviously didn’t need since we don’t have a child so that was bizarre. Our room was pretty basic but it was clean and the bed was comfy. The TV went kinda wonky and the screen gets fuzzy or froze a couple of times. Not sure what it was but I’m assuming it was cable issues.
The location is awesome, many restaurants and bars in the area. There’s Target, Metreon, Union Square is within walking distance, Ross and plenty more. There’s valet parking for $ 65 which is the typical fee at most hotels but you will save half the money by parking at the garage across the street if you don’t mind looking for parking for $ 34 overnight but no in and out privileges though. We are planning on coming back for another random overnight stay; we didn’t get to check out the View Lounge so that’s another reason to return.

Comfort is synonymous with luxury.
I had a bad experience here once. I posted a 1 star review. I was contacted by the Marriot hotel management and corporate about the contents of my review.
I was really angry and disappointed. I expect better. I’ve received better… just not tha day.
People often weakly say idiotic things like «Everyone has an off day»
WRONG.
When I am spending my hard earned money, I should not be at the mercy of anyone having an «off day», demonstrating a lack of professionalism, and enduring downright rude behavior.
I returned this year.
Everyone I encountered was friendly, professional, and helpful. This is the standard I know and appreciate from EVERY Marriott brand hotel I visit. EVERY check in. EVERY departure.
Once I got to my room, there was a knock at the door. A gift of complementary chocolate truffles were hand delivered. They remembered the last time, the 1 star review time, I was there celebrating a birthday.
They remembered that detail. I really love that.
My room was gorgeous, room service was exceptional, the bar downstairs was delightful, and the bed in my suite so comfortable, I begrudgingly climbed out of it in the morning and left my nightgown in the sheets somewhere.
Yes, the bed was that good. I am serious. I wish I could have slept another day in that bed.
I was really happy with every aspect of my stay this time, that I am glad I returned despite the previous 1 star experience.
I received an e-​mail the morning of my departure checking in to make sure my stay was a great one.
It was. Marriott Marquis took my review and feedback to the manager and corporate to heart and implemented changes. I so appreciate that because my life is hectic and stressful. The last thing I need is a stranger treating me poorly and behaving unprofessionally, while taking my hard earned money.
My faith in the Marriott Marquis SF has been restored. I will return for another relaxing 5 star experience.

J’ai essayé un grand nombre d’hôtels à San Francisco et c’est bien la première fois que je donne mon avis.
Le Marriott Marquis SF est parfaitement placé, proche d’Union Square, du centre commercial Westfield, du MOMA …
Les chambres sont spacieuses et agréables. Question parking $ 62 pour 24h (valet parking seulement) mais dans ce secteur l’addiction peut monter très vite et ce n’est finalement pas si cher.
Coté petit déjeuner, il suffit de traverser la rue et d’aller à la Boulange pour vous sentir à la maison. Si vous préférez une version US le Starbuck est aussi juste en face de l’hôtel. (pour info la Boulange appartient à starbuck)
Je n’ai pas mis 5 car l’insonorisation est un peu faible par les salles de bain, mais je n’ai pas eu besoin de boules quies, ce qui est une sérieuse performance, pour moi.
N’hésitez pas une sconse, vous né le regretterez pas.
