Rukin Hyland Doria & Tindall was counsel in an employment litigation matter I was involved in for several months. Rukin Hyland’s substantive knowledge of employment law was alarmingly insufficient. By simultaneously seeking expertise from employment lawyers with much less experience and from more meager backgrounds than Rukin Hyland, Rukin Hyland’s shortcomings became glaring.
If not for the (pro bono) help from these other employment lawyers, the case Rukin Hyland should have been able to handle on its own would have gone dramatically worse.
This is in part because Rukin Hyland has extremely weak negotiating skills. Its understanding of people and power dynamics is quite unsophisticated.
Rukin Hyland also lacks empathy. Empathy is required for lawyers to truly understand their clients’ needs. It is also required for genuine advocacy, because you cannot effectively advocate for someone you do not empathize with.
Rukin Hyland charges clients $ 700/​hour for its poor services, and it passes on the cost of training its brand new associates to clients (individual and corporate) at the rate of $ 300/​hour.
I truly hope Rukin Hyland improves its skill set and, until then, respectfully caution others against its use.
