We came in and Ron was getting ready for a catering event. He dropped everything and served us the BEST ribs and chicken ever! Even though he was closed !!
Nicest guy, best food, and one hell of a local’s bar too!
Really great experience and definitely a must do in the city.

Fabulous BBQ. I’ve tried everything on the menu except for the spaghetti and it all was amazing.

Ordered chicken, hot links and ribs. Also got sides of potato salad collard greens and red beans and rice. Wow! Fabulous meal.

Ron’s Pit Stop is actually inside of a bar called Clooneys, which hosts the BBQ kitchen within, which was nice for ordering a strong drink while you wait. This seemed like a cool spot to try out, so I invited my client to dinner on a slow Monday night.
After about five minutes our host/​chef came, and informed us there were several limitations to their printed menu that night. So while my client was trying to finish ordering our host bailed on us without confirming our order, and took-​off to tend to something cooking in the kitchen. When he never came back after 7 – 10 minutes, we left.
Five minutes later (25 minutes after walking in) the chef calls my phone after we were several blocks away, en route to another place to eat. I inform him that we gave up on trying to wait and order, after sitting there for 15 minutes. He started mildly sweating me about leaving mid-​order, but what the fukk man, how long am I supposed to wait when you only had three other customers? You straight walked away mid order and rambled something on the way to the kitchen… Don’t call me to give me grief after sitting there 15+ minutes trying to order.
I’m here to eat but your place already got me for 10 bucks on an extra to drink while I was waiting ten minutes to even order. I invited my client (who doesn’t drink) there to eat and didn’t have much time to sit around and wait for a convenient time to place our order. Have your bartender take our order if you’re that busy serving 3 other people.
For the record; I’m also leaving 5 stars because although I didn’t try the food… I’m not going to ruin your reputation. I will express how I felt as a customer being called and harassed after leaving without even placing an order. Don’t lose another customer doing the same thing, cuz I’m not coming back.

Amazing and authentic BBQ and southern cooking. Ron cooks with love and works his bu** off, so take a break on your other food delivery apps and step into the real deal!

Using my Groupon, I ordered the Smoked Dinner Combo Meal (two orders included). Working with Ron on the telephone is worth the whole price! He is a real pleasure to deal with, and a wonderful step back in time. It looks like a lot of food viewed on line, and it turns out to be enough for two with just one of the two containers. Everything comes packed carefully.
The potato salad (one of the two sides that come with each of the two orders) had half hardboiled eggs included. The greens were done just right — cooked but not mushy, complete with some of the meat used to flavor. The links also had a great flavor, and had natural casings. The large meat container (ribs, links and chicken) was packed to where it must have been a job to close it. This guy does not stint on the size of the order. This was good food!
On top of this, the included delivery was right on time and the temperature was ready to eat. Like many others, I wish he could deliver every day.
I understand that at one time, you could also get brisket, but I guess this became too much to keep up because of whole brisket size and smoker time. Judging from his other stuff, I bet it was good.
This man deserves real support from people who appreciate BBQ. He home delivers to your door (and caters to groups) with a winning personality and absolutely provides an amazing bang for the buck.

Ron is a very down to earth type of guy who’s food goes right along with his personality! The food is so good it makes you want to fall asleep after eating it! He’s got great people skills and has delivered to our T-​mobile store multiple times! Highly recommended!

Ron offers authentic plentiful BBQ reminiscent of the old Oakland institutions like Flints. The spicy sauce is tangy with vinegar and he pours a lot over the meats. The sauce can be overpowering but it’s great to have a lot of it so I simply scrape it off.
Ron has a business model that really could be solved if he could open his own shop. Order by phone on Wednesday and Friday, and he delivers like a caterer would. He drove into San Francisco from Oakland with my order (although I think he had several in the city).
I’m hoping more will try Ron out, it’s convenient and good, and the more order he gets, the more he can save to open up his own place. See the menu in one of the pictures uploaded on Unilocal

Excellent BBQ for this area!
Bought his BBQ deal on Groupon a while back and decided to use it. I think the BBQ options aren’t great in Bay Area, and I’m always on a look out for a good, slow cooked, smoked meats.
The way Ron’s work is that he delivers BBQ on Wednesdays and Fridays. You need to call him at least a day in advance to order your food, and he will deliver it to you.
Groupon was good for two dinners, so this is what Ron delivered:
BBQ combination Plate containing chicken, hot links and pork ribs
Two slices of wheat bread
Sides of potato salad and spaghetti
Pear cobbler (bonus)
BBQ combo plate was HUGE. Each plate contained so much food. I could only eat about ¼ of it. The chicken was pretty good, but chicken isn’t my favorite BBQ food. Hot links were very tender and flavorful. But the best thing as the ribs! Nice flavors, tender and juicy. Ron’s BBQ sauce is very nice tomato based sauce. Only issue I had here was that there is so much sauce on the BBQ and I found it a bit overpowering. I know in this area having lots of sauce on BBQ is pretty common. I’m more of a fan of having the sauce on the side and controlling the amount I use so that I can taste the meat better. Maybe next time I’ll ask for less sauce or ask it on the side.
Side dishes of spaghetti was nice. It’s a kind that the sauce is mixed with the noodles, so the noodles were a bit mushy, but that was somewhat expected. Flavor was very good.
My favorite was the potato salad. I LOVE good potato salad and I have to say this was by far one of my favorite! There is a hint of cumin in this potato salad, I believe. I will definitely order this again.
Pear cobbler was thrown in as a bonus. I’m not much of a dessert person these days, but this cobbler was exceptional! Nice and fragrant and not too sweet! Yum, yum, yum.
Why 4 stars and not 5 stars? Well, I’m someone who’s eaten BBQ in Texas, South Carolina, Virginia… etc. I’ve also made slow cooked BBQ taking like a day to slow cook meats. My standards are extremely high. Ron’s is an excellent BBQ especially for this area, and I’ll have to see how his brisket is next time…
Ron had a problem finding my house in Alameda. Funny because I think he lives in Oakland and it isn’t that far. Ron, you need a GPS. It’ll make your life so much easier ;)

I had to please some very BBQ snooty Ohioans and Pennsylvanians. I took a chance with Ron. We got the ribs, greens and beans. We all thought it was great. Amazing ribs, so many kinds of beans, and we all agreed, the best greens we’d ever had. Ron delivered to my door, and he was great on the phone and great at the door. Great. Great. Great. Great guy, great food. I recommend all the way!

Food was very good. SF BBQ options are pretty weak so it’s great having somewhere to call when you get the craving. Ron’s absolutely great to work with. Was right on time with the delivery and even gave us a few things to try on top of our order.
Ron’s will be in the regular rotation for me.

The food was delicious — tried the dinner special, and everything was good. The links, the chicken and the ribs. I kept the leftover sauce to use on other dishes. The only weakness was the sides, which seemed like they just came out from the market — the potato salad was just OK & the beans were good but not great. But the meats & the sauce were DELISH.

Great place for some cue. Stumbled upon this place after work one day. Pleasant surprise, definitely worth going back. Had the brisket and greens. Would most certainly recommend to those who love soul food, BBQ and food made with love.

Ron knows his barbecue and will deliver it right to your door. Ribs, brisket, chicken, greens, it is all delicious! Ron is also a super nice guy and the food is all nicely packed when he brings it to your door. His portions are very generous for the price.

Ron’s pit stop is delicious. I love bbq and hot links and he has the best I’ve tasted so far. I make sure to get at least 1 plate a week.

Man oh man was that goood! Ron is a stand up guy and his cuein’ skillz are on hit! Try it all. You won’t regret it.

Good option for group catering. He only does catering. Wish it was a full time restaurant!

I have known Ron for a few years and have watched his business grow. A catering BBQ business with some of THE best ribs, chicken, beans and collard greens out there! They cater for any size event. I used Ron for a work party, he is reliable and reasonable in pricing. I can’t tell you how many people asked me where the food came from! Everything is from scratch. Can do plated meals to ½ or full trays.
Do yourself and your party a favor and TRY RON’S!!!
