I’ve been seeing Dr. Doyle for about 25 years. He’s the best dentist I’ve ever had. Excellent care — he ALWAYS puts the patient first. You never get the feeling he’s looking for the next boat payment when you’re in his chair.
He also hires really nice and competent staff. Highly highly recommended. Can we get a sixth star for this guy?

My husband and I have used Dr. Doyle for many years. Over that time we have both had major dental work done. We have always felt that Dr. Doyle is attentive to his patients needs and ensures that you know all the options when work is needed. If you are in need of routine cleanings or a root canal I would not hesitate in recommending Dr. Doyle. To boot, the office staff is always friendly and helpful.

I didn’t have a positive experience — though I agree with all the other reviews that rave about the dental hygienist. He is a marvel.
Also, appointments are easy to get — Dr. Doyle’s schedule is fairly wide open.
And he does take Delta Dental, which fewer and fewer dentists are willing to do.
However, you can expect communication from him and his office to be last minute and incomplete.
He did tell me in my first appointment that he was a procrastinator. I should have paid closer attention and asked more questions.
If you’d like your experience to go better than mine did, here are my recommendations:
1. You should do all the research regarding your dental insurance early and be prepared to discuss the details at the very last minute, in my case, his office called 10 minutes before I had to leave for my appointment, a week after the appointment was made.
You should take these steps even if you are prepared to pay whatever your insurance doesn’t pay.
2. You should ask in advance about what could go wrong and how he will handle it, and get the names of the referrals and check them out in advance.
If you don’t, don’t expect advance notice. In my case, he delivered the news that root canal was a possibility by having his assistant hand me a form to sign — no warning, no discussion, just sign and date this and we’ll see what happens.
This also occurred a week after he came up with the initial treatment plan and way too late to have any meaningful discussion.
Obviously I would have preferred things to have gone differently. But I do consider myself lucky that I have other options, and that I have a dentist who doesn’t take Delta Dental, but does respect my time and intelligence, and whose office is well run, and whose staff is organized and professional. If you don’t, based on the other reviews, I guess Dr. Doyle is as good a choice as any. But, buyer beware.

My husband broke his tooth and Dr. Doyle was under the weather and off that day but he came in and fixed my husband’s tooth. Anyone who has ever broken a tooth or had a dental mishap knows how fabulous this is and how great it can make someone feel to get this kind of care and attention.
His staff is friendly and Shoichii, who does the cleaning is the most gentle and thorough dental cleaning you will ever receive.
If you want a great dentist with a great staff! You need to change over to Dr. Doyle!

When I had health insurance, my teeth were always clean, never bleeding gums. Then, after being self-​employed for 13 years, even though I kept up my brushing and flossing, my gums began to bleed.
Recently married, I have health insurance through my husband’s work and immediately he sent me to Dr. Doyle (He thinks Dr. Doyle is fantastic!).
Dr. Doyle and his team cleaned my teeth and within a week my gums stopped bleeding.
But here’s the clincher. I had a somewhat crooked tooth, not severely noticeable, but Dr. Doyle discovered it was the source of bacteria in my gums and suggested filling it with a cavity.
This exterior cavity and the craftsmanship (ARTISTRY) by Dr. Doyle made me like my smile. I would never have guessed. Then today, I read this article on-​line.
Make your smile smile-​worthy. Take care of your teeth. Dr. Doyle is a rock star!!!

I had my first visit today with Dr. Doyle, or as he said it, our «first date.» I haven’t seen a dentist in about a year, so it has been long overdue.
The staff here are very friendly, helpful, and sweet. I was greeted this morning by Trina, who helped me through all my paperwork in the matter of minutes. My appointment was a simple oral exam to see what work I needed to have done.
Dr. Doyle is an old white guy with a dry sense of humor, which you would think I’d be uncomfortable or feel awkward with, but on the contrary, I actually really liked him. Why? He TAUGHT me things about my teeth and oral care. He really takes his time and explains EVERYTHING to you, slowly and steadily.
You can really tell that he knows what he’s talking about because he gives you many options and scenarios. And one of the most appreciative things I took from my first visit is that Dr. Doyle didn’t shove a decision down my throat. He gave me different scenarios and options with different price estimates to best make a decision that fits my life.
Once the exam was done, I made a follow up appointment with Gina, who is a sweetheart. She went over my insurance coverage with me and took the time to break everything down.
I’ve never really known much about dental care and insurance coverage for dental care, but after leaving this office today, I feel so much more educated.

He’s so great and really cares. Never hurries you or tries to up the bill. Best dentist ever!

I heart Dr. Doyle. Prior to going to his office, I had a serious aversion to the dental industry no thanks to my previous dentist in San Diego, Dr. Killpatient (at least that’s what I called him).
Both the doc and his entire staff are friendly, put me at ease and the doc’s sense of humor is a nice bonus. Most importantly, I’ve never experienced any pain while in his office. In fact, during one procedure I was so relaxed I was in danger of dozing off at one point. He’s also not the type of dentist who «recommends» expensive and/​or unnecessary procedures. Dental aversion gone.

He’s fantastic! Such a caring dentist who really takes the time needed and doesn’t rush! Great admin too :)

I have been going to the doc since I moved here in 1991. Since that time I’ve been able to have complete confidence in my dental care and the health/​appearance of my teeth. Even with the off-​color jokes (I give as good as I get) he’s a great guy, great dentist with a great staff!
I guess the real moment where I knew that he was «the man» was when I needed a root canal on a broken tooth, and it was Christmas Eve. He came in and did it by himself so that I wouldn’t be in pain over the holidays. Now THAT is the kind of service you don’t see these days… service that he and his staff do all the time.
They even work with your insurance and flex plans to make sure that your benefits are maximized.
So if you need a dentist, he’s your guy!
And this is not a paid endorsement for free teeth whitening. :=)

Dr. Doyle is the best. I have been going to him since 2006 and I am very impressed.
I had a great experience there a year ago. Usually, the typical dental office is known for playing some generic easy listening tune. Not here. They were playing Thievery Corporation. That’s right Thievery at the Dentist. Now that it sweet.
The staff is great and I really enjoy my visits. Reasonable priced parking in the garage below.

I have to preface this by saying: This isn’t a 1−800-Dentist commercial.
OK. So I hadn’t been two a dentist for two years. I graduated from college, left my parents dental plan, and then, despite now having had insurance for the last year, didn’t do anything about it. I’ve never had a cavity. There’s no tooth pain. Why should I go?
Plaque and tartar. Oh, and some more plaque and tartar. Right, that’s why. 45 minutes after the wonderful hygienist Shoichi began painstakingly (though pretty painless for me, all things considered) removing said plaque and tartar from my teeth, he finished. (It was somewhere around minute 25 that I apologized to him and promised to floss all of my teeth every day.) He gently berated me for not flossing better and for not having seen a dentist in so long, but then gave me a lesson in how to floss (very instructive!).
Dr. Doyle personally warned me about his Irish wit. He needn’t have bothered – it’s great. He checked my gums (which, after all of the plaque removal, were a bit sore) and made sure I didn’t have oral cancer – I don’t.
Anyhoo, I was so pleased with the whole experience that I promptly made an appointment for exactly six months later. I like Shoichi and Dr. Doyle so much that I really will feel guilty if I don’t floss and brush properly every day.

Gotta love him! Need I say more? His whole staff, service and even the holiday and birthday cards all add up to this 5 star experience. And yes, I am talking about a dentist not some sort of mouth spa. Although come to think of it… maybe he should re-​name his business that.

Dr. Doyle is the best dentist.

I have had some of the worst experience from Dentists in my years and I have to say that I have found THE dentist for what I hope will be for the rest of my dental life.
Pirate T says that Dr. Doyle is wacky, and that alone warrants a 5 STAR.
Everything is explained in detail, questions are answered and the work is exceptional.

Dr. Doyle has been my dentist for 14 years. He is truly exceptional both for his ability and his attitude. He is never in a rush, takes his time with each patient and is a pleasure to talk to. His entire staff is enjoyable… Shoichi (the hygienist) is a licensed dentist himself but chooses to do the cleaning and is extremely personable and gentle with your mouth. Trina, one of his assistants is a joy to have near you when getting a procedure done as she has a calming influence. And Gina, the receptionist is seemingly always in a good mood. I highly recommend trying these folks out especially if you’ve had traumatic dental experiences in the past!

I never thought I would look forward to going to the dentist, but Dr. Doyle and his staff have changed my view. The staff is friendly, the dental hygienist is very gentle during the cleaning (like a ballet dancer), and Dr. Doyle is very thorough and doesn’t push for unnecessary procedures… and he has a sense of humor to boot.

Dr. Doyle is a bit wacky, but seems to know his stuff. He’s very thorough in his checkups. But the real reason I go here is Soichi, the dental hygienist. After a few brutal anti-​plaque experiences elsewhere, his velvet touch is why I stay. And he only scolds me gently for not flossing enough. Ahhhhh.
