History

Established in 1993.

After graduating from cosmetology school in 1993, I have had the opportunity to master my craft in several cities. I have worked for 5 star salons in Seattle, Honolulu, Washington DC, Minneapolis and San Francisco. I opened Disney’s Aulani salon and spa where I hired and trained our salon and spa staff.

I am a certified master Goldwell colorist and continue to stay a head of the trends. My main focus is to give my clients a customized hair cut and fresh color that will enhance their facial features and bring out their unique qualities visually. Color, hilighting, balayage, and tipping are my specialties. I also like to help people break out of their same old and give them a new hair experience. I love what I do and do what I love.

Rosalee is really as good as it gets!
Beautiful hair cut and color.
Balyage coloring has lasted several months! Had it done end of August and now (February) still looking great. With time the color is slightly different but it’s still a beautiful color. I haven’t felt the need to get it done just yet. I do have some grays but with Rosalee’s technique the grays don’t stick out as much even though it has been several months. Really impressed by the long lasting power of this technique!

I went to Rosalee for bayalage and LOVE the results. Not only was it my first time getting bayalage, but I also have very little experience with getting my hair colored. Rosalee was knowledgable, professional, wonderful to talk to, and most of all — she did a fabulous job on my hair! I will definitely be a regular client of Rosalee’s, and would highly recommend her.

Rosalee continues to impress me with every four month visit I make! Booking was very simple as usual and the parking was fine — I recommend parking around Clayton and Hayes a couple blocks past Masonic and then walking a couple blocks — but I arrived on time at 12:30 and was finished by 2:45. She cut my hair to the perfect short length without making it poofy or too short! She also added more color (balayage highlights) and trimmed my bangs. I have to say I was genuinely nervous and I was really scared that after washing it the style would be lost, but if anything washing it made me like the cut even more! Rosalee was extremely kind, professional, and I genuinely feel that she is a talented hair stylist. The color was a bit bold for me initially just because it seemed a bit too blonde but like I said, after I parted it the way I’m used to, I found that it was really well done.
The only thing about the salon as a whole is that the other girls tend to gossip a lot which bothered me, but Rosalee was concentrated and didn’t participate which I noticed and really appreciated. Thanks Rosalee! :)

I moved to San Francisco a little over a year ago and went through many salons and reviews on Unilocal until I found Rosalee. I was impressed by the enormous amount of praise and decided to schedule an appointment for a haircut. I was overwhelming pleased with how the cut worked out. She made sure to really talk to me before the process to get a good grasp on what I wanted. Recently I decided to try out Balayage. I have never had my hair colored or highlighted before so I was very nervous. Rosalee was great in offering me different options to match my preferred level of maintenance while also achieving the specific color and style I desired. She is a true professional and as sweet and caring as can be! I am so grateful I was able to find her amidst all the other SF salons.

After a bad ombré and balayage at another salon, That turned my head orange, Rosales’s Magic hands saved me from my uttermost distress. To be honest, I kinda lost hope of getting a good balayage in sf. I have tried high end and low end salons, and none of them was able to get anything close to what I had wanted. I am so thankful that I found Rosalee. She is super sweet and is just a master at what she does. We started the appointment with a brief consultation. She gave honest and clear expectations about what she can do to get what I want. She told me that she will try to get all the orange out but to get what I want it will take more than one session. I almost cried when I saw my finished hair! The result were just amazing. She was able to get most of the orange out and even managed to get some nice blonde pieces on my stubborn Asian hair. I feel amazing in my new hair. If you want a good balayage that makes you feel like a superstar, book Rosalee.

Updating to include new adventures in coloring my hair with Rosalee!
She has done a fabulous job cutting my hair for a couple of years now, so I completely trusted her to take care with my medium brown virgin hair. I absolutely love the balayage technique she has used to lighten up my look! I love this style because it is low maintenance and will keep looking great as my natural hair color grows out. I am prancing out from my visit with Rosalee, happy as a clam as usual.

I just got a balayage from Rosalee and I absolutely LOVE it! My hair had previously been bleached and was really grown out and harsh so I really wanted to get a more blended look with the balayage. Rosalee did not disappoint! Not only is she amazing at what she does, but she’s also a very sweet and lovely person. If you need your hair colored, I would definitely recommend Rosalee!

i had recently had a bad experience at my usual colorist, so was in the market for a new stylist. i heard of Rosalee through the grapevine of my blonde balayaged girlfriends who had gone to Rosalee and had rave reviews — the proof of which was on full display — they each had amazing balayage!
i was finally able to get in with Rosalee (she is only in SF every 4wks) and from the moment i sat in her chair until i walked out the door she was incredibly warm. she listen carefully to my hair history along with my concerns pertaining to my last stylist and subsequent color. she listened and her execution was on point! i LOVE my hair color again!!!
i 100% recommend her to anyone looking for great balyage — esp blondes!

Rosalee fixed my nasty grown out ombré. I had orange and blonde tips with medium brown in between and 2 inch black roots. She transformed my hair to beachy sunkissed balayage. I am in awe that I can’t see where my old ombré line was. She is also incredibly sweet! I feel incredibly lucky I was able to see her while she was in town. Please don’t ever leave! I wish I could post a before and after so you can see the crazy difference. Not only do I love the color but I love how shiny my hair is. Magic!

It was my great fortune to find Rosalee when I moved to San Francisco 3 years ago. She always listens to my needs and then delivers a beautiful cut. She also gave me my first bayalage and I keep coming back for more because it looks so lovely and grows out so well.
But, beyond my haircuts and color, I want to address my more recent encounters. I got engaged under very exciting and unconventional circumstances and we decided to get married three weeks after. I had to get everything in order quickly and thought I would do everything myself including hair and makeup. Yet, about 2.5 weeks out, I realized that I wanted a certain look and that I, in no way, could create it myself. So, on a whim, I reached out to Rosalee, knowing it might be a long shot to get practice hair and make up in as well as day of wedding hair and make up in, in such short notice. Yet, she did it and opened up the shop for me on her days off to do so. I sent her some pictures of the 1930’s hairstyles I was interested in and the bronzy, golden make up I was interest in too. Over the next weeks, she practiced the hair and obtained the necessary make up so by the time I walked for my practice, everything was perfect. I don’t know a lot of stylists that would spend their own time, researching and practicing certain looks.
The day of was wonderful, she came in just for me and my hair and make up were perfect. I had so many compliments on the hair and they are still coming and friends and family see pictures. It was just beautiful and classy. I loved it. And in the end, she only charged me half the price. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Thanks Rosalee!

Rosalee was my savior this week.
I came to her and explained I wanted to go significantly lighter with my blonde. She steered me in the direction of highlights and color around my scalp instead of a full-​head bleach. Much better for the hair and I avoided a high-​maintenance, unnatural look. I’m so grateful for her advice! She also recommended the perfect cut.
I am overjoyed with results and walked out feeling on top of the world. It’s so refreshing to go to someone who actually listens to you. Bonus is that she’s an amazing woman who is really interesting to chat with during the whole process. I can’t wait to go back again!

I’ve been going to Rosalee for six months, after breaking up with a long term stylist. You know how scary that can be, but I can definitely say it was the best decision I could have made!
Rosalee has given me a couple of incredibly flattering cuts, and this last time I went for a BIG color change. She did major color correction (fixing grown out color from the previous stylist), added depth with balayage, plus gave me incredible overall shine with a color glaze. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments and I am thrilled with the results.
In addition to being a master stylist, Rosalee is a DELIGHT. You can tell she loves her job, and has a lot of fun doing hair. I feel really well taken care of when I’m in her chair. She listens to what I want, and even though she never pushes her opinion, she always has thoughtful ideas.
The salon itself is really friendly and low-​key, and seems totally drama-​free. I always feel relaxed and pretty after an appointment.
I’ve recommended Rosalee to all of my friends, and can’t say enough great things about her!
