These guys installed 15 windows a few years ago. We noticed that 2 windows were leaking a few years back. Incredulous that TWO windows could be leaking, we fixed siding, flashing, and casing around these windows — the water had rotted everything out. We had to re-​plaster and paint, and it ruined the floor.
Unbelievably, it STILL was leaking. I could pour water into the window frame and see it come out in the wall.
So I finally gave in and had them ripped out and replaced. It turns out that the windows were not even screwed in. They were simply caulked into place! Once removed, the problem was obvious — there were screws penetrating the bottom of the window with NO SEAL. A slow trickle of water has been eating my house.
Now I am afraid that the other 13 windows are this bad, but not as exposed. Yay. I don’t want them to come fix it because they did such a botch-​up job in the first place. Cracked trim, gobs of caulk in the wrong places and none where it mattered.
