Randall Go OD

I’m a little stunned at the lack of bedside manner I just experienced… I came back to this office because I wasn’t adjusting to my new glasses after a couple of weeks of wearing them. I filled them with the prescription I was given by their visiting doctor, Dr. Schwartz (who is an absolute treasure), and was told to come back to see what the problem was. Dr. Go was rude, rushed, and literally said it wasn’t his responsibility to check the PD height on my glasses since it wasn’t him that filled the lenses. He said instead I should ask my optometrist friends to check it for me… Are you kidding me? The whole point of the visit was to determine why my glasses weren’t working properly. I left feeling really disrespected and I will not be back to see Dr. Go. Everyone else in the office has been wonderful, Dr. Go not so much.

Dr Go had made attempts to retrain staff & had given my parents thorough examinations. I’ve called back once anonymously since the last review and noticed a difference with the staff tone. Businesses that constantly strive to improve, are the ones that will sustain. This place deserves new customers a try. I have yet to update the old review but have not had the time to give an extensive review as the one I have given previously. Since I need to make further visits, I will be able to add to this and give an update when time allows. To be continued Unilocalers…

Just went in for my first eye exam in 8 years! I didn’t know what to expect since I was going in as a medi-​cal patient… what kind of eye doctor am I going to get in the Mission (dentists on mission st have been a disaster). I was there on time, filled out paperwork and everything went smoothly. Front desk was pleasant and attentive, Dr. Go was Great! He is a little boisterous, but he explains everything for newbies like me, gives me a heads up of what is good/​bad and necessary for my eyes. I really loved that he explained everything without me asking and let me ask as many questions as I wanted to understand my eyes and what I needed to do to keep them healthy.
Great guy! Great service, friendly staff and conveniently located. I’d go back!

I really liked the service here, and price is reasonable. Will definitely recommend this place.

I have been coming to Dr. Go I want to say at least 20 years, he’s always been wonderful, understanding, accommodating and professional. I wear both glasses and contacts and he’s always given me the best products for my eyes. Every appointment I go he’s very personable and explains what each machine does. I don’t ever plan on changing optometrist.

I have been going to eye doctors for a long time and generally have found them pretty boring and unhelpful. Dr. Go was neither of these, he explained things very clearly and is a very energetic (and pretty hilarious) person, I have to say. I really appreciated the fact that when he found out that the glasses I have now were not working out for me, he had me bring them in to him so that he could match that prescription up against the one he was working on to make sure it was right for me. He didn’t even charge to see me the second time but took time out of his busy day to talk with me again. Also pretty good value for the original exam! Even though it turned out I was not covered by insurance I’m glad I went here.

I have been coming here since i was in Middle school when i first needed glasses i am 27 years old now plus my entire family has always came here. Dr. Go is so knowledgeable & honestly finds the best option for you when it comes to either contacts or glasses. Its such a huge plus that before i decide on my contacts he lets me take home a pair to try out for a week before i even order mine. This is the only place i come to for my eyes i would never go anywhere else! And his staff is amazing as well they get back to me when they say they will. If you are ever looking for a new optometrist don’t hesitate to come here i highly recommend it!

Dr Go is the best. He’s a patient listener and gave some innovative recommendations re: my contact lenses. He also had his office deliver contacts TO MY HOME on two separate occasions to ensure I had an adequate supply until my order was fulfilled. Service is top notch and I will definitely go back. He also gets bonus points for being a Hoosier!

I went to Dr. Go this week for my first eye exam ever. He made it a delightful experience. He answered all my questions about the tests and equipment being used despite the office being somewhat busy. He was jovial and friendly, and in my opinion, pretty charming and funny. I really like this guy.
*Oh, I forgot to add that he is a fellow Cal alumni. Go Bears!

I haven’t had a pair of new glasses for a few years and am new to SF so figured it was about time to simply try and find someone. I found Dr. Go after doing a long search of several different optometrists. I have to say, I was not disappointed!
He is so nice and made me feel comfortable. He’s so understanding, funny and just nice to be around.
Unfortunately I had forgotten my current reading glass prescription when I went for my appointment. I brought it back so they could have it to compare. Because I work 9 – 5 it was hard for me to make time to get there during their business hours to get them back. I called to try and figure out when would be a good time to come. He called me back and told me he could drop them off at my house personally so I could have them again until my new ones were made. That was so amazingly nice! I cannot stress how much of a nice experience I’ve had here.

This is a rather rude place. I stopped by today to ask for their different service rates. I guess they didn’t notice me standing there for over 15 minutes, asking for help and asking for information. There were two women SO BUSY gossiping with each other about someone else who works there but is stupid because she won’t leave the guy she’s with because she needs his money. SIGH, THE THINGS THAT MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND! OMG! Who cares?!? After 15 minutes of awkwardly standing there, not being acknowledged or being skipped over, i left. So who knows how much or how long it takes to have your eyes checked there or that is something that they an do even. I have NO IDEA.
**** UPDATE **** So Dr. Go contacted me about my review and I have to say he’s the nicest guy ever! He apologized. He told me that the 2 women’s actions were corrected. This review used to have 1 star but now it has 4 because of Dr. Go’s prompt reply and professional manner in handling this situation. Now I’m a fan! if I’m ever in San Fran again and if I need glasses I’ll come back here and give them another try!

Dr. Go is so great! I typically wear contacts and only wear glasses at night. I am extremely nearsighted and for years had not had glasses that I could see well with. I had just resigned myself to the fact that I can’t wear glasses.
But Dr. Go turned this all around for me! He measured the centers of my eyes in order to make sure that the center of the lenses would match my focal length. These are the best glasses I’ve ever owned!

Wow! Dr. Morris was awesome. Personable as well as very dedicated to making sure I got exactly what I needed. I’ve tried contacts 3 times and this is the first time im walking out the door feeling great with them on! Thanks!

Dr. Go has been my optometrist since I was in high school. He’s a friendly guy and always answers my questions in detail about eye health whether it’s about astigmatism or LASIK. The latest pair of contact lenses that he fitted for me are very comfortable. I stopped going to Dr. Go’s office for awhile simply because I had no eye insurance, but I’m back now. Although there maybe several optometrists in the immediate area, my choice is Dr. Go.

I’ve been going to Dr. Go for pretty much my entire poor-​eyesite-​life (full disclosure: my parents are old family friends), which is a long time considering how long I’ve been blind as a bat!
He’s a great doctor, who doesn’t chastise me for the beating I give both my contacts and my glasses (they were in TERRIBLE shape the last time I went!!). Also, he didn’t judge when I picked out some questionable frames in my formative years, thinking I was super cool and all.
I would definitely recommend anyone in need of a easygoing, professional optometrist to check out Dr. Go!

So, right after I posted this, I started getting calls from Dr. Go himself leaving messages and asking me to call him back. To be quite honest, I really didn’t want to talk to anyone from the office after all that happened. I had gotten my prescription and was done with it.
However, he was quite persistent and called me almost every day (sometimes more than once) for more than a week I think. Finally, I answered when he called my work phone. He apologized for what had happened and seemed upset to have such negative feedback. He said that they were doing staff trainings to help remedy the problems that I had and sent me some complementary contacts because he read I was out.
I didn’t use my insurance to buy the lenses and I needed to use it before it expired, so I called them up the other day and asked for Dr. Go directly. I asked him to order me as many lenses as my insurance would buy and send them to my house. They arrived a few days ago without any hassle, so I decided to amend my previous review. They seem to have straightened up some of the issues that I had with them, so you may as well give them a shot if you’d like to.

Have you ever had to take a picky, pre-​tween-​y, 10 year old girl in for glasses? No? Well it goes something like this…
«Papi, is my exam going to hurt?
«No, it won’t hurt. Why would you think it was going to hurt?»
«Because they have to look inside my eyeballs. And I don’t want ugly glasses.»
«They don’t have to physically probe into your eyeballs, you know. And I’m sure they will have some glasses you like. I mean, look, you can get some like mine!»
«Ugh — that’s exactly what I mean, Papi… UGLY.»
So after having my pride destroyed and ground into a fine paste by my daughter yet again, we went in for our appointment which was great. Staff was nice, very personable and both doctors, (Dr. Go and Dr. Service) were great too. And guess what? My kid picked a rockin’ pair of glasses she was totally happy with! Now on to my appointment with my 11 year old son…

Doctor Go is awesome. He seems very enthusiastic about what he does and genuinely interested in advocating for you and your eyes’ best interest :)
Entire visit took less than 40 minutes which is incredible. They are well staffed and the appointment was quick, but as thorough as any other Optometrist I’ve been to.
Convenient location, friendly doctor, there aren’t a lot of glasses to choose from if you’re a guy, but that’s not really a draw for me anyway, so I give Dr. Go 5 stars!

I’ve been going to Dr. Go for years. We’re talking years. 13 years to be exact. The fact that I haven’t sought greener grasses within my 13 years shows that he’s a stand up guy.
He’s personable and professional. His administrative staff is helpful and nice. If you’re looking for a good optometrist he’s the one for you.

After reading the rave reviews on Unilocal I decided to go with Dr. Randall Go. His office was fairly close to mine and they were able to get me in in less than a week.
Within an hour I had my eye exam and everything taken care of. He’s awesome! I’m new to the city so he gave me some tips on things to do and introduced me to another Optometrist in my neighbourhood.
I would highly recommend him!
