Along with our fabulous selection of mens and womens vintage clothing, we also have a great T-​shirt Bar, where you can get custom shirts pressed on the spot. If that doesn’t do it for you, visit our Beauty Counter to peruse our great selection of professional wigs and theatrical make-​up. History

Established in 1994.

Originally opened by two hot swinging chicks with loads of style, Retro Fit has been under new ownership since 2004. The new owners knowledge of theater and costuming, as well as a background in architecture and design, are helping to propel the business into the future.

Love the cool finds here. Well edited and balanced between vintage classics and special occasion type things. I got a fantastic red wool pleated skirt and a cashmere three quarter length sleeve boat neck cropped sweater with cool detailing on the neckline. The sweater is the kind of thing you’d wear with a wiggle pencil skirt. It’s awesome, I love both of the things I picked up there. They also have accessories galore.

This is a great vintage spot right on Valencia. It is easy to miss, so be sure to keep a look out while you are walking down the street. There is a nice mix of of really affordable pieces and pricey pieces. The bargain box had items from $ 1-​$ 5 and some of the belts that I looked at were as low as $ 8. I ended up buying a belt for $ 36 bucks though, so that is why I mean when I say the prices are a pretty big range.
The shop also had quite a bit of costume and theater makeup, which would be perfect for a special look or a theme party. I loved that there was a full range of vintage wears from the 1920s to modern day.
The owner was great, super friendly, helpful, not pushy and he was also dancing to music and obviously having a great time. I will visit the next time I am in the area.

Went to Retro Fit this past weekend… the reviews about this place are spot ON. Steven (owner) is simply amazing. Period.
The vintage collection is stunning, wigs galore and prices and QUALITY are phenomenal. I went in looking for a dress for a Man Men party and walked out with two bags full of stunning pieces! I will be back (again and again and again).

Jeez… how I love this store. It’s a really great place to go for vintage clothes, drag makeup (Lots o lashes!) and interesting asst. mid-​century stuff. The owner is a hoot. He’s got a big personality and is real honest and can get you ready for your next dress-​up soirée. It’s nice to not have to go to a chain store too! Support the locals!

This place is adorable. My cousin and I were perusing the area for fun and stopped in on a whim. First thing I saw was a column of tutus. Amazing. We spent some time going through the racks admiring all of the items.
My cousin found the perfect cheerleader outfit for Halloween and I nearly walked out with a fully-​sequined show girl costume. We had a great time trying things on and checking out the one-​of-​a-​kind pieces. The woman managing the store was incredibly helpful, suggesting accessories and how to wear each piece.
I won’t lie, some of the pieces are spendy. I couldn’t justify my costume ($ 95) or the other items I fell for (a dress for $ 450), but there are definitely some great finds thrown in.

I dropped by Retro Fit the other day to replace the silver powdered metal makeup that I left behind at a gig. Steven LeMay was so helpful and funny, that I wound up also leaving with gold powder, a Kryolan sparkle wheel — and the feeling that I had just had a fun little adventure instead of just a boring errand. The store seems to really respect customers who show the same respect to the merchandise, which is totally how it should be. There’s awesome stuff in there! Steven thanked me for noticing (and following) the very obvious sign on the tester makeup that says to please use a q-​tip and not your fingers. Apparently that’s not always the case, so have some class, people. Use a friggin’ q-​tip! :) Overall, I would totally recommend shopping here. The makeup was affordable, and the store has personality — probably inherited from the awesome owner. Definitely worth the trip!

Steven LeMay and Retrofit, what a delight! I found Steven to be helpful, very funny, and thoughtful beyond expectation. Good prices too, especially on wigs.
Steven does not, however, «suffer fools gladly,’ so if you’re being a fool in his store w/​his vintage items, he will say something. So appreciate and be careful w/​the vintage, enjoy Steven, and go to have fun!

Steven LeMay and Retro Fit Vintage helps you to re-​confirm yourself, rediscover and refine yourself, and become genuinely who you are full blossom. I know Steven as a friend and a neighbor. Steven sees a vivid and interesting person in everybody, not a check, not a shopper. Steven also has a deep understanding of SF Subcultures. If you are just exploring SF, this is a good place to start.
I would replace my therapists and MDs with Steven LeMay in a heartbeat.

Every time I happen upon this store I remind myself to write a review. And now, finally, I’m going to do it.
Part of what makes me adore this store is not just the delicate and darling arrangement of all the sweaters, dresses, unmentionables and accessories. Yes, all of that will make you take pause and sigh. It’s not just the range of rare to more common and fun items. It’s not even just the thoroughly unbelievably low prices when you consider the quality of the items. It’s the awesome guy who works there (whom I believe to be the owner). He makes shopping here a pleasure and has a story to tell about the clothes, if you’ve got the time to stop and chat. I love that! I’m one of those people who thrives on hearing the story behind the garment. Who owned this late 1930s puffy sleeve dress that fits my body like a glove? Who owned this dusty rose cashmere sweater with rosette buttons that I am now dropping down a mere 50 dollars for? He’ll often have the answers for you!
My very favorite kind of vintage store. Don’t blink when walking down Valnecia Street, because you may miss it!
