The best dentist I have ever had! I love Dr. Hoedt and his staff. First of all, I love that when I had an appointment, I am seen within 5 minutes of arriving. All of the dentist I saw before made me wait at least 30 minutes until I saw someone. Dr. Hoedt seems very knowledgeable, and takes his time to check carefully every tooth and explains any questions you may have. His office is small and cozy, and with and his staff makes your visit to the dentist feel like a walk in the park. Dr. Hoedt runs a welcoming and efficient practice. He might be a little expensive, but he is well worth it! I just wished my new insurance would cover his practice!

Best dentist I’ve seen in all my 54 years! Very thorough, modern, updated technology, as gentle and painless as possible. The staff was amazing, efficient and kind. The office is clean and comfortable. Dr. Hoedt is knowledgeable, communicative and understanding. He set my mind at ease and the whole experience was simply as good as going to a dentist can get. 5 stars and a «like»…

I’d feel better about Dr. Hoedt if he didn’t charge so much. Two weeks ago, with Met Life insurance out of network, my son (20) had 2 cavities (first time dental work) and bill came to over $ 1,100 for 2 fillings.
Oral exam, xrays and cleaning for each of us came to $ 379 each; my insurance paid $ 199 each.
I think both are rather steep and will probably not go there again.
On Thanksgiving, my cap broke after biting into boneless ham. Since the tooth was worked on two years ago, insurance won’t pay for it. Dr. Hoedt said it would cost $ 1,900 to replace cap. I’m going to another dentist who will charge me $ 1,200 for the same procedure. In Nov/​Dec, for 3 teeth cleanings and 2 cavities cost me/​insurance cost $ 2250. It just shouldn’t cost almost $ 400 for a simple dental exam and cleaning IMO.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Hoedt and Pat since forever and this review is long overdue. They seriously are the best!
Pat is attentive and thorough. I go in for my regular 6 month teeth cleanings and checkups and I actually enjoy my dentist visits. In fact, I look forward to seeing Pat. She knows her stuff and does an awesome job with my teeth. Plus she gives awesome life advice. :)
The staff is great — they always help me figure out billing the right insurance and reschedules.
The office is always clean and there’s cool paintings on Pat’s office walls for me to stare at while I get my teeth cleaned.

I can’t recommend Dr. Hoedt and his amazing team enough! I’ve been going to them for the past eight years and have referred probably a dozen coworkers and friends who have also loved them. And love is a word you don’t usually associate with the dentist.
The entire team is efficient and friendly and Dr. Hoedt is a wizard when I had fillings and my silver fillings swapped out. I’m super bummed to be moving out of town and losing Dr. Hoedt and his wonderful team. Thank you for eight amazing years!

Finally! If you see my reviews, I’ve been through a few dentists (and I didn’t even write reviews about all of the ones we tried, ughz) looking for a great fit; competent dentist and staff being priority number one.
With this office you’ve got all that and then some. Staff is very nice, appointments are made and kept, easy to connect with if you have any questions, and Dr. Hoedt is super sweet and great at what he does. I mean, when have you ever had a huge fat needle in your face, literally, in your face, and that S%^T did not hurt? This gal experienced just that. I hate it when people say things that are inherently painful (like getting hairs pulled out of your body straight from the root) don’t hurt, but seriously folks, he did this distracting thing and I just felt a little pressure and weirdness, but not really pain! It was pretty awesome, and just for that I think you should try this office out. (That wasn’t even going to be in my review, but I just remembered and thought it was a great example of his exceptional skills. What would be even greater is if I flossed more often and didn’t need stupid injections, but I digress.) He’s got state of the art equipment but isn’t trying to make you pay for it by trying to get you to pay for services you don’t really need, like some other dentists (UFF).
Continuing with the review, the hygienists are also very good at what they do, they’ve got plenty staff so it’s not too overbooked and you’ve got plenty of slots to choose from.
Note on the physical office: it’s clean inside, in a huge building in the heart of ‘no parking and awful traffic,’ BUT, there is the Stockton garage one block down that’s convenient and if you’re just there for your visit, isn’t too expensive considering how stressful parking/​driving can be down there.
In summary, here you’ve got a great honest dentist paired with great staff and a clean office. Oh, and Dr. Hoedt is easy on the eyes, ha ha. I couldn’t resist ;-)

Here’s the real deal.
I don’t like dentists, never have because I grind the crap out of my teeth, I am constantly grinding and it’s because I have anger/​anxiety issues.
Combine this with dentists and it’s a catastrophe waiting to happen.
Well, way back in the day I visited Dr. Hoedt for some cavities and was pleasantly surprised. He is the best dentist out there, he’s very gentle with the procedures and he will caution you when there is danger present.
I recommend Dr. Hoedt 100% because he’s cool and super professional. Probably the best Dr or Dentist I’ve ever visited.
The staff is also very good and professional.

The office staff has gone out of their way to correct their mistakes. Based on their professional response to my discontent I would recommend this dental office to any of my friends.

Dr. Hoedt is an amazing dentist. I used to HATE going to the dentist and Dr. Hoedt has changed that. His hygienists are all really nice and so is the front desk staff. I didn’t go to a dentist for a few years (oops) and had several cavities because of that. Dr. Hoedt was so good, I didn’t even feel the needle and experienced no pain. Definitely go see Dr. Hoedt!

I am not a fan of dentists and I’ve had some difficult dentists in the past. Dr Hoedt’s office is the most wonderful experience I’ve ever had with a dentist. I had two fillings done and the next day Dr Hoedt himself called me to ask how things were going. Every step of the way I’ve felt Dr Hoedt’s office cared about me.
Dr Hoedt is the most caring and professional dentist I’ve ever worked with and I would reccomend him to anyone.

So just to revisit for a moment… would still give them six stars if I could. Recently got some veneers done and they did an AMAZING job. As always the follow up was personal and thoughtful, and the work was phenomenal. Never thought i would be writing fan mail for dentistry, but here I am :) Thanks, Dr. Hoedt & Co!

Ok, so let me admit up front that I am completely, utterly, irrationally afraid of dentists. So much so in fact that after having two molars summarily yanked out four years ago (do you see why?) I have yet to return for implants or even a cleaning. Finally due to emotional blackmail on my mothers part, I asked around and was referred to Dr. Hoedt (Rick, he says to call him). I was able to make an appointment within two weeks and wow… GREAT experience (try finding that statement in other reviews about dentists).
Caylee at the front desk is lovely and spent the first ten minutes helping me figure out my insurance coverage. When I first met with Dr. Hoedt to discuss my dental situation, there was no judgement or criticism, just a practical analysis of what was going on, what he was going to be doing today, and some thoughts about treatment plan. Sensing my nervousness (perhaps my white knuckles and trembling voice gave it away), he gently explained everything he was doing so I didn’t bolt out of the chair.
I then met with Patti (sp?) to get my teeth cleaned — she was an absolute wonder — very gentle, very funny, just trying to put me at ease and keep things at my pace.
I have a pretty aggressive treatment plan going forward, but I have to say, I feel better about going into this than I ever thought possible. I would give them 6 stars if I could.

I have to agree with the other enthusiasts on this dental shop – Dr. Hoedt himself is terrific, and does an amazing job of minimizing discomfort even in the most involved procedures (of which I;ve had a few), but I should not forget the staff, who do the cleanings etc. with a high degree of skill, and with care for the comfort of the patient.
I’ve had a few good dentists in my day, but I’m going to have to give the nod to the dental offices of Dr. Hoedt on this one!!!

How many people can say they are excited about their dentist visit?
Well I can. I love Dr. Hoedt’s office. The experience is pleasant from making an appointment to teeth cleaning, to the x-​rays and cavity fillings. Everything is pleasant. (All the hygienists have very ‘light’ hands. Believe me I’ve been left in miserable pain in other offices.)
What else can I add that even though I am in LA and my insurance only covers 40%, I still fly to SF for my one and only, forever dentist (of six years now).
Ps. Tell them I referred you! I’ll get a gift box of chocolate! Go figure!

I hate dentists. Hate them. Had one who started drilling before the novacaine took affect and that fucking HURT.
Avoided going to the dentist for five years after that experience, flossed and brushed like a maniac hoping I’d never have to again until my mutant baby tooth decided it was time to finally reveal it’s self. and that pain drove me to ask around my friends for a good dentist.
I was given Dr. Hoedt’s name, and I called, told them I had a mutant tooth problem and they got me in that day… and I didn’t get lectured, or yelled at for not seeing a dentist for five years.
What I got was the best damn dentist and staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of baring my teeth at — he’s now become my sisters and my friend’s dentist as well.

UPDATED — Dr. Hoedt is my new dentist. They examed, cleaned and advised on the condition of my mouth, they even took my blood pressure. Yes, he took my blood pressure. I’ll definitely be going back whether I like it or not and I’d recommend him to anyone and everyone if asked and as a result, he’ll be keeping all 5-​stars.
It’s been a long while since I’ve seen a DDS, I’m not going to tell you how long though. But I do have an appt. to see the Dr., not «the Dr.» but Dr. Hoedt and if he’s as good as the people he has answering the phones, I should be in good hands. Rich Hoedt Sr. must be proud. 5-​stars for now.

If you’re looking for a dentist you should definitely go to Dr. Hoedt. His staff is really professional and they work with your schedule. I have had nothing but good experiences here. They always give me crap about flossing more but that’s another sign of a good dentist, isn’t it?
