Used them to repair a busted garage door and frame at our company warehouse, which was caused by a careless moving company driver, at some point, during the day. R&S had a quick response time and sent 2 friendly repair guys. It was after hours and we would’ve been screwed without them, because the door couldn’t come down the bent-​in steel frame. (I learned that the hard way, after a 10+ hour day) They got the door down that night and came back the next day to fix the door panels and finish fixing the track. As far as the cost for an «Emergency call» …it cost a lot less to fix the door than to lose our inventory, but it is a hard bill to swallow. I would recommend them to any business who cares about the products behind their doors.

I own a building in San Francisco with a operable gate which was installed by R&S about 9 years ago. The gate has an R&S sticker with a call-​in # on it. On Christmas Eve of 2015, one of my tenants called R&S because the gate was not opening and got a service call price of $ 385. She called the emergency contact for my building manager and got permission to have R&S come to fix the gate. A few weeks later we received an invoice for 2.5 hours of service for a 45 minute repair. I should mention that R&S is located about 20 minutes away. However, the technician explained that he was located in San Leandro at the time and so we were charged for his full travel time. The cost of the service was $ 747!
Needless to say, we attempted to work out a compromise to no avail. R&S then sent a 10 day demand for payment threatening to place a lien on the property if the bill was not paid immediately.
I strongly recommend that you think twice before any dealings with R&S. The operations staff is rude and abusive, particularly the Operations Director. We will ultimately pay this bill – life is too short to get bogged down in negativity.
However, we have removed the R&S name from the gate and our property manager has removed R&S from their list of approved vendors for the 385 buildings that they manage.

the springs inside the barrel of my commercial roll up door broke. Door Dr. said $ 2.5K and 4 to 5 days to get the parts. When your garage door breaks, it[s really not practical to wait that long if I don’t absolutely have to. So I called R & S Erection. They told me they’d get it done in the same day for $ 3.5k. I told them Door
Dr.‘s price was 2.5k. They then immediately said the[d do it for 2.5k. It took them two days. The door didn’t work the following day. They had to come back.

I hate writing bad reviews but I am so mad at this company for trying to rip my dad off. Whatever you do, no matter how badly you need your door fixed, NEVER EVER use this company. EVER.
My dad owns a business and just moved to a new location with a roll up gate. The electric motor didn’t work so he called this company because their sticker was on the gate. Someone comes to fix it and verbally tells him a price and no itemized receipt is given but he takes down my dad’s credit card info.
My dad receives a bill in the mail but no break down of the prices AND he gets charged more than quoted. Ok. He let that go. But still no receipt and no itemization of prices.
Now he gets a credit card statement with another $ 3,000 charge from this company. He never even received a receipt or another service from R&S!!! He never authorized the $ 3000 charge and we also keep calling R&S for an itemized receipt. Months later, still no receipt. No e-​mail. No calls.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH R&S at any costs unless you want to pay extra money for no reason. They’re crooks and they’re so unprofessional.

I had misfortune of contacting this office for work on a clients garage door. The appointment was setup but they never showed up when I called I was told a person would be right over, they didn’t show either. I sat waiting for 5 hours and finally called again to see what the issue was, the general manager was going to call but as expected he didn’t call. I called the next morning and I was told «lose my number, i wouldn’t sell you a door if I was the last company on earth».

So one of the glass panels at the front of the door at work, shattered really randomly at work. Called it in to corporate to see if we could get it fixed and got us in touch with this company to fix the broke glass panel or at the very least have it boarded up for us. Called and confirmed with them and they said they would have to bill us for over time since we needed them to come out after normal business hours and agreed. One of the guys came and boarded up the window, but took his sweet ass time to board up the window. 2.5 hours to be exact.
In the process of boarding up the window, since the glass shattered in a sheet (like a windshield would), the guy broke the glass from the outside in, instead of from the inside out, which made a huge mess and told us that we had to clean it up and that he wasn’t responsible for that. The worst part about that? All those little shards of glass were all over the place on CARPET. And lets not forget that this glass is really thick, so its not as easy as getting a vacuum to get all these little pieces up.

I hate giving bad reviews, since there often are problems that aren’t the fault of the company being reviewed. So, I always give the company more than enough chances to fix the problem before posting anything negative.
For that reason, I’ve given R&S more than a year to fix our garage door. But last night, when the door began closing with no input from any device, putting a large scratch on our new car, I finally lost all my patience.
The door opener R&S installed worked correctly for a few weeks, and then neither of our two remote devices worked unless we got out of the car and used the remotes closer to the door. The remotes worked maybe one time out of twenty when used from the car.
We bought new batteries, but that didn’t help. When their technician came out to fix the problem, naturally the remotes worked perfectly while he was here. And even though we told him it worked sometimes, he checked nothing else and left, reporting that everything was fine. The remotes still won’t work reliably.
We were told when the opener was first installed that we had a two-​year warranty, but when we called to have it fixed, they said it was only a one year warranty, and that had expired.
They’ve been rude on the phone, and act like they don’t believe that the remotes don’t work, saying their tech found it worked perfectly. Now I guess we’ll have to pay full charge for a repair or replacement.
I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Being a gay guy, I REALLY wanted to use a company called R@S ERECTION. At least I had to try them when looking for bids for my new driveway system. I made an appointment one afternoon and took off from work. They did show up eventually, measured and talked and asked a few questions. They were to get back to me with a quote — and that, after two phones calls from me reminding them, never happened. I mean… what a colossal waste of time.

Not to happy with these guys. I called on Wednesday where they told me it would be a week before they could come out and do a quote for me. I mentioned that I was in a bit of a hurry and could they come any sooner. I was asked to wait, then informed they could see me quickly on Friday (today) and I would need to wait at the space from 11am-​4pm.
I waited there all day and no one showed up! I would carefully consider other options before choosing these guys. A&H Doors, as well as Colonial Oriental both showed up on time. Now I’m not sure R&S is entirely bad; they called me back and managed to get someone to come by an hour later to measure, but there were not the proper estimator.

Worst company ever!
The business I work for had R&S Erection install roll-​up doors to protect the windows. Every few months we had problems with one and it cost a fortune for them to service it. After feeling like I was being screwed one too many times by R&S, I contacted Vortex. Upon servicing one of the roll-​ups, they told me it kept getting jammed because it did not have a counter balance system on them. Now why did R&S not install this or not once mentioned having this would make the roll-​ups work better? Because they wanted us to be forced to have them come out every few months and take our money.
Vortex, that’s the company worth your business.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are dishonest, completely rude, they fail to call you back. They have no problem lying to you and over charging for everything. Trust me, do not use these guys. Try City Overhead for garage doors or anyone else but these guys!!!

Horrible service! They didn’t respond to phone calls for 3 days after they flaked out on an appointment with me. Finally, I finally get a response and they say the job was too small to take on for the team. Apparently, they went out to the property without my permission, when I wasn’t there, and estimated the job, which wasn’t enough money for them! These guys are completely untrustworthy. I’ll never work with them.

These guys are great, starting from Jessica in the office and Tony who installed the door and did the estimate.
The timing was great, the service is totally customer oriented and the final result very satisfying, I got a beautiful new door for a great price and amazing quality.
Tony was professional and knowledgeable and definitely his boss should know that, he is a focused worker and super organized, and my new door looks amazing, thank you!

I have never tried so hard to give a company my money!
I used them in the past with great results. The installer was fantastic.
This time around it took several attempts to even get someone to look at the job and that took a call to a manager. They flaked on appointments to look at the job and then when I complained to the manager she went out to loot at on her way home. When I called back to schedule the work I couldn’t get a call back from them.
I own a business and when someone wants give me money to do a job I generally take it and do the work… I just don’t get this one?

I hate Unilocal,I think it is ridiculous… But I must hate R&S more, cause they’ve led me here.
Brutal…Worst garage service in SF. I am a long time property manager and have seen some bad vendor service, but they take the cake. It took over a month, 7 different requests, and NO returned calls just to get a cut sheet (a picture and description) of a mirror I asked them to install.
On top of that… They will try to up sell you anytime you meet with them to get an estimate for anything.
Use Vortex or Dean Dinelli…

When I had a new $ 80,000 4-​car driveway in my historic San Francisco home (back in the mid-90’s), R&S Erection did the automatic double gate and intercom installation. The technicians that they sent to do the job were all first rate and they did a great job. Years later, when I needed a service repair, I contacted them and the technician they sent could barely speak English and wasn’t able to fix the problem, but R&S still sent me a bill. When I called them about it and asked to speak to the owner with whom I was acquainted, I was told that the company was under new ownership and when I spoke with him, he told me that I would still have to pay for the service call, which I did. A few days later I was able to hire a freelance tech that was able to find the malfunctioning part and get the gates to work again, at a fraction of what I had paid R&S for NOT DOING THE JOB. I then called him again and told him that I wanted my money back or I would take them to small-​claims, and they did.
I still recommend that you AVOID them like they were the plague!!!

In response to Patrick’s comment, yes, he is correct. They still service the door, and did a good job installing it. However, when it broke shortly after installation, I was hung up on numerous times after becoming frustrated with not getting it repaired.
I had spent an hour or so determining the problem was not the safety sensor, and the lady at R&S would not listen to me, and hung up on me several times when I demanded someone come out to look at it since our door was wide open (12 unit condo building in the mission, not the place to have your garage door stuck open). It took 4 days to get the issue resolved. Yes, a part was ordered, and the next day another part was ordered, and the next day…
I’d give their installation and business up to the final handshake after the deal was done 4 stars. And I understand problems happen, and give their repair/​maintenance service 3 stars. But the customer service was terrible when the door broke. Because of that, I gave R&S 1 star.

OK sometimes it seems as if these companies charge an arm and a leg for garage door repair and replacement but in the long run this is the company I prefer when addressing door issues in SF. They return phone calls make courtesy calls when needed and work on Saturdays so you can get gates fixed without everyone having a major coniption fit. Comparatively they are in the ballpark with other companies price-​wise and often if you look carefully actually offer better materials.

I am going to keep this short and sweet. I needed a garage door replaced. I was referred by a few people to R&S. I called. I was helped by Christine. She was friendly and efficient. The door was repaired quickly. NOW THATS SERVICE! No fuss & No guessing on my end. She was great!!!
